About the Book
The Darkness Within will take you down the depths of what's hidden beyond the abyss. Readers can expect the story to evolve into a more serious tone without losing some of the fun bright moments of the first book.
It’s the second book of a continuous series ending on a cliffhanger. Due to its dramatic dark themes and graphic nature it is recommended for an adult audience.
About the Series
Enter the epic world of Chronicles of Lilith – the metaphysical, dark fantasy and sci-fi series that brings together the magic of The Lord of the Rings, the intrigue of Game of Thrones, and the mind-bending action of Inception.
Follow our tragically flawed vampire lead, Zain, on a journey of self-discovery and adventure. With strong heroines, a large cast of complex and morally gray characters, and metaphysical and philosophical themes, this is a book you won't be able to put down.
The Chronicles of Lilith is a Dark Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Metaphysical series that explores many deep existential theme and ideas as well as the nature of reality. Readers who embark on this long journey will travel across realities following a host of complex characters as both endure a riveting, heart wrenching adventure about finding hope, love, courage and beauty whilst facing the struggles of life, death, suffering and the true face of nihilism.
Much like the first instalment in this fantastic series, I could not put this book down either. The story gets better - yes, it's possible - and more captivating. Almost every chapter reveals a new layer to the tale, each building on the previous and leaving your jaw on the floor. It goes beyond a well-written and innovative plot, to an elevated reality that urges you to reflect on and question your own. The characters we know and love (or hate) become more complex and interesting: I laughed and cried with them, flipping through the pages to uncover their journeys through the (darker) magical world the author created. And what a world... the scenery is described so well it felt like I was right there with Pïshkah, Zain and Lilith on their adventures. This is no ordinary book... Buedinger has outdone himself, offering the reader yet another extraordinary experience. Once again, I cannot wait to find out what happens next.
Lilith is making her journey to find the truth that lies within her shard, accompanied by a reluctant Zain who questions everything on this final journey. As Lilith traverses deeper into the darkness, Zain wonders if he is still willing to follow the woman he fought for.
I am so in love with the story this author has created! The drama, love, tension, questions and just overall thrill of everything has been spot on the entire time and I couldn't ask for a more interesting read! I actually really love Lilith's character and the lengths shes willing to go to get her answers. I also loved Zain and the way that he keeps his own opinions and voice throughout the series rather than letting them be overcome as a result of their journey.
This book blew my mind, created an existential crisis, and left me in an emotional whirlwind. It blurs the line between hero and villain in a way that leaves you questioning everything you believe about what’s right and wrong.
The author did not shy away from hard truths and tragic events. I fell in love with the vivid characters and found myself experiencing their triumphs and tribulations in ways that left me reeling. It’s not an easy read with all the tragedies, but it’s an amazing one that left me wondering what comes next. I can’t wait to see where the story goes from here.
ARC What I appreciate about James's books is the way it's not just a story, but it also made me think and feel on a deeper level. Wow. If you thought book one was great, well this one is equally great. So many things happen with in the story. So many emotions are brought out from this reading. It is spell bounding, harrowing, frightening, bloody, thought-provoking, exciting, intense, frustrating etc, etc. I could feel myself holding my breath at parts, swearing at other parts. Simply amazing.
The sequel was fantastic even better than the first book. I'll be waiting for the next chapter of this fantastic story. Normally, the sequels are so boring or lack interesting stuff, but the way Jens nailed this sequel was fantastic enhancing and achieving something which most of the authors have lost in the past decades.
What a ride! I did not expect even a quarter of all the stuff that went down. I won’t put out any spoilers but my my, what an emotional rollercoaster! The author really nailed a home run on this sequel and I’m dying to read the next!
