More questions will arise for each that is answered; as the world-building unfurls, nothing is as it seems.
The Loveletting saga picks up in Ghost right after the cliffhanger events of Curse, although not straight away, as new characters merge into the story along with old favorites. A gripping plot that doesn’t stray away, but intertwines instead, stretching across the whole series for readers to bond, explore, and abhor.
Powerfully developed characters that will inspire, amuse, provide answers, and pose new questions; introducing riddles along the way and beguiling enigmas you may have to piece together for the upcoming books. Great mysteries will be revealed within the pages, as backstories and secrets that are unraveled only to challenge both the mind and the morals.
The world explored in Ghost will not see the shadows wane, instead new ones will be cast with a touch of magical realism and a heavy dose of sinister psychological horror, all intertwined with the overarching storyline of a deeply gothic romance. This journey will draw you in with the inception of a true evil that festers the mind, and a new character that will have your skin crawling until the very end.
Ghost is gut-wrenching, unapologetic, raw, and honest, depicting the most elementary mistakes of mankind to be made, but also the most convoluted. But above all, the question will be answered...whose eyes locked with Charlotte’s, before the world dissolved into a blank void? Whose face was marred to the skull? And, whose mask will be the last to fall…
Christina was twenty-seven years old at the time she began writing Loveletting. Born and raised in Greece, she has always had an affinity for language; fluently speaking Greek, German, and English. After years of experimenting with different professions, suddenly it dawned on her: writing was the only thing that actually made sense. It all started with a simple prologue in the notes of her phone, and since then, she hasn’t missed a single day of writing and working on her very first novel series — breathing life into it, as it breathes life back into her. The primary goal as a writer is to strike certain melancholic chords in the heart while reading, pulling from deeply haunting personal experiences to create books that linger in the mind long after the story is finished. Her stories combine gothic romance, intense adventure with nerve-wracking suspense, entwined with vague and unsettling horror subplots — and a myriad of controversial subjects to challenge any reader’s views — all taking place in the historical setting of late 19th century Victorian west. Focus lays heavily on character development, as it is crucial to her and her story; for the reader to bond with the characters, and feel like they’re reading about an old friend. Her purpose is for the reader to be transported to another world, escaping from reality, and finding an eerie comfort within a haunting experience.
With the release of the third book in her Loveletting Series (Ghost), Christina Maraziotis delivers yet another all-consuming and incredible journey. There is triumph that scales mountains as much as defeat that succumbs to the formidable valleys with bottomless depths. The reader will consume this author’s enviable ability to tell her tale through the voices of her rich and believable characters with a nuance of desperation to hang onto good in a world of evil.
The story opens with an exchange between Amara and her son Johnny. She is preparing for the hunt and more importantly the chance to avenge the death of someone she loved deeply—a death at the hands of Charlotte Browning... Meanwhile, James Miller hasn’t been human for a long time. He knows his soul no longer exists, yet he takes pause to reminisce. He thinks about his great fortune to have Charlotte in his possession. Hate consumes his existence, "...It splits like a man’s identity within a deranged mind and chooses the nerves it belongs to. And this...is but a piece of flesh that dangles about when I speak, when I eat, and drink. When I walk, when I even rest, it is all there, and yet...it is not mine..." (pg. 2)
Charlotte is shackled to a bed in a hopeless den of evil. She cowers each time she hears James’ footsteps approach, yet she is helpless to escape. She mourns the death of Mac Kinnon; the only man she is convinced she could ever love; yet she wrestles with her thoughts because she refuses to accept that he truly is dead. Is he? In a passing moment of clarity, she wonders if Marshal Patrick Tilghman will rescue her. He left her in Mayhaw—his parting assurances that she would be safe, but no one is safe as long as James Miller is still alive. Does Patrick know James has her? Many will join forces with the Marshall to capture the elusive James Miller. Brothers Sven and Viggo understand the darkness that surrounds Miller. They enlighten Tilghman over the fact he is not dealing with something human. Rather, they are embarking upon a journey to eradicate evil; knowing all too well that Miller is a subhuman creature full of dark forces and evil. They will travel through many towns—Mon Luis, Mayhaw, Nephilim Cove and many more in their quest. There will be blood and death; good facing an evil beyond their wildest imaginations...and the end journey will place them face-to-face with a reckoning that points to survival on one hand and destruction on the other.
To say I was elated to have the privilege to review another book in this exceptional series is an understatement. In the beginning pages of Ghost, the third book in the Loveletting series, Christina Maraziotis wastes no time in re-introducing her cache of characters we have become all too familiar with. Maraziotis delights in familiarizing us with nuances that are signature to each character—Mac Kinnon with his larger than life presence that requires nothing more than an occasional ‘Hmm’ to get his point across; Jesse McCoy with his mannerisms of being a young man outlaw working hard to come into his own. Charlotte Browning; never to be viewed as the damsel in distress, but the reader is reminded often of her soft side when she laments of her undying love for and devotion to the one man she fears she can never have. The phenomenal layers of color Maraziotis paints with artfully placed words and scenes effortlessly grasps the reader’s attention throughout this magnificent story. Ms. Maraziotis knows exactly what she is doing with the release of each book in this captivating saga of epic proportions. The intentional descriptions of towns in a time decades gone by teleport the reader to the moment: "...Nephilim Cove, a town barely visible through the widespread smog and mist, but it stood there in menacing apparition. In the polluting air, and suffocating clouds that clogged the skies in a gloomy gray. A town filled with dismantled wooden cabins, adorned with patched up rooftops and plank-covered windows, clad in glass shards that were scattered about, for every single night there was at least one set of bullets piercing through them..." (pg. 52) With over 700 pages of sheer brilliance peppered across each page, it’s difficult to site one passage over the other to properly capture the essence of Ms. Maraziotis’ true talents. She is by far one of the most masterful writers I have ever had the pleasure to review and simply put, I cannot wait to dive into the next in this series. Well done once again!
Quill says: Ghost will leave its audience with the weight of regret as the pages dwindle in number because another epic read is coming to an end. However, hope will prevail with the prospect that the next book is looming somewhere on the horizon.
I've been saving this gem for as long as I could, like a fine wine, because I don't want it to end but at the same time I need to know or else my heart will burst from the irresistible anticipation. And what a wild ride it was, I tell you what! "Ghost" has everything a girl could ever want. Shootouts, passion, gore and mysteries in a world of dangerous men and even more dangerous women. Wild and delicious. "Ghost" picks up where we left off in "Curse". A dark and powerful force are awekening, spreading through the land and leaves nothing but blood and questions behind. Charlotte is put in quite the perdicament to say the least, Marshal Tilghman, charming as ever, is trying his hardest to do right by her and Mac gets to dive in head first into situations both familiar and unfamiliar to him and gets to discover the side of him that he never could've thought he had.
It makes me so thrilled to see the characters changing and grow as the story unfolds, sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. The Charlotte we get to know in Ghost is a wildly different from the Charlotte we know from "Haunt" and "Curse" and honestly I'm all in for it. As much as my heart aches for her and the struggles she have to go through I'll always root for Charlotte. And Mac, of course. But what I also feel I need to address is I really appreciate is how the level of darkness and spookyness increases as the you progresses, the balance between light and darkness is masterfully written. Speaking of language, the fact that the old Norse and Norwegian parts of the book is written in actual old Norse and Norwegian is, to me (a Swede) absolutely brilliant. Not only does it feel close to home, it also brings to the whole atmosphere and makes the world feel more alive and authentic, which is exactly what Christina Maraziotis is an absolute expert on. The second you start reading her books you are no longer in this century. You are in the Victorian era's wild wild west. Alive and untamed.
Once I put "Ghost" up I could kiss the real world goodbye because I couldn't put it down, not even at gunpoint. Read it. I dare you.
Ghost by Christina Maraziotis is a delightful continuation of an already beloved series that truly captivates readers' hearts. As a fan of the previous two books, you'll be thrilled to know that Maraziotis maintains her strong writing style, while introducing new and intriguing characters to the mix.
The pacing of Ghost is as impeccable as ever, keeping readers on the edge of their seats throughout. It's one of those books that becomes increasingly challenging to put down, as the story unfolds with twists and turns that will keep you glued to the pages.
Maraziotis' talent for crafting a "Spicy Romance" novel that transcends the genre is truly admirable. With an excellent narrative filled with action, drama, and a touch of mystery, Ghost delivers a literary experience that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning readers.
With each passing page, you'll find yourself eagerly immersed in the lives of the beloved characters you've come to know and love. Maraziotis' ability to breathe life into her characters is unmatched, making each encounter feel incredibly real and emotionally resonant.
In conclusion, Ghost by Christina Maraziotis is a testament to the author's impeccable storytelling skills. This book is a must-read for fans of the series and anyone seeking a truly exceptional romance filled with passion and excitement. I, too, eagerly await the release of the next book in this amazing series, as Maraziotis continues to weave her enchanting tales that keep us all coming back for more.
Behold, a dark brooding beautiful tale of misery and majesty....
This series has held me spellbound page after page. I have wept and rekindled hope for the star crossed lovers, only to see if dashed broken and shattered on the floor yet again. The story is utterly enthralling but the beauty of the writing holds me spellbound and reading past exhaustion. Then just as a pat ending seems possible, even probable, the world morphs yet again and everything shatters anew. I am now hoping this next book of the series has secretly been written and awaiting publication after its final editing is complete as waiting for its publication will be torture unparalleled.... A cliffhanger? No, this is misery and mindless anticipation! Bravo, Christina Maraziotis, this series is a masterpiece!
The third book in the Loveletting series picks up perfectly where Curse ended. With well developed complex characters and (a) truly compelling , thought-provoking memorable story.
(Christina Maraziotis knows how to create evil at its core, leaving you gasping in awe. Not for the faint of heart, Ghost will keep you on the edge of your seat while simultaiously pulling you into this gripping saga. A good read.
Ghost is a continuation where curse ends and as usual Maraziotis has brilliantly honed her skills with this riveting story filled with danger, action and suspense a thrilling scenario which will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I thought that Curse was awesome, but Ghost takes it up another notch and answered a lot of questions for me. Once I started, I could not put this book down.
Fantastic read! If you have not started this series yet, do it now!
I have read all three in the series and each book gets better and better! If you enjoy a good read with tons of twists and turns and great character development and intertwined plots, then this series is definitely for you!
I can hardly wait for the next book in the series to be released!
This Loveletting series is sooo good. Each time I start reading a book in the series, I usually finish it within a few days because it is so hard to put down. There is always something going on and you want to keep reading to see what will come next. I can't wait for the next one!
Getting spooky. I am so into the characters and the story. but the writing is beyond superb. The third book in the Loveletting series and it has taken my breath away and put my head under the covers when I put it down for the night.
Review: Ghost by Christina Maraziotis 4* 12/28/2023
A warning that all three books have graphic scenes, especially the third book. Either bypass the scenes or enjoy them...!
This is the third book of the Loveletting Series. Maraziotis is a wonderful writer. She knows how to organize her novel and is a mastermind of characters and settings. Her books follow one another in sequence. I enjoyed going from one book to the other knowing which character she was introducing. Once the reader starts reading the first book following Charlotte and Mac you will be going on an adventure to the last page of the third book.
The book was filled with plenty of suspense, mystery, action, and so much more. The terrific action never gives up. I don't believe the reader can predict what is on the next page or around the corner. This author just keeps going and doesn't let up on her storytelling. Maraziotis thoughts must keep her mind going around the clock. There's plenty of shadow and darkness. The toughness of the creative characters is strong and Maraziotis leaves nothing out.
I usually avoid books with graphic scenes but this series kept me on the edge of my seat.
Christina Maraziotis continues to blow me away with her writing of the Loveletting series. The intense suspense, the drama, the plot twists, the excitement and adventure, the unforgettable characters - I'm in complete awe every single time I pick up these books. There is so much that happens in Ghost (book 3) and I have a million thoughts about it but will share just a few.
Jesse and Mac: These two were the highlight of the story for me. Their back and forth bickering, insults, and secret admiration for each other had me constantly smiling and laughing. Jesse is one of my favourite characters - he is such a kind soul and it's clearly rubbing off on Mac, encouraging him to feel again after decades of shutting off his emotions.
Charlotte and Tilghman (aka the ol' horny toad 🤭): "𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴, 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘰𝘵𝘵𝘦" As comforting and sweet as it was to watch their love grow, it was devasting to watch it crumble. We're shown the many sides of Patrick - the father, the lover, the law, the charmer, the coward, the protector, the lovesick fool. I feel readers will have mixed emotions about what transpires and while I don't condone Tilghman's actions, I can't hate him.
Charlotte and Mac: Chapter 21 "Dead to Me" broke my heart, but that jaw dropping ending gave me hope for them.
Hmhmhm, Mr. James Miller: "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳...𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨?" Where do I even begin? In all honesty, I'm not sure what's going on with James but he plays the villain well. If you thought he was a sinister being in Curse, you haven't seen anything yet.
Ghost was an addictive and entertaining read full of regret, lies, confessions, love, secrets, mystery, horror, and so much more. I'm so excited to see what awaits in Slave (book 4) and am forever grateful to have found a story that is everything I could ever hope for as a reader.
