Whatever energy you put out into the world, for good or for harm, shall come back to you threefold.
The Rule of Three was the first lesson Ana Whalen was taught as a witch– right before manifestation and tarot card tricks. Yet, one night of cheap champagne and a small pity party before turning the dreaded 3-0, and all ethical magic goes straight out the window. Ana casts the worst spell she can think of, one befitting the one man who left her high and dry after their whirlwind summer
Dominic Rovnik.
Because really, how much trouble can a teensy well-deserved hex cause? When Dominic ends up banging on her door demanding answers and Ana has more bad luck piling up by the minute, it turns out the answer is a lot. What started out as simple revenge quickly turns back into the passionate affair haunting them both. Only this time, neither of them are willing to let the other get away so easily.
Return to Barnett in this second chance, found family romance sequel to Bewitched by You. The Barnett Witches are back to take on their own love stories with plenty of small town drama. Perfect for readers who can't resist the magical charm of Practical Magic or the sweet swoons of a romantic comedy with an emotional happily ever after.
This was absolute perfection. It was the perfect sequel to Bewitched By You. I loved Ana and Dom. I loved being back in this little universe. I loved seeing so much of Ryan and Lu!! They are my absolute favorite. This book was sweet and soft but also hard and full of big, difficult emotions. I love this world Kendra created. It IS magic. The family that Ana has is so warm and welcoming and supportive, even when she messes things up, especially then! This book made me so happy.
Ana and Dom had spent two months together and it had changed so much for them. And when it was over it had crushed them both completely. I loved that they were brought back together because she had cursed him! Sort of accidentally?! And he came back and he was so angry! At first I was having a hard time seeing it working out. He said terrible things when they first broke it off and again when he came back… I hated seeing Ana put in such a hard place AGAIN. But the flashbacks and the super forced proximity and the apologies and realizations made it very easy to love Dom just like Ana did.
I loved Ana and Dom together. Their summer together was so easy and simple. Even after we learn more about Dom’s past, and how simple is WASN’T, it was beautiful. He felt so drawn to her before he knew anything about her magic, and even when he was skeptical of it all. But they were so wrapped up in themselves that it didn’t really matter. And when they came back to there and it was so hard because the curse, and the bad luck, and the fact that Dom has a whole life Ana doesn’t know about and how Dom being back sort of sets all of Ana’s progress back to square one; they were somehow SO GOOD together.
Just a special little shout out to Lu and Ryan because I love them so much. I loved that they were present the whole time but not in a way that ever made it seem like they were stealing the show!
Thank you so much to Kendra Mase for this ARC in exchange for an honest review! I am grateful and cannot wait to see what is next!
Put a Spell on You is the sequel to Bewitched by You by Kendra Mase. I read Bewitched last year and loved it! Obviously I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one.
The Rule of Three was the first lesson Ana Whalen learned as a witch. Yet, after a night after cheap champagne and a pity party, she casts the worst spell she can think of on j the made that left her high and dry last summer. Dominic Rovik. All the bad luck Ana has been having just got a lot worse when Dom shows up banging on her door for answers.
This book was so freakin cute. I loved every second of reading it. I’m a sucker for second chance romances anyways but this one was just chefs kiss. I’m almost in love with the small town setting. It’s so cozy and the side characters are just perfect. Kendra Mase does an amazing job with the family aspect of this book as well as Bewitched.
If you’re looking for a sweet and cozy summer romance to put on your tbr then make sure to pick this one up on May 30th! It’ll be on Kindle Unlimited as well!
Thank you so much to the author for sending me an arc of this wonderful book!
Another Amazing read by this wonderful author, I love Ana and Dom's story and How this is a standalone book but is also connected with Bewitched by you. Ana is a hopeless romantic that at the age of 30 doesn't know what she is doing and why her love stories never end happy. She met Dom 6 months ago and he seemed like her perfect match until he left and said some horrible things to her when he did. 3 months later and after some champagne and wine....Ana puts a hex on Dom...But magic has its own way of doing things and over the last 3 months she has had some crappy crappy luck....Then Dom shows up on her doorstep because even though back then he didn't believe in magic.... He knows his bad luck is because of Ana. They soon realize that when they are together nothing bad happens. Ana works hard to try to break the hex but is at a lost as too how... But with being so close to him old feelings start to rise between them. I just love the story line that goes from lovers to enemies and then lovers again? The mystery in the book to see what happens with their love story is amazing. Heartbreak, anger, love, happiness and shock are some of the emotions you'll have while reading this book! I highly recommend it! Will Ana and Dom have a happily ever after or will Dom leave her again? Read to Find out!
This is the second book in the Barnett Witches series which explores a new member of the small college town Coven. One night Ana is drunk on cheap wine and reflecting on her life when she places a hex on her asshole ex who left her last Summer. She never actually thought the hex would work let alone it would backfire and curse both of them. To her shock she gets a knock on her door a few weeks later from none other than Dominic Rovnik, the man who broke her heart.
The bad luck continues as they are forced to work together to figure out how to reverse the spell she has cast. But can working together be healthy for two people who very clearly still have feelings for one another. With the help of her coven, will Ana figure it all out before it’s too late?
Just like her first Barnett book, this one was simply adorable and perfect read for this time of year. Magic is the key word in all great stories and this one has it in spades. Love the visit back to Barnett and the fun characters and of course the love and struggle with the two main characters. Perfect cozy Fall read!
This is a second chance romance. I’m not a super big fan of that trope. I pushed through because I really liked the female main character. It was really cute and the guy did grovel a decent amount. That trope just really doesn’t do it for me. But other than that I really enjoy the characters and the dialogue
This book was just okay. I wasn't the biggest fan of the love interest for most of the story and even the main character annoyed me at times. I loved seeing Lu and Ryan show up though as I adored them in book one.
This was so adorable and full of healing and imperfect relationships against the backdrop of a college town and witchy happenings. Mase continues to write humanly flawed characters full of heart with a supporting cast that feels so real.
The story itself is cute, so I would've given it 3.5 ⭐️ even though the storyline was slow moving at times. However, the spelling and grammatical errors made me want to give it 2⭐️. I'm averaging it out to be 3⭐️ since Goodreads doesn't do .5⭐️ yet
I adored Bewitched By You, so I was very excited to read this one, the second in the Barnett Witches world.
Mases books read so easily. They’re quick reads, they’re so fun to read, and each chapter leaves you excited to keep going.
I absolutely loved both MCs here, but particularly Dom. He seems so much worse than he is originally, and little by little we get more and more backstory. I really enjoyed how that evolved.
If you’re looking for a witchy romance, you’ll love this one, too!
This was such a grower. When I started it, I wasn’t sure it would be heading for a 5 star read but I eventually became gripped. It’s an angsty love story with complicated main characters, and I loved the romantic tension between them. It’s a great second chance romance. And I do always like a bit of a witchy premise.
I found the past tense narrative a bit clunky and hard to get used to at the beginning - I felt like it would have been easier to get into if it had been present tense! But I loved this by the end either way!
I love Dom and Ana so much and the only reason this book didn’t get 5 stars is because the lack of proofreading was so bad it was hard to understand at times
I liked the idea of forced proximity, but the rest of the premise just pissed me off. Also, I couldn’t get over the name Dominic Rovnik… and I don’t think I need to explain myself any further.
After writing Bewitched By You, for some reason, I just knew I had a few more characters in the small college town of Barnett who wanted to have their story told. And I can't resist a book that constantly includes found family and all those cozy Practical Magic vibes.
So, welcome back to Barnett, and I can't wait for you to meet Ana and Dom.
Spring is officially in session, and messy characters continue to fall in love.
