"Once you see who I truly am, this marriage will become far worse." After the death of her second husband, Lily is forced into a third marriage by her father. Her new husband, a duke, is rumored to be a monstrous warmonger, but to her surprise, he turns out to be a kind and thoughtful man. The only catch… she must never see his face. Will Lily respect his wishes, or will she disobey the duke?
This volume collects episodes 1-12 of the webcomic Disobey the Duke if You Dare. Enjoy the official webcomic of Disobey the Duke if You Dare on Manta app.
✧ ೃ༄*ੈ✩ I'm definitely intrigued to see where this goes. I'm unsure if Manta Comics will release a second volume in paperback but if not, I guess I'll have to read it in the site. Because I love me an arranged marriage where the guy is so into the heroine? WOW. Beautiful, iconic, perfect.
The ending of this first volume really makes you crave for what's next in the story not going to lie!!! I wanna know what happens next because oh my god. SHE KNOWS. SHE KNOWS WHO HE IS NOW! And I feel like this will change everything and development will happen.
I like that the palace life is nice to her. I always hate when people are mean to the heroine when she goes live someplace else and they treat her badly. But everyone (if I remember correctly) treats her so well and they actually really like that the duke married her. I loved that she has formed friendships and relationships with the people working there and the duke's friends.
Thank you Manta Comics for sending me this beautiful paperback copy. This copy IS GORGEOUS. It has sparkles, it shines in the light, it's such a good print copy that I fully believe everyone who loves manhwa and manga should have. They did such a good job creating this paperback.
mar 2024 actual rating: 3 stars read until: chapter 96 [completed]
we're done with this manga series! while i enjoyed the initial story, i got bored pretty quickly as the plot started progressing within the last part. regardless, glad that i picked it up!

actual rating: 3.5 stars read until: chapter 80
they finally talked to each other and confessed their feelings, i was waiting for so long. the pacing felt a bit off for the past 10 chapters. everything's moving pretty quickly, but i guess the couple's communication moving forward will be better.
may 2023

just let them be happy at this point. please.
apr 2023

love a good, supportive husband who is powerful enough to give everything to his wife such that she can take revenge against those who wronged and abused her.
I've read it in quick succession after Under the Oak Tree: Season 1 and I must say that Lily and Vlad are not as charismatic and sweetly in love as Maxi and Riftan are, but they're still likeable MCs :)
Quickly-paced forced marriage romance with beautifully vibrant artwork! I found the FMC a bit silly at times and I lost the plot in places causing some confusion, but overall an enjoyable first volume.
I'm definitely intrigued enough to see where the story goes in volume two.
Well I will say that I liked the art, but I think because they cut out the smut scenes (which I've been told is in a good majority of the novel) the plot feels stilted and jumps from one scene to another kind of making it confusing at times.
Also the romance feel rushed as hell. Things just kind of happen and aren't fleshed out very well so that's not fun.
But hey pretty art! Might go an read the novel to fill in all the gaps that seem to be left unsaid in the Manhwa. *edit* Okay its not just the smut scenes but they left out A LOT. Character motivations, fears, bkg, violence...the atmosphere of the novel is a lot darker and the Manhwa is pretty fluff in comparison.
And just straight up changing some characters to make it more...palatable maybe? Oh man. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
The art is phenomenal, but the plot skips crucial moments that are important to the romance and the story. Like Chapter 10-11 and then 11-12 just hopped right over very important scenes... strange. Still enjoyable even with feeling like I'm missing out.
I hope Manta continues to print comics, I'd be broke but happy 🤣
I binged read this whole series on Manta Comics! Lily is such a strong woman character and I loved that about her! I love how Lily and Vlad’s relationship grew throughout the series! I liked this series so much that I am conflicted if I should buy the psychical volumes! They are so pretty!
I actually just finished the whole series but don’t think all the volumes are up yet.
It was cute and the art was beautiful. I just felt like the end came abruptly and there were a lot of things I thought were unanswered. Wish there was even just one more concluding chapter. It was still really cute and I enjoyed it but wished for more!
I loved this. Seeing Vlad in the mirror scene immediately had me wanting more, regardless if it was true or not. Lily is super sweet, and I felt sorry for her, but she seems like she can definitely hold her own. I can't wait to continue on with this series!
I really enjoyed this comic, even if the prologue is weird.
Lily is the female lead, and she is basically the bargain her family needs when they need money. Husband after husband (even when she was a child), they keep trying to make her have a kid with her husband's, just for the sake of their fortune. They really don't care if she is abused, beaten, etc.
So when she marries with Vlad (the ml), she starts to discover what it means to be loved, and have someone who really cares about her.
Vlad is half monster. And has seriously issues with his appearance, what really make me sad, since he is a wonderful man.
In other way, even if Lily is mature to talk with him and try to clear the misunderstandings, they're both lonely souls who are trying to trust and be with each other.
This is a pretty straightforward manhwa reimagining of your typical “Beauty and the Beast” story.
Lily is our FMC and our “Beauty” who is being forced by her father to marry the fearsome and purportedly monstrous duke (aka our “Beast”). The duke doesn’t want Lily to see him because he is afraid to scare her off. Meanwhile, Lily is desperate to create a bond with someone she can trust. The two stumble towards romance.
There’s nothing particularly wrong with this story aside from it being so formulaic that it’s a real yawnfest, tbh. There’s not an interesting thing in this story to be found.
It’s got a pretty cover—but no substance beyond it.
If you enjoy fantasy romance manhwa, you’d probably like this one. But, if you were hoping for a more substantive story, I’d pass on this one sweetie~
First, the physical cover of this is gorgeous. With small holographic touches here and there, it shines and shimmers in the light. The art? Simply stunning. With beautiful, dreamlike colors, clean lines, and attractive characters—it's hard to look away. The story is an interesting twist on Beauty and the Beast.. but with some more "adult" situations. (This is not one I would recommend reading to the little ones.) While it may be a tale as old as time, this graphic novel? comic? manga? will draw you in from page one and hold you captivated until the last page. I would definitely recommend this to fans of fairytale retellings, captivating romances, and gorgeous artwork.

3.5 it is like a ‘here is my expectation and here is what i get’ situation, anyway the art was fascinating, also i felt the chemistry however i do not know exactly what is the wrong. lily has a really traumatic past, starting with her childhood. her father forced her to marry men for power and money. and then vlad. vlad is a character who grew up calling him a monster, which causes him to grow up loveless and hateful since he was a little boy. so i mean, the story is also promising, but things went very quickly, as if something was missing that i can not say exactly what.
Season 1: Arranged marriage and romance between a Duke with body dysmorphia and an “infertile,” titleless heroine. The Duke fittingly has the reputation of being merciless to enemies but hires or cares for many with disabilities (key supporting characters) - seems non-existent in season 2. Season 1 was fantastic: plenty of drama, unpacking psychological trauma, and minor monster fights to keep you invested in this growing romance. Artwork was light and shiny with many flower frames.
I liked it, very much so enjoyed the casual acceptance of disabilities and the common usage of sign language that you don't see a lot of in these types of stories. However I do think it does kind of fall into the same traps that a lot of other Korean manhwas where the MMC is darker skin and the FMC is as pale as pale can be. He isn't seen as "primitive" which is good, but it's still there. Not as aggressively colorist or racist as others I've read but there is some subtext. Will I continue however? Probably. I'll just read it online though.
3.5 ⭐️ Was a great quick read to get out of my reading slump and for my first manga definitely great but the story got a lot more confusing in the end with the mission vald went on and the communication between vald and lily was sometimes done such in a beautiful way but then we learned that they didn’t actual tell the actual truth but overall such a cute and adorable manga can’t wait to read volume 2

A decent 3.5 ⭐️. Another easy read manhwa. And it is completed! Yes, we've found another completed manhwa. Thank you very much. It is slow burn and has a very light plot that you can binge read. We have conflicts but I think they're all easily resolved. You won't need to invest a lot of emotion.
Another good read this one.
Happy reading!
P. S. I think we're off to a good start this year. ❤️
Read too much like Under The Oak Tree. And honestly, while the plot seems...odd, it wasn't exactly interesting. I still read it cover to cover, but wasn't at all what I expected.
The break between chapters were choppy, as if no real time passes. Sometimes was hard to digest whom was talking and who was saying a thought.
8.5/10! Pretty interesting! Vlad was such a misunderstood character and I’m so glad lily came into his life and showed him what unconditional love was! Same goes for her! She deserved just the best. I’m glad they came into each others life’s and showed one another what real true love was! The ending was beautiful as they showed their children! <3
At first this reminds me of My Secretly Hot Husband but goshhh the story & character developments just get better that I was so drawn to the story. I love how they communicate. I love the ml’s protective nature & fl’s courage. Not to forget the art. I feel like this is the first time I’m attracted to a masculine ml. His appearance is just chef kiss!
The art is beautiful and the story sounded right up my ally, but it didn't quite meet my expectations. Everything happened so fast, I was left wondering if I somehow missed a chapter or a moment that would have made the story not so abrupt. I have high hopes for volume 2.
The pacing is really weird. It feels like there is a lot of information missing from one chapter to another. There is no relationship development they go from strangers to a living couple in half a chapter…
