Alpha's Secret Baby

Rate this book
My life was like a train on a fixed track.
I knew I would inherit the pack, but didn't know that Alpha’s duty included arranged marriage.

So naturally, I disliked the girl chosen by my parents, even though she was my Mate-gorgeous and intelligent!

The matebond guided me to claim her, but my rational side forced me to reject her after a perfect night.

I didn’t realize my love until I lost her, when she left the pack to pursue her dreams.

However, my love did not die once I saw her again, at my engagement to someone else.

This time, I won’t let her go, even if it means hurting another girl, or even resulting in a pack war.

But she told me that we were impossible because she loved someone else and had his baby already.

Desperate and disappointed, I thought I had lost her forever, but...
Why did her baby look so familiar to me?

Alpha's Secret Baby is a standalone book in the Rejected Mate And Secret Baby Series. It's a full-length romance packed with heart and heat! !
No cheating or cliffhangers and a satisfying happily ever after.

Oof, this one flopped for me.

Too many character inconsistencies.
The mmc was annoying as hell. He was an a-hole in the beginning for feeling trapped (thanks for that btw parents 🤦🏽‍♀️), he was an even bigger a-hole when he flipped on his resolution after seeing her again. 𝑻𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒃𝒖𝒈𝒈𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒆 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉. Man, just make a decision and stick to it! She looked like she might not have that same affliction, but jeez it only took him one week of living close and she’s in his house, in his lounge, pouring out a sob story and then trying to get it on. Grrrrr, you don’t spend 7 years and multiple times running away just to break at the littlest pressure and jump him. 𝑯𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒆𝒎 𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒆𝒏𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉. This was about the time I gave up.

This god of theirs that sent visions to the alphas? Worst ones ever. Well, they sent contradictory-ish visions!

And the Beta…he made me most angry of all. How dare he break the sacred bond of trust. How dare he. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘵, 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵! Nah bro, yeah sure forgive, but not forget. There’s no reason to trust him again. I didn’t see any reason for her good and deep feelings of friendship. None of his actions showed me he was a good friend except he was 𝚗𝚒𝚌𝚎. Arghhhh!

Omgosh and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥. These two men 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒄𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒊𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅’𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆. That’s strike one for the Beta. Strike two was mentioned above. The Alpha and Beta were dodgy af doing that. Set all my red flags off.

Now our fmc. I liked her personality for 2/3 of the book….until I didn’t. She was absolutely right to walk away in the beginning. 100% she deserved better. She made decisions and stuck to them…until she didn’t.
Some small flaws here and there but largely a good character to read about…until she wasn’t.

Had to stop reading at 67%

I had high hopes

But this one fell flat for me. I kind of understand Cherry’s reaction but at the same time I think she was so selfish and our Alpha seemed a bit sappy to me. Maybe it’s just a me thing

Eh………

It’s okay, not great. Well I wish I had spent my time better.

Dylan came off as a jerk. He was selfish and self centered during the entire story. He treated people badly to get what he wanted. He’s spoiled and it doesn’t appear he learned anything about treating people with respect. It’s all about what he wants.

**spoiler alert- don’t read further if you don’t want to know plot points **
He treated his maté badly because he was angry at having been forced to be with her. Then after she grew a back bone and had enough, he was upset. Having learned nothing, he gave in to getting engaged to someone else. He humiliated that woman when he realized he couldn’t be with anyone else. The writer wrote that woman as a mean person but it doesn’t justify the way he treated her.

I ended up skipping through pages just to get to the end and the end was not satisfying.

I couldn’t get on board with this one. The premise sounded interesting but execution was lacking. I wouldn’t say this author is devoid of talent but I don’t think her style is for me. There were things that felt off her phrasing sometimes so that definitely falls under just not vibing with her writing style. There are some typos and grammatical errors throughout the book but I don’t factor those into my rating or review, I just like to give a heads up to readers who are bothered by it.

Ultimately, I think this book turned out to be a miss for me because of the H. It’s not all on him but most of it is. In the beginning he resented his constraints of having his whole life- mate included - planned out for him already. He was 17 and h was only 11 when it was revealed they were true mates. He was definitely ambivalent towards an 11 year old when his teenage buddies were out sewing their wild oats. He snuck around with a girl behind his parents back until they caught on and banished her. Eventually h wasn’t a kid anymore but the resentment had grown. While she was now available, beautiful and desirable he resisted his urge to be with her on principal.

When he finally did start to come around a huge part of him was holding back still clinging to his unresolved anger and resentment assuming they had a lifetime to eventually be together. Then it was too late h is ready to go and he just lets her. Then proceeds to just let her live her life for 7 years. He’s keeping tabs but not close enough to realize she has a whole ass baby - his baby, of course.

She’s summoned back to the pack because he’s ascending to the alpha position and she has to swear loyalty or whatever. She rolls up and he has a fiancée. He doesn’t seem to give a shit about her but still 😒. The fiancée is, of course, a catty bitch. Ultimately, she doesn’t get much page time and after H becomes alpha he kicks her to the curb to pursue h.

My issue is he should have done that SEVEN YEARS AGO. Like what was he waiting for? The h is only moderately resistant to his pursuit. There is ZERO angst over hiding a whole child from him for 7 years. - okay, legit - I hate when h is punished for a secret kid in books where H is responsible for her running away or whatever BUT like ZERO angst here felt wildly unbelievable. Like I expect an initial flash of anger at first until it dawns on H it’s all his fault and then he grovels. This never truly felt like a grovel. The h never sat around feeling bitter he didn’t treat her well the first go round. She was just sorta sad and wistful.

I don’t know, this just didn’t work for me.

Safety - there is some OW/OM drama here but it’s underwhelming. No on page sex scenes with other people. We know H fucked around with one girl before h grew up but there is no information given about what happened during the seven year separation. No idea if either were celibate or not.

Way too many plot holes

The premise here was good, the execution was not. I don't want to drag the author, but seriously, she needs some help.

Cherry is the fated mate to the alpha heir of her pack, Dylan. Dylan wants nothing to do with fated mates, he wants to make his own choice. Fine. But why cave when mommy tells you to live with Cherry for a year and see if the bond develops? Because you're a complete ass to her for a whole year. She tries everything to make you happy and you give her back nothing. One night, you're blatto drunk and you have sex (I'm not even going to get into the issues of consent here). Now you decide to give Cherry a chance and begin to engage with her more. Problem is that she has already decided to leave, she just needed time to get all her ducks lined up.

Time jump 7 years, and Cherry is an up and coming fashion designer with her own studio in Berlin (why not Paris?). A bit of a stretch there, but ok. She was pregnant when she left the pack and never told anyone. I do have an issue here with women that keep babies from their father, but I digress. While I liked her in the beginning, and felt her pain, I found her to be pretty selfish once she decided to leave. Nothing is ever mentioned about her shifting while in Europe, but when she gets home and war is afoot, she can easily shift and fight? Nah. Speaking of the "war," one of the reviewers here mentioned that it was like, "meet me after school in the parking lot." True. Oh man, reading that comment, in my head I saw a bunch of shifters dancing and singing that song from West Side Story when the gangs are fighting/dancing. Lol.

If you can't tell by now, check your TBR pile before checking this series out.

Could have been so much better, as the beginning was good. The title and cover is super misleading. There is no baby, the book jumps time and we have a six/seven year old. Most of all Rape is rape regardless of it is woman or man committing the disgusting act. The woman in this book is the rapist but the author thinks it's ok bc she is a female.....

Cherry and Dylan are fated mates. They were told as such when Dylan was 17. He was pretty upset that his parents, his future role as Alpha and now his fate are leaving him without choices. He wanted to be a player but that plan was taken away from him. His parents decided that their relationship would improve and the bond snap in place if they live together. Dylan does everything to ignore Cherry during the year they do live together. Cherry on the other side tries everything to gain his attention. She actually is in love with him. Since Dylan isn't making fast enough effort for her liking, she decides that she wants to go to school and study design and leave Dylan. Then Cherry takes advantage of Dylan's drunken state (yes you read that correctly, he is so drunk that he can't even walk and when he tries to kiss her she kisses him back and doesn't stop bc this is what she was dreaming and wanting all her life), and has sex with him. After this night, they actually start bonding and he makes an effort to get to know her. However, he never mentions that night because he can't remember the whole thing just bits. Cherry leaves the pack without saying bye to anyone so essentially she runs away. Story skips 7 years and we find out that she left pregnant from that one night. DNF after this. How can this be a HEA? Her ego was hurt that the feelings were not reciprocated and she denied her child not only a father figure but also grandparents. She is nothing but selfish. Now for the big scene that bothered me, rape is still rape if it is a man or a woman that is taken advantage. Yes, Dylan initiated the contact but he was wasted and she should have never reacted. Her excuse is that she felt like she "stumbled into one of her fantasies" and "I didn't want to stop". Imagine if roles were reversed?!!

Bentornate Fenici!

So, I’m not a parent, but I think it’s safe to say that keeping your child hidden from literally everyone is not a good mother move. Cherry stressed the importance of needing to keep Fern’s identity secret but I never really got why? It all just seemed kinda selfish. Cherry kept an entire family out of Fern’s life so she could continue living her fashion dreams in Berlin.

The weirdest thing was how chill everyone was about it after finding out? If I was Dylan or Cherry’s dad, I’d be PISSED that I missed 7 years of time with Fern because of Cherry, but everyone seems super lax? Not super believable.

The romance was also kind of stale. Dylan came off as a contrarian who only wanted what he couldn’t have. First, freedom from Cherry then when Cherry was gone, he wanted Cherry. This attitude is definitely not attractive in a MMC.

The Carl storyline was a big ol’ nothing burger. I thought him feeding Fern lactose would mean something, but it definitely didn’t. He just turned out to be a cheater 🤷‍♀️ after Cherry dumped him, he was never heard of again. Kind of anticlimactic.

On top of everything else, this book is RIDDLED with spelling/grammatical errors. I understand when self published books have a few (editors are frigging expensive), but this was pretty excessive.

A Vapid Read

The story started out great. I like the emotion showcased in the beginning, although the male character’s motivation seemed a little implausible. But once the book continued I found the lead female characters actions to be irredeemable. I know it’s a secret baby novel… but we’re never really given an honest reason as to why other than he was distant for a year. Her boyfriend troubles seemed forced unnecessary and literally did nothing for the plot and could he easily cut out of the book. Her treatment toward her father in keeping this child a secret let alone the child’s father seemed senseless. There were obvious plot holes in the story like her child’s allergy, yet ability to have hot coco and pizza plus croissants? I think this book has a good foundation, and an okay beginning but I think some editing and some reworking or the narrative is in order. The author needs to consider if moments of the book move the story forward or makes the novel stagnate and cut from there.

This one is a decent read. It's got a rejected mate theme going. There's no secret baby... more like a secret elementary school child. It's not the best shifter fiction, or the best romance I've ever read, but it's not the worst.

I probably liked this book more than it deserved because Cherry did what I always wish rejected mates would do. Just pack up and leave town and go your own way. This girl has $100 in her pocket and a scholarship to fashion school, so she's all "F this noise" and stops chasing around her jerky fated mate.

Some issues:
There are a lot of editing issues and typos.

Why does Cherry live in Germany? No one speaks German, there's no explanation about how she immigrated there permanently, or how her staff member is able to come with her to the United States. There's no mention of how Cherry deals with the fact that she has to shift monthly, but lives in Berlin. Austin is able to buy property in Berlin in less than 24 hours. This would have worked better if Cherry's business was established in New York or LA. Far enough away, but without complex immigration or cultural issues.

Austin becomes alpha, then leaves for Germany the next day, despite the fact that the other pack is threatening war. There's no world building here, so we don't know why there's any conflict between these two packs, or why shifters would war with each other when they are fully integrated with human society. And then it turns out that "war" is fought by saying "Meet me after school in the parking lot" and then fighting.

Cherry doesn't seem to be a long thinker when it comes to her daughter. She knows her daughter is a shifter, but her only plan seems to be to just not tell anyone about her, leading to a years-long lie. Why didn't Cherry integrate with another pack in preparation for Fern shifting? Why did Cherry think keeping Fern hidden forever was a good idea?

This book had everything I would have expected based on the title and the description, maybe a little more. It had angst, conflict, romance, heat, character development and two likeable characters. With what both of the main characters had to deal with, their struggle was realistic and not the fairytale jump to a HEA.
Cherry and Dylan were both told that they were destined to be together and were an arranged mating. Cherry had the advantage of being told at a very young age, 11, so she had all her adolescence to get used to the idea. Dylan was told right before becoming a man,17. It was understandable that he fought internally against the idea of being told who he had to mate. Unfortunately, he held this against Cherry for too long. His obvious rejection led to her rejection and departure. The author did a great job of conveying the hurt they both felt when she left and he realized that he had fallen in love with her, after getting to know her before she left, and she was not coming back. In fact, the feelings of both MCs was conveyed vividly throughout the book.
Dylan and Cherry both kind of went on with their lives before seeing each other again, after seven years. It was great how Dylan worked to win Cherry back and all he was willing to give.
It was awesome seeing a flip in the roles. Here he was willing to show his vulnerablity and need, with tears and pleading. Nice to see it coming from a man for a change.
The only thing that I would change or add is a different mating ceremony and adding the claim bite.
This is definitely a book for shifter lovers. The feelings of the wolf is relayed, which I loved, and an action scene reminscent of Braveheart.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Meh...but not the worst...

This was a very slow read—low stakes, minimal angst, and not much emotional pull. I didn’t hate it, but I was never really invested either because the questionable logic, and flat emotional beats made it a forgettable read.

Some redeeming bits: the heroine dumped him (deserved—he was an ass), they had a real conversation about why she was leaving his sorry behind (rare!), and—praise be—they both moved on during their time apart. Fated mates, who aren’t stuck in celibacy prison? Groundbreaking. Truly.

But then the logic started leaking. The kid has a deadly lactose allergy… but drinks chocolate milk. A dramatic public rejection at a mating ceremony somehow gets ignored by literally everyone afterward, like it didn’t happen. And sure, let’s keep giving ML (Dylan) a free pass to be emotionally lazy. He rejected FL (Cherry) the first time over a past love he only pursued to rebel against their fated connection… and then does the same thing again, pining over Cherry while engaged to someone else. Sir. Therapy.

Cherry wasn’t exactly giving heroine energy either. She was adored by the pack, and treated like future Luna, but decided to keep Dylan from his kid because she caught some feelings and was ignored. That’s not deep emotional trauma, girl. That’s a Tuesday.

And then there’s the war declaration scene—pure comedy gold. They go full dramatic “this means war”— then immediately return to paperwork like it’s a Monday in HR. I’ve read fanfic with more narrative tension.

Oh, and let’s not forget: Cherry wakes up from a life-threatening incident and doesn’t ask about her daughter—she checks on her business. Priorities? I guess?

But meh...they get their HEA in the end.

Cherry is the soon to be Luna of her pack. She lives with Dylan, the alpha in waiting, and his parents. She has lived with them for one year in preparations for the mating ceremony. Dylan will be a strong good alpha when it comes time for him to take over. They only have one issue; Dylan is not happy about having to be mated. He feels that when the two were 11 and 17, the parents announced they were mates. Dylan resented the implications and although Cherry is the perfect candidate for Luna, she treats him very well, and she is beautiful, he does not want this. Not long before the mating ceremony the pack had a party for the ceremony. Dylan was incredibly inebriated and consummated the relationship. Cherry learns quickly that he has regrets. She decides to leave the pack and start her design career in Berlin. Fast forward seven years later- Dylan is engaged and Bert, the beta and best friend to both Cherry and Dylan visits Cherry in Berlin. He discovers she has a daughter, Fern. She denies she is Dylan’s and goes to make accolades to the new couple. Dylan sees her and knows in his heart she is his…when announced the new alpha, he rejects his current fiancée and turns to Cherry. What ensues after is a cat and mouse game. When the two decide their fates, a challenge between two packs will have dire consequences…what will happen? Will they have their HEA?

Absence does make the heart grow fonder. - Cherry took a chance on herself and left her chosen mate to build a career. Why stay where she wasn't wanted? It was only when she was gone that Dylan finally accepted his feelings. He did love her. But he didn't interfere in her life. They both moved on, attempting to forget the one their heart really wanted. But fate will not be denied. Misbegotten lovers and distance are only obstacles to be overcome to be in each other's arms. To be the family that was destined.

This was a really good PNR. I love that Cherry stood firm in her decisions and didn't allow herself to be swayed. She made a good life for herself with her own efforts, and didn't let Dylan's reentry sidetrack her. The best kind of Luna - strong and independent. I love that Dylan set aside his needs to support Cherry's dreams. That he worked to earn her love after being so casual with her heart the first time around. The best kind of Alpha - strong but willing to bend when he knows he's wrong. They were perfect for each other. It just took them a few years to make it to the beginning of forever.

More depth and emotion needed

At first I thought this book would be rampant with heart wrenching emotions. We start well into the H and h living together, which I feel was a mistake. We should have seen more from the beginning.
Everything felt swift and superficial. The h leaves and we are immediately many years later. We are rushed into her having to go back to the pack, the H is pretty quick in declaring his love, then she's gone, he's there and boom they're together. It was all so fast and lackluster.
The human she's dating, such a big deal is made about, then he's suddenly and conveniently gone and never pops up again. There is a huge deal made about the kids lactose intolerance to the point of butter in what I assume was a cooked dish was such a major disaster, but later the H fills her teapot with chocolate milk....? Then we move back home without issues, the kid immediately accepts everything, no one is mad she kept the child a secret for years, there's a call and boom, meet us on our pack lands for a war and everything is quickly and easily wrapped up.
It all felt weird and disjointed and unsatisfying.

Cute quick read. At first I wasn't sure if I would like the main characters. Dylan and his stubbornness and unwillingness to even try to give things a chance with cherry and being stuck on someone he claimed to want but didn't even attempt to fight for, which was a occurring theme with him. I felt like he could and should have sought cherry out if he really changed and wanted to be with her after she left. I liked that cherry grew a backbone and didn't wait around for him to finally decide when he wanted her, but I'm not usually a fan of secret baby tropes, the not making the partner aware of the pregnancy and then the subsequent lying about the paternity afterwards in all of them bugs me. But to a extent I understood. The rest was her being stubborn, a little spiteful and scared. But Dylan was very patient and super understanding through it all. There was a little ow/om drama, I actually would have liked to see a bit more with that. It was resolved on both ends fairly quickly. But overall, good quick read. Bert was awesome and I hope to see his story soon. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Alpha’s Secret Baby was an exciting and spicy book. I loved it from the beginning. It kept me on my toes and turning the pages until the end. I loved the authors writing style. It was beautifully written and the characters are complex and had such fiery chemistry. The storyline was original and had my heart clenching for Cherry and loved the grovel Dylan did.

Cherry was strong, independent, and loyal to her friends and family. I loved her determination and growth throughout this book. Dylan, Dylan, Dylan. He was loyal, broody and a little arrogant, but he was loyal. Both characters had such amazing chemistry together and separate. My heart broke, soared and picked up pace and I enjoyed every feeling of anger, frustration and happiness.

Unremarkable.
Double standards.
The hero is pissed because he has to marry the girl that is his mate.
So the meaning of mate bond goes to hell.
Because what’s the meaning of mate bond if the hero doesn’t even feel it enough to want to marry his fated mate? Shouldn’t it be such a strong attraction that he can’t resist it?
Why should he be angry and annoyed because he has to marry his mate?
The heroine leaves him when she realizes he is disappointed because they have to get married.
She is also pregnant and hides the kid from him.
They meet again years later and he’s engaged.
Not celibate, he had sex with his fiancee. So again, he didn’t feel so much the mate bond.
When he sees the heroine again he wants her because the bond, you know. But this is inconsistent since he was getting married, and screwing another woman.
Just nope.

Cherry and Dylan's Difficult Beginning . . .

Dylan’s parents chose his mate for him. In retaliation or maybe just resentment for having them take away his choice and forcing this on him, he is unpleasant to her. Cherry tries to strengthen their mate bond but Dylan is sulking and won’t let her get close until one night when they come together and she becomes pregnant. Before he finds out, she has given up on him, he has made it plain that he rejects her, he doesn’t love her, and she left. With her gone, he realizes he does loves her but didn’t go after her. When she had to come back for a ceremony, Dylan wants her to stay. Will she? Or will she want to keep their child secret and leave again to continue her own life?

Cute afternoon read

Quick after read, about one's mate. They meet at an early age. The young alpha tries to fight it, but all change on one drunk night. The young luna decided to leave right before her luna ceremony. She found out two weeks later she was pregnant by the alpha. She move to Berlin for 7 year to find herself. She came back when the young alpha was going to become the new Alpha. He then found out he had a daughter fern. Then decided he was indeed in love with his mate and tried everything to win her back. She became a very successful designer in Berlin. It took a couple of weekends for the aloha to win her heart. When he did well the rest is history.

(Possible spoilers ahead) The book was okay. I know most people don't like H but I didn't find him that bad. I disliked h more. He even asked her not to leave so they could continue to work on their relationship. She's the one who decided to leave.

There was nothing about H that I would consider bad. He seemed like a likable guy who was forced into a lot of situations without being given a choice. The night H & h finally got together, even then he was so drunk he could hardly stand.

There was NO GOOD reason for her to keep the child a secret for 7 years. She didn't even tell her dad about the child (even though she was close to her dad) It was just unbelievable. She got no pushback when the child was revealed.

The h is the H's chosen mate. The H will become the Alpha and is bristling at having choices made for him. When the current Alpha and Luna encourage the h and H to share a house and get to know each other, the H holds her at arm's length rather than committing to their bonding. Tired of having her efforts thwarted by the H's coldness, the h leaves to study and work in Berlin. She was surprised to find that she left pregnant after a night with the drunken H that he doesn't remember and wants to forget. Seven years later, the h is required to return to her pack to swear her allegiance to the new Alpha, the H. He is engaged to someone in alliance with another pack.
Most of the book is tepid in feelings and angst. It's not written to instill interest in the characters or events.

Cherry and Dylan!!!

This book is more than just a fated rejected mate. It comes more of a forced mate as it was seen by the dad of the MMC that the FMC was his fated mate. We have the MMC Dylan who refuses Cherry the FMC because of this, as it's not his choice. He sees that it goes against his alpha nature. After a rejection, we see it fast forward seven years with Cherry living across the country, having to return back for a ceremony. When that happens, Dylan comes face to face with the past and the saying, "You dont know what you have until it's gone." We get to see a story of redemption and love created of the absolute trust before they get their HEA.

Very strong start to Dylan and Cherry’s story. It was very emotional as Cherry tries so hard to strengthen their mate bond and Dylan keeps brushing her off. Of course there’s the one fateful night that leads to Cherry getting pregnant. This is where the story takes a turn that I wasn’t really on board with. I’m a fan of short timeframes where a couple eventually work out their differences. It seemed to take an awful long time for Dylan and Cherry to get back around to dealing with their feelings.
I gave it 4 stars because it started strong and ended strong but the middle seemed to be a lot of slow-moving moments.

Lots going on. Lots of angst. Dylan, like many young folks, rebelled against the idea of being “fated”, that a major component of his life was not his choice and so he treated Cherry badly. I admired Cherry as she made the tough decision to stop being an unwanted, rejected mate and leave to make a full life for herself. In true self-centered fashion, as soon as Cherry decided to leave, Dylan decided “maybe” they could work in a relationship. I was glad she stuck to her guns. The way they reconnected again was swoon-worthy. A really satisfying read.

I received a free Advance Review Copy of this book and this is my voluntary review.

Potential to be Great

So much going on that it was a bit frustrating at times. This story had potential with it's overall plot but somethings were bothersome. The fact that Dylan finally realizes his feelings but never seeks her out prior to getting with his fiancé was one such issue. Cherry on the other hand had to worry about herself and their child but seemed to forgive him too soon in comparison to her character development toward the beginning seemed inconsistent. The story as a while was still interesting, I just wanted a bit more.

Rejected mate stories

I'm confused because I downloaded this thinking it was just one short book. I got three short books instead. The first and third were pretty average, but the second, about Sydney, was excellent. So, this is not really a review of the titled book? Sydney doesn't know about her half shifter heritage, but before her adopted aunt is brutally murdered she tells Sydney To go to New Orleans and look for her real mother's people. She is attacked, but escapes to New Orleans, but the pack and her alpha mate reject her. The story is entertaining and sweet with just enough intrigue and adventure. MF, shifter, fated mates, lost heritage.

This was the first book from this author that I have read but will not be the last. I liked that it was not an Insta-love and that the MCs had to fight for their love. The FMC was a truly strong independant woman who stood on her own two feet, making a name for herself. It was nice to see the Alpha fight for his fated mates love. They truly belonged together. I highly recommend this book to all paranormal readers.
