Hope was here is written by Joan Bauer and is an award winning novel.this book was surely one that a thirteen year old girl could relate to.basically the story covers a girl who lives without any parents, but rather her aunt who travels the world as a waitress. Hope becomes one to, and the main destination is Wisconsin where they help another employee become mayor. i felt that the story line was a little confusing to follow however, the idea behind it was intriguing. I personally thought that the characters were a bit too basic, in the way that the reader only really learns of the main character; hope. having read this novel i am sure that being a waitress could be fun as well as disturbing yet, a cool job. there were some sad points like the one where you find out about GT's issues but otherwise just a relaxing work to read in ones spare time.
Hope Was Here was a very great book because it was very interesting by the fact that Hope was a brilliant waitress because she helped all of the people that she served and helped a man named G.T run for mayor to a help their town in Wisconsin, it was hard because he had cancer and that is why many people didnt vote for him. It was a very inspiring book and I recommend this to everyone who likes realistic fiction.
I loved reading Hope Was Here. This book is about a teenage girl struggling the balance of life. There is always so much going on around her. On top of that, big changes, some good and mostly bad, are occuring. Overall I enjoyed reading the book, Hope Was Here.
