Margaret is a Scottish author and chocolate lover who has been writing stories for over twenty years (possibly more if you count her primary school efforts). Her early works will never see the light of day and are locked in dusty vaults on some old floppy disks. But after all those years of practise, Margaret released her first novel A Winter Haven in 2021. This is the first of a ten-book series set on the gorgeous Scottish Isle of Mull.
The stories are unashamedly romantic but with lots of drama and an eclectic mix of characters. Each book can be read as a standalone but followers of the series will enjoy catching up with previous characters.
A new spin-off series based in the Scottish Highlands is coming out in 2023. Look out for the Glenbriar Series throughout the year.

Pitching Up At Heather Glen was a nice, entertaining read.

When Logan bought the campsite of his dreams he didn't expect there will be so many things to think to make it work. He is the only on site, he is overwhelmed by the amount of work he has to do every day, but as soon as Eleanor put foot into his shop is attraction at first sight. Eleanor planned this trip to Scotland with her dad to remember the happy times spent at the Heather Glen campsite with her late mother. She didn't expect to have an easy and deep connection with the owner. Will Logan and Eleanor be able to handle their growing relationship, work and holiday?

Eleanor is a very warm and caring woman, at some point she is also too selfless putting her future happiness at risk. Logan is besotted with her at the first sight and he isn't afraid to show his feelings. I really liked them together, I smiled a lot reading their shenanigans and the ending was just pleasing and perfect for them.

This was the first time I've read a book written by Margaret Amatt, I enjoyed her writing style, the humorous and touching moments are perfectly balanced giving to the story a more realistic atmosphere.

I highly recommend to read this novel because it is the perfect holiday read, you'll definitely relax and recharge visiting this Scottish campsite with its wonderful lochs and landscapes.

Pitching Up At Heather Glen - Margaret Amatt.

This is our third trip to the pretty little town of Glenbriar. It’s a gorgeous setting. Margaret Amatt does a fabulous job of setting the scene, with her wonderful descriptions that tickle the readers senses.

Although this is book three in the series, it can be comfortably read as a stand alone story. However, the whole series is gorgeous, so do yourself a favour and read them all!

#PitchingUpAtHeatherGlen is an adorable love story. Eleanor and Logan fall truly, madly and oh so deeply for each other. They are both carrying their own baggage, but they can maybe find a way to work through things together.

I’m still a relative new comer to Margaret Amatt’s books, but so far, every one that I have read has been full of fun, romance and Scottish to the core.

If you want a book that will make you smile and lift your heart, then you won’t go far wrong with #PitchingUpAtHeatherGlen. It really is a beautifully written, joy of a book. And just the nicest place to lose yourself away from the real world.

Logan is working on his new camping site when he meets Eleanor. For him it’s love at first site. For her it’s more like lust at first site. Theirs is a sappy love story with some complications thrown into the mix. It’s a light easy summer read. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources for the early copy

Love this series set in a beautiful location with fabulous characters. Eleanor and her dad Andy are holidaying at Heather Glen Campsite, they have happy memories of staying there as a family before her mum passed away. Logan is the campsite’s new hunky owner and Eleanor feels an instant attraction to him. They decide to keep their feelings a secret especially from Eleanor’s dad. Will they or won’t they get it together? A dreamy, emotional, sizzling, romantic story with a perfect ending.

Of all my books, "Pitching Up at Heather Glen" has been one of my favorites to write. The holiday fling between Logan and Eleanor was challenging but fun, especially with the tricky situation surrounding Eleanor's family as she cares for her elderly, widowed father. Well, it's not easy to slip off for a 'sleepover' when you're supposed to be entertaining your dad! It all makes for lots of emotion and conflict, which is awesome to write and hopefully equally as enjoyable to read.
💖
The camping theme was so much fun to write about because I really enjoy going off in my tent. I never went camping as a child but my husband introduced me to it and I never looked back. One year, we camped at a family-run site near Mallaig. I saw the owners' teenage son wandering around the site in wellies, carrying a bucket of chicken feed. A girl from another tent was sitting outside, sneaking looks at him while pretending to be on her phone. I remember getting out my notebook and writing "the boy from the campsite". It made me wonder what would happen if that boy and girl met again later in life. Would they remember each other? That was ten years ago and I'm happy to say that idea has become Logan and Eleanor's story.
💖
The 'hurricane in Scotland' scene was also inspired by a real-life event. I was with my husband, two stepdaughters, two nephews and a niece (all teenagers at the time) and we were in two tents in a forest, next to a stream (in August!), when an unlikely hurricane was forecast. Yes, in Scotland!! That was a truly crazy night, when the stream rose right to the door of our tent and in the morning, when we checked on the 'teen tent', they were huddled up like puppies in the central area, after freaking out all night! I've given Eleanor a similar night to contend with... How will she get by?
💖
I hope you will enjoy reading "Pitching Up at Heather Glen" as much as I enjoyed writing it!

Pitching up at Heather Glen is one of the most romantic books I have ever read and I loved every page!

Eleanor Kendrick has come to Heather Glen campsite with her father, trying to lift both their spirits and reconnect with the past after the death of Eleanor's mother. It was a place they holidayed at when Eleanor and her brothers were kids and she hopes that it will bring back happy memories for both of them.

But on the first day there, her father has a fall when they're out on a walk. Rushing for help, Eleanor's knight in shining armour is the gorgeous Logan, the new campsite owner. Logan has always dreamed of owning Heather Glen, but his dream is turning into a nightmare as he doesn't have the staff or the money to make it work.

The attraction between Logan and Eleanor is instant and deep. And discovering further connections between them only strengthens this bond. But how can this ever be more than a holiday fling? Eleanor's father relies completely on her after the death of his wife, and they live hundreds of miles away from the highlands of Scotland.

Oh my goodness this story is so swoony... I've been finding it difficult to fully articulate how much I love the romance between Logan and Eleanor, and how dreamily romantic it is. It's intimate, and sweet, with flushes of excitement as the two of them have to meet in secret and try not to be spotted by Eleanor's dad or any of the other campers. The way the author writes is so unerringly accurate, and I was pulled in so completely that I couldn't go to sleep until I'd finished the book.

Eleanor's grief over her mother is handled so sensitively, with touches that made me cry, and her dilemma about not wanting to abandon her father was so brilliantly done. In addition, we get to see Logan's mum, Rowena again, which was an unexpected highlight for me. She's just hilarious and so amazingly realised as a character.

Pitching up at Heather Glen is a swoony, dreamy, gorgeous, page-turner of a romance novel, with fabulous characters in a a stunning setting. I loved every page and know that you will too. Go read it now!

A fabulous trip to Scotland in this gorgeous book. I enjoyed joining Eleanor on her nostalgic trip back to her childhood holiday place and meeting the lovely Logan who was desperately trying to make a go of the campsite that he had just taken over.
It was a pleasure to watch these two characters connect and become close despite the setbacks that were thrown at them periodically.
Such a beautiful setting, I could really imagine the peace and tranquility of being there myself, aided by the brilliant descriptive writing by Margaret. Reading her glorious stories always makes me want to be right there with the fascinating characters in the stunning locations.

Margaret Amatt never fails to deliver. When I open one of her books it's like being enveloped in a big, fat, warm welcoming hug. Logan was so swoony. Eleanor was just gorgeous. Their holiday romance was one that many of us have dreamed of.
Highly recommend!
It was fantastic to see Logan's hilarious, vino-loving mother pop up again too! I love this series.

Every time I read a new book in the Glenbriar series, it instantly becomes my new favourite. Although in a relatively connected area, these books can easy work as a standalone, but this series is the romance equivalent of reading in a comfy chair with a box of chocolates and a view filled with beautiful blue skies.

When Logan and Eleanor meet at Logan’s campsite, their connection is instant, but it seems life is going to conspire to keep them apart. Eleanor is tied down by her sense of responsibility to look after her Dad after the death of her mother, and Logan is inextricably tied to the campsite and his desire to improve it.

They decide to act on their feelings and what follows are some seriously romantic, steamy moments filled with love. At the end of Eleanor’s week at the campsite it is time for her to leave Logan and return home to normality, but is this the end of their story?

I loved the additional characters in the story, especially Logan’s mother, who was a firecracker of a character in one of the previous books, had some humorous moments, particularly on the Segway! There were also some difficult people staying at the campsite who added to the drama and the gossip!

Pitching Up at Heather Glen is a beautiful Scottish escape with a wonderfully romantic connection.

Margaret Amatt’s Pitching Up at Heather Glen is a charming and poignant romance perfect for Holly Martin and Julie Shackman fans.

As a teenager, Logan Ramsay had loved working at Heather Glen campsite and had dreamed of owning it as an adult. But now that he’s the proprietor, his dream has turned into a nightmare of epic proportions. It’s becoming more and more of a challenge to keep his head above water and if things keep going this badly, Logan doesn’t know if Heather Glen could remain open.

Eleanor Kendrick has had the year from hell. She had lost her beloved mother, her boyfriend has dumped her and everything seems to be going awry for her. Coming to Heather Glen with her father for a camping holiday was a chance for them to reconnect and rekindle some much-needed happiness for both of them – until Eleanor’s father has a fall. When he is giving a helping hand by gorgeous Logan, Eleanor immediately finds herself drawn to Heather Glen’s owner – even if affairs of the heart are currently off the agenda for her.

As Eleanor and Logan begin to get closer and closer, does their relationship stand any chance of surviving? Or will this be just a holiday romance?

Margaret Amatt’s Pitching Up at Heather Glen is such a lovely read. Heartwarming, tender and emotional, this gorgeous tale of second chances, fresh starts, healing and falling in love will make readers laugh and cry as they find themselves completely gripped by Logan and Eleanor’s story.

An escapist and enjoyable romantic read, Pitching Up at Heather Glen was my first visit to Glenbriar, but it won’t be my last!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’ve not read anything by Margaret Amatt before, but this book sounded like fun, so I thought I’d give it a try.

I was right, it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed reading about the campsite, and Logan, who is struggling to keep it going. The scenes where Eleanor and Logan were sneaking around to see each were funny and entertaining. I found their growing relationship satisfying to read.

However, I found some of Logan’s thoughts despicable and disgusting. This sentence in particular: “He wanted to own her, worship her and make her completely and utterly his.” That just turns my stomach. You can’t OWN another person! Since he mostly seems respectful in his actions, I can only hope this is some sort of mental aberration. He also calls himself (out loud) her god, which I sincerely hope is a joke.

Unfortunately, after that I wasn’t able to enjoy the story as much, as I was concerned about Eleanor getting into an abusive relationship when she’s so vulnerable after losing her Mum.

However, if you omitted the sentence about owning and worshipping her (not healthy relationship dynamics!), and the one about him being a god 🙄, this was a fun story about falling in love and working out how to be together, and happy again after loss. And it has a great happy ending that I felt was really respectful of the characters’ journey. I really enjoyed the setting of the campsite in Scotland too, and the various places that Eleanor and her father visited.

My star rating reflects how I feel about the story without the sentences I find objectionable.

I was given a copy of this book, my opinions are my own.

TW: death of mother prior to start of story, sentence about wanting to own a person.

My Opinion

This is the third book in The Glenbriar series, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

This is a great series so far, set in a great location. I read this book in two short sittings and both times I struggled to put the book down - I just had to read more. Whilst reading this we catch up with some characters from the other books in the series, however they are minor characters. This will make a great holiday read. A lovely quick escape to the Scottish Highlands. I am eagerly awaiting my next trip to Glenbriar.

I always enjoy returning to a series and seeing how some of the characters we have met are getting along. This story focuses on Logan, who spent time at Thistle Lodge in Book 2. He has bought a rather rundown camping and outdoor activity park in the Highlands and is struggling to cope without staff. Along comes Eleanor and her father who are coming to the campsite to reminisce about previous holidays spent there when she was a young teenager. The chemistry between them is off the scale and Logan begins to doubt his ability to turn the campsite around.

His family reappear during the story, adding some humour and also warmth as they can see how he is struggling. The setting is idyllic with plenty of difficult and demanding customers cropping up. Eleanor has her own issues to work through as she grieves the loss of her mother and tries to support her father who is feeling bereft. She is in danger of giving up her own ambitions and has to listen to a few home truths as she tries to work it out. This is a lovely read. It can be read as a standalone, but the first two in the series fill in so much about the characters. I am anticipating the next in the series.

In short: love at first sight
Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book

I feel like I’ve been to Scotland on a romantic break!

I loved Eleanor from page 1, I loved how she and Logan, their connection is so deep and intimate, and the fact they have to keep it secret from her Dad and the others, just adds to the excitement – it’s written so well, that you feel all the feels and the flush of a new romance…

Margaret writes so descriptively that you feel like you’re actually at Heather Glen Campsite, yourself.

The characters are realistic and well- written too, I adored Logan’s mum, she was hilarious!

The themes in this book include, Bereavement, Father-Daughter relationships and holiday romance.

It was lovely to see Eleanor happy after such a tough year and this book reminded me that life has it’s seasons, even when we are going through the toughest of times, know that there will be brighter days ahead, even if it doesn’t feel like it at the time.

I definitely recommend reading this book – I think I will check out the rest of the series, even though this book is amazing as a standalone.

Logan now owns and runs Heather Glen campsite and it's a lot more challenging than it was working there in his teens. Eleanor takes her widowed father on a holiday to Heather Glen but soon tradedgy strikes and sparks fly between Logan and Eleanor. A sweet cosy book too curl up with in front of the fire. The sparks between Eleanor and Logan are electric with a few complications thrown in but I was rooting for them. A fun filled and charming story.

Having just been away on a camping holiday, this was the perfect time to read this book. I enjoyed it, but felt at times, I was reading about two lovestruck teenagers rather than grown adults - just a bit too mushy and over the top for me.

Logan is struggling to realise his dream of running Heather Glen campsite but has some really good ideas about how to change and prosper in the future. Unfortunately when we meet him, he has no staff so is doing everything himself. Then Eleanor appears and chucks another spanner in the works when he falls head over heels for her.

A bit predictable but still a fab holiday cosy romance that you’ll get through quickly.

Another fabulous book in the Glenbriar series. This is book three and is just as good as the previous ones. Wonderful characters, beautiful locations and romance 🥰 Eleanor Kendrick has had a heartbreaking and tough year. Feeling responsible for her dad she has put her own life on hold. Eleanor and her dad go camping at Heather Glen, a place they visited in the past, but it doesn’t start well with her dad having a fall. Logan Ramsey is the owner and is having to do everything himself but he is following his dream. He comes to the rescue and there is an instant attraction but can it lead to anything? This had some serious moments but also some real laugh out loud ones! I can’t wait for the next one!

I didn't enjoy the first third very much but it picked up after that, my least favorite of the series so far, but I'm definitely continuing the series.
