THE COMPETITION HEATS UP

There’s a new kid in town, and Nodame had better be on guard. Her new rival plays timpani like a dream–and has the hots for Nodame’s crush, Shinichi Chiaki. Plus, a wretched old man has his eyes (and hands) on Nodame. It’s a lot to handle, for a girl who has trouble just keeping her room clean. . . .

Shinichi has his own problems. A famous conductor starts a new orchestra at school, and Shinichi finally gets his chance to conduct. But he soon discovers there’s more to the craft than just following notes on a page. Could this hard lesson unexpectedly turn his life around and change his destiny? Take a look into Nodame’s world and find out!

The weird sensei has finally appeared. When I watched the dorama I found him annoying and creepy. Now, in the manga, I find him not only that, but also very pervert.

The addition of this drama queen Masumi is great, he is very funny, he considers Nodame his rival in love because he has a crush on Chiaki. The chapter where they were competing to have a date with him! Or when he was scratching the tree with jealousy!

Note aside: I really want to experience the joy of eating with a kotatsu someday.

A new character, Masumi-chan, enters story. She also fell in love with Chiaki and starts harassing to Nodame. At first, they dislike each other, but love for Chiaki connects their friendship.
Additionally, a new teacher also enters story. He is a famous conductor and he likes Nodame. He starts to make a new orchestra with awkward instrument players. I don’t know why he chooses them. New characters are really funny and weird, but cute I feel.

A menudo es difícil en el manga lidiar con el nivel de LGTB+fobia y de acoso sexual. En este tomo hay muchas cosas que tragar. Pero bueno, es Nodame y no lo puedo evitar. Yo lo adoro a muerte. Me encanta

Further secondary characters, Masumi and Stresemann appeared, and Chiaki finally got opportunity to conduct a orchestra. I enjoyed reading it.

Two new characters appeared in this volume. Many characters in this manga are so individual.
In this volume, Chiaki had a chance to learn how difficult it would be a conductor. He couldn't play his role to the end.

Nodame es chistosa, ingenua y alentadora, y Chiaki es muy pretencioso y torpe con Nodame. Me molesta esa relación. Espero que evolucione en los siguientes volúmenes.

Fuera de ello, la lectura es ligera y para pasar el rato, en algunos momentos es bien graciosa.

i watch, dorama version :

Nodame - Noda Megumi is a girl who like playing piano since she is a little girl, but weirdy she can't read a music score ?? She play it with Cantabile Style - when she hear another people playing piano, she can remembered it and played it. She is a little like stupid girl who cannot cook and really lazy to clean her apartement where she live.

One day when she meet with Chiaki-sama - the son of a famous pianist who have a dream becoming a famous conductor. But too bad his fear of flying make his dream must wait. she teaches Chiaki something that he has forgotten for a long time that is to enjoy the music we play / hear no matter when and where.

This volume definitely has some good stuff in it, but somehow Milch seems so much grosser in print! I took a star off just for him. At the same time, I like that his grossness is acknowledged, as well as his actual talent as a conductor.

Aaaaand, apparently we only have the first two volumes of this at our library. Boo! How am I gonna read the remaining 23????

That Kotatsu's chapter was priceless, hilarious, I was laughing out loud, definitely my fav part.
Nodame still as silly as always and together with Mine and Masumi just pure chaos and super entertaining. Hate that new teacher, soooo cringey, what he did is a harassment in my opinion, that part got me took a star out from my rating, I found it unnecessary.
Overall it's an entertaining read.

Re-read 2021: Another fun volume... though really? I am tired of old white geezers sexually harassing everything that is female. I was just disgusted by that guy. He grabs boobs, makes passes at girls, sexual remarks, he demands kisses, and more. I could see that he is a good conductor/good teacher, but he really needs to stop being so icky. I would like some girls file a report, because this behaviour is bad.
Masumi can also just rot in a hot place. I had forgotten what a terrible person they are. Great timpani player and I love that they make a dance out of it and seeing their enthusiasm, but their jealousy and constant remarks is just too much. Who the fuck throws a metal bucket + everything on top of someone.
But the rest of the volume was fun and I had fun seeing the characters play their instruments, see the orchestra being made, see a battle happen, a kotatsu appear, Nodame being Nodame (she really needs to grow up for once, haha, or she will die in trash), there is Christmas and New Years, and much more. I am definitely looking forward to the next volume.

Cute manga. Nodame, Chiaki, Ryutaro, and Masumi return in the second volume of the series. Chiaki gets a chance to conduct a real student orchestra.

Though Nodame is touted as the heroine, the story is told from Chiaki's point of view.

I read the バイリンガル (bilingual) version, which has the English version of the comic strips and the Japanese text in tiny print off to the side of the comic strip boxes. A quick and enjoyable read.

Amazing amazing amazing, you flip though the pages pretty quickly, its funny, and everything. Its a real manga, by Tomoko Ninomiya not those cheesy unrealistic American mangas (not that theres anything wrong with them). But being both Japanese but born in America, I think that Japanese mangas are so much better.

Slice of life musical manga. D lent it to me after we watched the TV series. So far I have to say I enjoy the TV series more, but the manga can be funny as well.

The competition for Shinichi's affections between Nodame & Masumi was kind of funny, but I still find Shinichi to be mostly a jerk.
