Student prodigy Shinichi Chiaki just can’t shake Nodame, no matter how hard he tries. Now he is forced to tutor her and Mine all night. So much for music being comforting!
Then Shinichi gets a golden the chance to temporarily fill in for Maestro Stresemann as conductor for the S orchestra. But after an unfortunate mishap, the maestro defects to the A orchestra and challenges Shinichi to a public-performance duel. With only weeks to prepare, can members of the inexperienced S orchestra pull themselves together to rival the confidence of the A orchestra? It’s going to take a lot of hard work–and inspiration from a certain free-spirited girl with a crush. The battle Shinichi can’t afford to lose has begun!

My first book for the Mehsi needs a breather relax time. I won't be reading a lot this week, but I want to read a few books. This one was tons of fun though I am still not a fan of Streseman and how he treats people/Chiaki. There are also exams and I wondered how Mine and Nodame even got so far given they don't know a lick of German. :P But Chiaki is kind at least for them and tries to help him (well, with some threats from the father). Further a lot of hilarity, stress about performances, the orchestra finds a fun way to work (or well, Chiaki finds a way t0 make it work). I had tons of laughs about the things that happened in here.
I think Chiaki is great even though he is halfway done with his learning as conductor. He suddenly replaced Stresemann and conducted the S orchestra that has many problems. It was almost out of his control, but Chiaki could get his way to make the orchestra better. I like this volume.
Nodame Cantabile Vol 3!
Another volume full of laughters and I really like it. An entertaining read. Still not a fan of Stresemann though, this old guy is creepy and cringey. Other than that old man, I really like everything. Nodame and Chiaki relationship is growing strong, Chiaki kinda getting warmer towards Nodame, and the banter still hilarious, and also I love that S orchestra debut, challenging but super funny.

This review is for the series as a (almost) whole, reviewing after reading books 1-10.
It took me quite some time to really get into this series. Books 2-4 were okay. They kept me entertained and curious enough to keep going, but I don't think it was really until book 5 that I really got invested in the series and Nodame and Shinichi.
I'm not a fan of classical music so some of the lingo and storylines went over my head, but I got the gist of most stuff. Shinichi finds himself stuck with Nodame no matter how mean he is to her. He tries to make her aware that he wants nothing to do with her, but when something goes wrong he is always there. When she leaves their apartment complex mysteriously for a long period of time he must know what happened and if she's okay. And Nodame loves him despite everything. Even though she's a little nutty and extremely childlike she does her best to take care of him, ultimately giving him the greatest gift she could give him and he doesn't even know it.
Unfortunately, the library only has the first 10 books so I'm on the hunt for books 11-16 which is proving to be harder than I thought. I did also find that Crackle has the anime series available to watch!
Nodame - Noda Megumi is a girl who like playing piano since she is a little girl, but weirdy she can't read a music score ?? She play it with Cantabile Style - when she hear another people playing piano, she can remembered it and played it. She is a little like stupid girl who cannot cook and really lazy to clean her apartement where she live.
One day when she meet with Chiaki-sama - the son of a famous pianist who have a dream becoming a famous conductor. But too bad his fear of flying make his dream must wait. she teaches Chiaki something that he has forgotten for a long time that is to enjoy the music we play / hear no matter when and where.
Amusing and diverting enough. It is the music that is sustaining my interest. Apart from that, the plot is interesting despite the characters being a mix of realistic, frustrating and just plain strange.
Chiaki replaces Maestro Milky in conducting the Orchestra S. Despite behaving like a dictator the whole time, he finally realizes the members of the Orchestra are like Nodame, and they perform an incredible concert.
Chiaki is still a bit bitchy, but he improves as a Conductor in this volume.
Slice of life musical manga. D lent it to me after we watched the TV series. So far I have to say I enjoy the TV series more, but the manga can be funny as well.
