What I loved:
This book captures the ‘work’ and play of a toddler in a perfect way, while also managing to be unique in it’s explanation.

What I didn’t:
The imagery on every page is full of traditional gender roles - adult tradies are all male, second parents only feature at home and are all female, educators pictured are also all female.
Among the ten-odd tiny tradies, only two are drawn as female, and all others are male, with no ambiguity in the genders for any of them.

Overall:
This is a genuinely entertaining story, written as much for the adult parent of a toddler as for the child, and my toddler LOVES it. I just find myself disappointed on every page by the lack of diverse gender representation.

Rollicking relatable fun makes this a joyous read for parents attempting to avoid overtime with their own toddlers. Jellett’s use of brighter than bright hi-vis orange to emphasise visual points makes the whole thing utterly wonderful.

Celebrates the busy and messy lives of preschoolers, liking it to the busy and messy lives of tradies. Love the use of fluro colours. Had a giggle at the bookkeeping before bed. Tom Jellett is the perfect illustrator to heighten the playfulness, cuteness and humour of Tami Sussman’s text. A thoughtfully produced picture book.

One of my favourite books for little kids this year. It has been written in a very witty way so that parents and carers can enjoy the little 'double meanings' throughout. Toddlers can enjoy looking for the bin chickens throughout the story thanks to the very attractive illustrations.

Fun little tradie toddlers. A very playful and witty book that is written for the parents, as much as the little ones and the illustrations are some of my favourites.
