Reid is tired of running, tired of hiding. It’s time to take the fight to the enemy. No more picking the kids off one by one, wearing them down with terror and starvation. He is ready to act and so are his friends. But something is changing inside Reid, an effect of the strange dust the hunters dissolve into when they die, and he worries he is turning into one of the very creatures he despises.
I write a lot of paranormal books for someone who is afraid of the dark. And I wonder why I have to sleep with the lights on. Sometimes life is a teenaged B horror movie and I'm the one who investigates when the scary music is playing. But the voices are calling and resistance is… Yes. I am a Star Trek geek, too. And a fan of RPG’s. With a slight coolness factor since I've been told I'm allowed to join the pops.
I started this series because the first book was free on Amazon. I was hooked from the beginning. Who is chasing these kids? Why would someone put them in the woods to be hunted and killed? How is Reid going to survive? My parents bought me the second book as a gift, and I flew through it. I still had the same questions but I loved how Reid took control of his group of friends and started to learn how to outsmart the hunters. I finally bought the third book of the trilogy and excitedly read it in a couple of days. My questions were answered. I was content... Then I realized it's not a trilogy. There's a fourth book!
I felt that this book ended at a good stopping point for me. I may pick up the series again later, but for now, I'm going to leave Reid and his exploits unread.
Reid had enough. He tried to Run, he tried to Hide, but he sees now that those were never the solution. He refuses to be a prey for the hunters. After all the running and hiding, Reid decides to fight the creatures he fears most.
For everyone who waited and desperately wanted answers: this is the book that will finally tell you all about the hunters, what are they and who is behind the experiment. Also, in Fight, we meet a different Reid. The dust the dead hunters leave behind is more like a strange drug. If inhaled, it gives Reid power and speed and stronger sense perception. It also makes him more cold and rational. He sees those things. At first, he enjoys them. After that, he starts to fear the effects of the dust and tries to stay away from it. But is he able to do that?
Even though Reid is changed and he knows that, he does nothing to stop it. And I couldn’t blame him for that (so yes, I’m still his nr 1 fan!). That place, that experiment, made him like that. He is just a teenager who suddenly became responsible for all the other kids. Some people could say he shouldn’t have risked turning into a monster. But he is human. And every human has a limit. Reid had a limit. And he did the only thing he knew for his survival.
This book is the third book from The Hunted series and I must confess I was a little sad after I finished reading it. Not because it wasn’t as good as the previous ones, it really was as good as Run and Hide. But because I knew there was only one book left. This series became very dear to me, especially the main character, Reid. I am sad that it ends, but I am sure that I’m going to love every page from Hunt!
Book 3 in "The Hunted" series builds Reid's story into a blistering climax.... He decides enough is enough: He is tired of running, sick of hiding and decides to FIGHT back. But when victims decide to become heroes they have to face parts of themselves that they usually hide from. Will Reid have to become like the creatures that hunt him and his friends to finally take them down? Will he have to sacrifice his humanity to overcome pure animal blood-lust?
Reid has been bullied, terrorized and subjected to psychological/physical torment...it is too much. He finally cracks. Now he has to face the question of his own humanity. He has to decide if he has the courage to bypass his own moral limits.
This book 3 will have your heart in a tail-spin as Reid battles not only the creatures that hunt him but his own inner demons.
Absolutely love this series of stories. I can feel the tension, and suspense every step of the way. The kids fight back and come so close to getting their freedom. Of course the evil military and mad scientist live up to expectation. The big betrayal was not really a surprise , but I don't know if the author really intended us not to know away, so I didn't feel disappointed with the discovery. Poor Reid, I have my hopes of his story ending a certain way, but I honestly don't know how it might conclude, which I LOVE. I'll be sad when I am finished with the fourth and final book. By the way I started the first three days ago and I will probably finish the fourth tonight. I couldn't put it down!
The third book in THE HUNTED series, Reid has Run, he's had to Hide... now, it's time to Fight. He and his friends realize they can't keep running, or hiding. They have to Fight the monsters who are hunting them if they have any hope of making it out alive.
But Reid is changing. Faster, stronger, better vision. It's the dust the Hunters turn into when they die. What if he becomes that which he most despises? As he fights these inner changes, he also fights the Hunters and sometimes the other kids who have other plans for how to survive.
This series just keeps getting BETTER AND BETTER! I cannot wait for the last book to come out!
I really like where this series has ended up at this point; it's not the usual fairy-tale ending, for sure! There were a lot of revelations in this part of the series, and I am still very interested in where the next book, Hunt, will take Reid. Overall I gave this book four stars. I really do like this series, and I think it has an original concept. It's hard for me to put it down, and I am curious where Reid and his group will end up. Buying the final book right after this review!
In FIGHT, the third installment of Patti Larsen's spine-chilling Hunted Series, Reid and his gang have had enough with being the prey. The kids band together to trap and kill as many Hunters as possible, testing the limits if their courage and tenacity. The aim: to fight back, to breach the fence. The road to freedom is paved with obstacles, especially the conflict which simmers amongst the kids. This quick paced novel throws the collective fear of these kids off the page, holding you in it's grip, making you beg for more.
These books are refreshing with their fast paced scenes. Things that I thought were kinda on the ridiculous were explained in a smart compact way. I can't tell you how crushed I was reading the abstract of these last two books. I can't believe Reid has turned into the enemy. I am so hopeful that the last book will bring it all together and Reid will somehow/someway finally quit running.
