Cute art and the girls get jobs. Futaro starts to realize theres more to life than just study, and determines to help them all find what they are passionate about. The rival is forgettable to the extreme so not much suspense there. Overall, an ok volume, but rather fillerish.
Honestly, considering you’d call this a ‘harem’ manga, it’s so wholesome. And I know someone may argue that it makes no sense they’d all fancy one dorky boy, but I have a counter argument.
Imagine you’re five quite shelter girls You have four identical siblings Your mum is dead Your only family is your grandfather who lives on the other side of the country, and your step father, who is a doctor and seems incapable of love. You struggle to make friends or live a life outside of your siblings and get to know many people since…well your sisters are also your four best friends and enemies. Imagine how hard it would be to make friends outside of that. Only Nino really really seems to. You all cope with this in different ways. Ichika learns to mask her emotions and pursues acting. Miku retreats into wearing headphones and learning about Japanese warlords. Yotsuba puts all her energy into sports and people pleasing anyone who asks her for her. Nino focuses on fashion, baking, and being an asshole so no one can get too close. Itsuki studies and hides her interests from her sisters. They’re all so scared to be different from the others that they don’t share their dreams.
Then Uesugi-san is asked to tutor them. He bosses them around but is trying to help them so he can look after his family. They find a connection with him. He’s the first person to really see them for them outside their family, that they’ve let get close whether they wanted to or not. Who, over time, they have seen give up a lot to help them and get to know them, all so he can help his family at first. I’m not surprised they all have feelings for him, even if they’re not genuinely love. It makes more sense than most mangas like this. The benefit as well is that Uesugi-san is not interested in trying to pursue them romantically, he’s shut off the idea of romantic love. And he’s not horribly boring and mediocre as a human.
This is one of those "I can't say a whole lot due to spoilers" volumes, but what I can say is that this was one hell of a dramatic rollercoaster. Between the girls getting jobs, thinking about their futures, dealing with family drama, it seemed like there was no end to the drama rollercoaster. That being said, I wish that the "rivalry" between Takeda and Futaro had been built up more. It started as abruptly as it ended, and while I do like that Takeda made the right choice in the end, it didn't seem to have any emotional weight because he was literally thrown in last minute to raise the stakes. Again, not the end of the world, but was too short to appreciate or gain anything from.
It seems my wish is coming true and Futaro is showing more growth after seemingly stagnating the last few volumes. His determination and strength is still admirable and the fact that he values the time he spent with the quintuplets rather than his personal agenda is great to see. Also, his little speech at the end of the mock exam was awesome, so proud.
This was a great volume and I'm curious to see how this field trip's gonna go. Can't wait to find out!
This is better than a soap opera. I am loving this story so much!
Well, he beat the interloper, and all the girls passed. The quint's father has begrudgingly rehired Kotaro to continue tutoring, at an even higher pay grade. But... father is not happy. He seems to think Kotaro is going to defile his daughters. I think it's actually the other way around. All five girls are madly in love with him, which is their father's worst fear. He's cold & distant, yet overprotective at the same time. Strange man. We have hints of how the story eventually ends, happily, with a marriage. 5 volumes left. It's still anyone's game. The girls are pulling out all the stops to win Kotaro's affections. Even he is now starting to realize he has feelings of love welling up. So what are the girls going to do? Art, excellent. Dialogue, excellent. Characters, loveable, admirable, believable, relatable, adorable.
The contents, sadly, only 3 for the book as it stands on it's own.
I just didn't feel like the story managed to get anywhere in this book. We circled around things we've already danced about several times before but the plot really didn't get moved along to any significant degree. There are probably things that happen that will be important to the story, but essentially everyone is in the same spot they were at the beginning of the book.
Verdict: If you're a QQ fan, read it so you are sure not to miss anything that may end up being important, but don't expect a lot of progress for the storyline.
The last chapter was a bit too fragmented at the end, but overall this volume continued to please me. I absolutely love the interplay between the sisters and that they stand out as unique individuals. Futaro sometimes feels a bit flat in comparison, though he has his moments in this volume as well, but this was Ichika’s & Nino’s volume to shine in. Highly recommended series.
L’histoire passe bien.
Addition of an "antagonist" that felt forced and out of place but was not disappointed how he is developed. Everything is starting to fall in place for Futaro Uesugi and gearing toward a conclusion. His reasoning towards romance sound believable when he opens up to one of the quintuplets... which will probably be repeated with rest. (sigh)
More of a 3.5 star rating but I gave it 4 stars because I’m very curious about which sister was really Rena in the throwback picture that Futaro always kept. I find it adorable seeing all of the girls work so hard to impress Futaro and especially when giving him birthday gifts.
This was a very entertaining volume. There were some great laughs and some good character developments throughout. This series makes a strong case for why I am always hesitant to drop a series. What started off weak has become very strong. Glad I stuck with it.
Middle of the road, average feeling storyline. I enjoyed it, but I still feel like protag kun lacks any real personality. I’m really hoping he gets some decent characterisation in these final volumes.
Empiezan nuevos desafíos, tanto para Fuutarou como para las hermanas Nakano. Y me encanta cómo se siguen desenvolviendo las historias y las relaciones entre estos personajes.
I am tired of the run around and honestly, I saw a spoiler for which girl he picks and it ain’t my girl!!! lol my ship will sink and I don’t like this series enough to keep going!!!
