When a lady snubs love and romance in favor of being ruined, all hell will break loose.
Lady Katharine “Kitty” Gibson is the youngest child of the Earl of Armestead. At six and twenty, she wants no part of living a fairytale and desires love even less. She has dreams for her life that do not include romance, but tolerating a man long enough to see herself ruined would be a lovely addition to her existence and might allow her past society’s dictates that domestication and a good match is all she should aspire toward.
Mr. Reginald Healy made his first fortune with the East India Company and his second importing beautiful silk fabric and selling it to ladies of the beau monde. All he has ever wanted in his life is to be respected as a gentleman instead of the “earl’s fool” he’s been nicknamed. But when he purchases a rundown manor house in the countryside and meets a winsome blonde who is not in his usual style, his dream shifts to include a wife and possible family.
While Reginald isn’t exactly the typical hero type, he tries his best to be more to Kitty than a gentleman with benefits. She thinks him endearing and a tad embarrassing, but the longer his clumsy attempt at wooing continues, romance creeps in to mar her lovely no-strings-attached affair. Terrified and confused, she sets out one night to flee into obscurity, but as Reginald gives chase, unexpected peril on the road makes them both face their biggest fears and has the capacity to show them both that falling in love can be whatever they need it to be…
Sandra Sookoo is a bestselling author who firmly believes every person deserves acceptance and a happy ending. Most days you can find her creating scandal and mischief in the Regency-era, serendipity and happenstance in Victorian America or snarky humor in the contemporary world. Reading romance is a lot like eating fine chocolates—you can’t just have one. Good thing books don’t have calories!
When she’s not wearing out computer keyboards, Sandra spends time with her real life Prince Charming in central Indiana where she’s been known to goof off and make moments count because the key to life is laughter. A Disney fan since the age of ten, when her soul gets bogged down and her imagination flags, a trip to Walt Disney World is in order. Nothing fuels her dreams more than the land of eternal happy endings, hope and love stories.
Just from the cover art alone you know Lady Katharine is not one to give in to typical female roles or allow men to treat her differently. She knows exactly what she wants but when a second chance at romance comes her way, she knows this time, she will do things differently. It's just that, she's already turned the man down once and he's not really what she wants, but he may be just what she needs. Reginald Healy has gone from poor gentleman to making his fortune, he just still lacks a title. But that shouldn't matter if he can prove himself worthy of the only woman he's ever loved- Lady Katharine. She spurned him once, but can a second time be a charm?
This was a very well written, and has an interesting story line, drama, steam, romance, and a great epilogue. It's what one would expect from a great author like Sandra Sookoo. I enjoyed it. But, I didn't much care for either of the main characters. Katharine was so entitled and snobby that her redeeming qualities were overshadowed by it. I like a strong female lead but not when she cuts down well meaning people. You had to give props to Reginald for sticking it out. But, I didn't much care for him either as he came off with major stalker vibes, in that he just wouldn't give up and his thoughts all along about making her his, didn't sit well with me. I found them both to be incredibly manipulating with each other. Perhaps in that way they deserved each other but sadly, I didn't feel the true, everlasting romantic love between them which kinda ruined some of the story for myself.
Overall I do recommend this novel for it's interesting story line and how the drama played out. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Well, I have just finished this book and I loved it. It tells the story of Reginald and Catherine. Reginald was the best friend of Catherine’s brother Edward. Who constantly make fun of him, teased him, made him out to be a bore and Edward was impressed with himself making a fool of Reginald. When Catherine was a young girl,Reginald asked Catherine to marry him. She abruptly said no, never. He left and went abroad where he earned his fortune. Catherine got married To a soldier who was killed only weeks after getting married And not consumed the marriage with his wife. So after10 years Reginald returned from his travels and bought The house next door and was currently doing it up. He met Catherine-again, she was still reluctant to marry him and the next day she visited him, they became friends. Edward didn’t know this, .then They became lovers. They enjoyed their relationship together. They got up to all sorts of Trouble together . Then eventually they married . They failed to get pregnant and had moved to London where he became An MP. Hopefully Mrs Sookoo will write a sequel to give them a baby.
The first time Reginald asked Katherine to marry him, she gave him a resounding no. Ten years have passed, and their relationship has gone from “No Chance” to an interesting second chance for the two of them. Reginald has seen the world and made quite a fortune. He still wants to court and marry Katherine. Will she accept him this time? Katherine has changed from the typical Society debutante to a hoyden. She does like or follow the rules of being a proper young lady. She acts terribly spoiled, but she just wants to be free to live her life. She is a nicer and more charitable person than she seems. Reginald is a wonderful hero and is supportive of Katherine. Katherine needs to be honest about her desires for her life, and assertive without temper tantrums. Edward, the earl, her brother, and Reg’s best friend is an arrogant jerk, but he has potential. This is a good, well-written story with characters who make you think, lots of emotion, a little danger, and a bit of scandal. The epilogue is wonderful and the perfect end to the story. EXCELLENT!!! Catch Her if You Can by Sandra Sookoo is book 3 in the Diamonds of London series and though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. What I loved about this book is that Reginald never gave up. He knew what he wanted and went to the extremes to get it. Reginald and Kitty’s romance just sizzle too. Sandra Sookoo is one of my very favorite authors and her book are so very well written and original and Catch Her If You Can did not disappoint. I found this book to be easy to read, had wonderful characters, had the real feel of the regency era, so very well written and just a true joy to read. Sandra out did herself on this one. This story has a young widow that is not looking for love but an affair, a young man that is infatuated with this lady, a really bad proposal, coming back after 10 years, realizing that a person can change, being totally stubborn and willful, doing kind and charitable acts, being patient and falling in love. I am highly recommending this book… as I said I was not disappoint and neither will you be either.

Another sensational book. Very well written, full of love, drama, intrigue, suspense, twists and turns. This author ha a way with her writing to be able to pull you into the story and keep you reading till the end then leaves you wanting more. Has a great storyline/plot as a second chance romance. Katherine (Kitty) meets Reginald as her brother's friend. At the age of 16 , she is allowed to attend a ball and that's where he asked her to marry him the first time. She refuses him and tell him he is not what she wants. After he leaves to make his money, she marries a man and becomes a widow. He goes to India and makes his first fortune, then to America to make his second. It's there he meets his wife and she dies shortly after. Reggie returns to England and meets up with Kitty and decides he still wants her. Add lots of action , emotions and you have yet again another fantastic book. Curl up and enjoy as you will not be able to put it down. Highly would recommend this book.

3.5 Stars Lady Katharine “Kitty” Gibson is the youngest child of the Earl of Armestead. At six and twenty, she wants no part of living a fairytale and desires love even less. But when he purchases a rundown manor house in the countryside and meets a winsome blonde who is not in his usual style, his dream shifts to include a wife and possible family. An interesting romance that has me sitting a bit on the fence. Why? Well there was much I liked & I loved Reginald but I couldn’t warm to Kitty & he must have loved her dearly to put up with her - a lesser man would have cut & run. The book was well written & flowed really well whilst Kitty spoiled it for me, Reginald was the redeeming feature My review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
First, cute title. Definitely fits the book. Let’s lay it on the line here, I totally disliked Katharine. I mean really disliked her. She was selfish and manipulative. Please don’t make heroines like this throughout an entire story. It’s okay to be your own person and have your own thoughts and cares, but she didn’t care one bit about Reginald’s feelings for most of the book as long as she got her way. I did admire her for what she was doing for women. Reginald. He was the saving grace for this story (I did like the plot). I fell in love with him instantly. He was caring and loving and persistent in his quest for Katharine’s feelings. He was an all-around great guy and I thought he was a dreamboat.
Sandra’s writing flows really well and I fly through the books I have read by her so I will definitely not let this book define how I feel about reading her books.
The Country Gentleman and the Widow: I don't know if you can call this a second chance at love but that's exactly what my opinion is. 10 years prior Reginald ask Katharine to marry him. "No Chance" she told him and now Reg has made his fortune and has come back and is still in love with Kitty. What will she say if he asks her again? I can honestly say I did not like Katharine at all. I found her self-centered, materialistic, very unrealistic, but that did not deter my enjoyment of this entire story. I did enjoy Reg after he finally stood up for himself to her brother. This story is filled with lots of emotions, angst, flirting, challenges, scandalous behaviors and a terrifying ending but the epilogue is heartwarming and completed the story into a really good read. Adult Advisory:🌶🌶🌶 I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest opinion and thoughts.
Catch Her If You Can (Diamonds of London Book 3) Sandra Sookoo
Katherine is a head strong, independent and feisty young woman, sister of Edward the Earl. She is the youngest of four sisters, widowed after only being married 3 months. Kitty as the family calls her is not crowing down to her brothers Insistence she needs to marry to fulfill her life. Reginald is an old friend that has just returned to England from India and America making his fortunes, but not a titled gentleman. The story of these two is such a joy, amusing and passionate story you must definitely read. The characters are well written with compassion and a bit risque, that you will enjoy their teasing and banter to enhance the story of their falling in love in recency England.
I have enjoyed this lovely romance which could not have happened but for Reginald's persistence. Kitty and Reginald are characters I quickly fell in love with and their well written story kept me engrossed from beginning to end. I read an ARC (Advance Reader Copy) supplied by Booksprout and my voluntary review is recorded above.
Beautiful different class romance filled me with surprise and engaged me from the start. A gentleman with standards and much to offer meets a feisty and independent lady. Wonderful journey to falling love for Reginald and Kitty.
His love is constant and forever but he is considered beneath her. She doesn’t care for status and wealth but she fears losing her independence if wed. Enjoyable read as he patiently provides the assurances she needs to move forward.
