A lovely metaphor of sacrifice and purpose. This story is so simple, but also so rich. It is told in a sensitive, relatable way that children and adults could feel moved by. It would have been nice if the pictures accompanied the text on the same (eBook) page, however.

I loved this book for my Nursery school, they enjoyed to hear the story and I could explain to them that they also have a purpose and are valuable just as the piece of wood that thought he wasn't. I loved the pictures and a story about Jesus. Loved the emotions in the book. The kids liked that there was English and Afrikaans for both languages. Will definitely look for more stories written by Adele.
