Oh boy. I want to start by saying I actually really enjoyed reading this book. The story was super compelling. Avril Ashton is an unbelievable writer. Her books are actually good and her characters are so interesting and multi-layered. They don’t just exist to fuck, they have families and friends and jobs and lives. I love that. But the love story in this one? *sad trombone*. Mathieu walked out on Win for another man. I actually thought Bishop and Mathieu HAD way more chemistry in Remember Me then Win and Mathieu in this book. Mathieu risked everything just to have Bishop for one more night- and then this books want to go and rewrite their whole past and actually Mathieu didn’t really love him and it was always Win and whoops what a mistake. Meanwhile Win has been off married to a super hot MC boss and Mathieu does shit all about that. And oh, btw, the husband doesn’t want Win either and they are platonic. This whole book I felt absolutely terrible for Win and hated Mathieu. I wish Jairo had wanted Win and they had ended up together because if Bishop hadn’t have left Mathieu he wouldn’t have bothered to go crawling back to win and that’s a crappy love story. I’m bummed. And I’m not one who automatically writes off a book because of cheating. I don’t mind it as long as it’s a one time thing and the character atones. But Mathieu had a relationship with Bishop. He told him he loved him and believed he loved him (he told him that multiple times in Remember Me.) He actively left Win for him. And then he tells Win it was only because he was worried that Win might get hurt because of their relationship and he wanted to create distance. Yeah okay. Obviously I have strong feelings about this book…

Avril Ashton's characters manage to make me hurt for them every time. As they are essentially mostly bad guys, I tend to lose track of the body count. This book was no exception, but they love so fiercely.
My only minor problem with this one was I wish I had read Bishop's book more recently. The best thing is that there were enough open questions left there surely must be more to come.

I have been praying and hoping since the Staniel books for Pascal and the forger’s story and I was beyond excited at its release.
This was a great story of second chances and really delving into who Win(the forger) and Pascal are and what they went through. Of course I was over the moon to see Stavros and Daniel again..my faves 🥰
The only issue I had which was a little disappointing is I think it would’ve been nice to have had at least a few flashback scenes or chapters to when they were together the first time around and the betrayal that occurred. The only reason I say that is I felt a bit disconnected on feeing that hurt Win went through and I just think being a part of that time would’ve connected the story better as to why Win wasn’t happy to see Pascal again. It just felt part of the story was missing and I struggled a little with feeling the deep connection they had.
But, that’s just my opinion and didn’t stop my overall enjoyment of seeing this crew again. They had smoking hot chemistry and I loved the plot of turf wars and the continuity of the story from Dig Your Grave.

I’m disappointed in what this book gave. I found it underwhelming and too short with a lack of build up to the forgiveness and a terrible explanation for why he cheated. I really hated it. I want to give this a one star based on how much I hated it but I like the author so I’ll just suffer in silence.
I thought there would be a good explanation for the cheating I really did. He had a months long affair!! He was in love with Bishop!!? What?! And his only explanation was grief !!!!!
I found it SO STRANGE that the author wrote Pascal as a man who slept with tons and tons of people when he’s the one who cheated and was in love with someone else. I’m so confused!! Im still confused! Why?! Why couldn’t she have written Win as the one who at least had sex ONCE?!

It was a good read but I felt like Mathieu should not have been forgiven that easily. They definitely hurted each other but Win was all about not giving in... for YEARS. And instead of being a well deserved "let me win you back" it felt like it happened out of nowhere. Yeah, I know they are the love of each other's life and that they can't wait to be with each other and I totally support that but I would've like to see more of Mathieu crawling back. I mean, like Win said... if Bishop would not have betrayed him... would he still have gone back to Win? I am not so sure.

Although this was a good book, there were some things that didn't sit well with me, or I couldn't look past. #1 There wasn't a timeline, or I didn't notice it. I would've liked to have known how long Matthieu and Win were together before Matthieu cheated. At the beginning, it tells us how they met, but then the next chapter it's 10 years later, and they are no longer together. I think it would've brought more to the story, and the reader could've connected more with the characters if we saw their relationship developed. Also, I wanted to know how long the relationship between Bishop and Matthieu was. It seems like they would've still been together had not bishop stole from Matthieu. And Win pointed this out. Matthieu denied his love for Bishop, but being that I've read Bishop's book, I don't believe him. #2 There was no groveling. Even though we didn't see these 2 get-together, we did see how They felt about each other after the breakup. Matthieu constantly saying he's sorry wasn't cutting it for me. I would've liked it more if he showed he was sorry. He did continue to sleep with other people even though he wanted Win back. Meanwhile, Win didn't even sleep with his own husband. Just because Matthieu "protected" Win and saved his life after getting shot doesn't make up for the heartbreak. I mean it was only right to protect and save him since he was the one who brought Win into that world. #3 Dieto and Starvos getting Jairo's businesses at the end of the book. How?! Jairo not being dead after all and getting away with killing Mattieu's dad. Why? How? Who started the fire at Mattieu's house and how they know about the tunnel?
All in all it was a good book. It kept me entertained. And the mention of Bishop and Dima makes me want to go back and read their books again 😊

I obviously don't hate cheating books, but what I hate in cheating books is WHEN THE CHEATING IS NOT DISCUSSED!!! We never find out how long the affair was, how he got caught, did he actually dump Win to be with his AP or did Win walk away, how long was he with his AP before they broke up???!!!
I could go on and on, but I'll just end it with what Win (H1) said to Mathieu( H2) because it tells you everything you need to know:
“I could give you my forgiveness.” His voice shook. “Except you wouldn’t be asking for it if he hadn’t broken your heart like you broke mine. Would you be wanting forgiveness if he hadn’t stolen from you the way you stole us from me? I bet you wouldn’t be begging for it if he hadn’t destroyed your trust exactly like you destroyed mine.”
“We wouldn’t be standing here now if he hadn’t done those things.”
“You would be with him to this day, and I would be alone. I would be the excess baggage you discarded because I was in the way, not important enough to keep.”
So ya 2, Win deserved way better stars🤷♀️

To fully enjoy this book, I think you'd need to do some pre-reading with Bishop's book (where Mathieu plays a big part in) and Staniel Book 2 (where our monsters in love get their HEA). I mean it technically could work as a standalone but truly, read those books and you'd better appreciate the nuances and flow of this story.
First off, The way Pascal had to grovel made my petty heart so so glad. And Win had so many quotables which were ALL true.
The writing was as brilliant as usual and despite this having more twists, turns than I was expecting it worked perfectly with the story as it was.
AND if you've read Staniel book 2, it would be an even better read because you'd know who exactly was pitting the two Miami bosses against one another. Those monsters 😂😂
Also, I appreciated this book even more because it unveiled what an intriguing character Jairo Beltran was. He was as morally grey as all the other characters I've come to adore in this world the author as created and with her promising us his book in the future I was a happy camper. It’s so strange to tease a book, appreciate that it’s a good book, but still dislike it. And really it’s my own fault. The author warned that there was cheating between the MC’s in the past. And I thought I could get past it…… but I couldn’t …. *looking at you Sam Mariano.. turns out readers like what they like….. no matter how capable the writer*
So while I’m giving this book 4⭐️ because there is just no doubt that Avril did a a fantastic job, and that how I made it through rhe book , I really hated the main pairing and disliked most of the characters including both MC’s most of the time..
I mean I disliked Matieu all the time but I toward the end I was really over Win too. The only person I like was Jairo…. He deserved better.
Quick and dirty break down: Win is a prostitute that finds himself at the mercy of a ruthless mafia man Matieu Pascal. Fast forward 10 years and Win is now married to Jairo, his past as a prostitute is secret and he and Matieu have long been broken up after Matieu cheated. BTW…. Matieu and Jairo were and are bitter enemies… Despite hating eachother Matieu has not hurt Jairo because he doesn’t want to push Win further away. But there’s a new anonymous player on the board and they are determined to have Jairo and Matieu at eachother’s throats. The tenuous peace the two rivals have maintained is torn to shreads, Matieu and Win are forced to confront their painful past and the ways they’ve hurt eachother. (Though personally I think Win getting with Matieu’s rival was just fair turnabout, and it’s really just Matieu that should have had to atone)
If you don’t like cheating I think this won’t be for you. Matieu’s redemption tour just didn’t do it for me? And especially not when there was a better option available. Of you do like cheating or at the very least don’t mind…. The story is really well done and worth the read and you’ll likely enjoy it much more than I did.

I am a huge fan of Avril Ashton’s writing, I am completely invested in the interconnected world of crime, violence, passion, loyalty, betrayal and unshakeable love that she builds with her books. The cross over plot lines and characters are sublime and completely immersive. I’ve had this book on my kindle since I finished the Staniel Duet and I finally got a chance to read it and I am not kidding when I tell you I was blown away. Ashton takes her time laying out their past from the beginning, till a complex picture of lost love emerges.
The layers and secrets piled one on top of the other are phenomenal in their reveal, keeping me on edge as the situation reveals itself to be far more complicated than anticipated, mix in the emotional devastation that both Mathieu and Win have been living with and it’s a jagged, explosive, gripping journey to go on. It’s been 10 years since anything remotely intimate has happened between them, their tainted history keeping them apart after what was an all consuming love for both of them. This follows their journey of redemption, of finding their way back to that trust and love in the midst of mafia factions at war, long kept secrets, hidden agendas and betrayals.
The chemistry between the two is absolutely fraught with desperate emotion, clinging and clawing to get a piece of each other to get a piece back. The sex scenes are white hot!
I absolutely loved the book and highly recommend it.

This was almost my first 5 star in Idk how long! I finished in less than 24 hours!
The actual prologue was set as Chapter 1, which I guess is fine. I liked almost everything and everyone, except I never trusted that d*** Cesar. Also, Win was way more forgiving than I am, so a tiny part of me wanted him to make Mathieu squirm a little longer. The story isn’t overpowered by sex scenes, thankfully, but there’s like 100 plot twists so you have to keep up. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star (I’m a little picky) was Avril leaving out major key factors: **SPOILER AHEAD**
The man who caught Win alone in the backyard to get the phone number Jairo left, was said to have “distinctly Asian features”. Yet, when Stav & Daniel brought Pascal the head of “the seventh man”, there was blonde hair, blue eyes, and a big nose. So, who was the Asian guy? Also, the guy knew Win’s real name, even though he’d had his name changed once Pascal had rescued him. How? So if it wasn’t for these 2 things, this definitely would’ve been 5 stars. But it’s one of the best entries in this series/world.

A second chance indeed
Pascal and Forger were everything one expects from an Avril Ashton book. The action, the steamy times, but also the pain and healing that her characters go through. The twists and the turns kept coming, but just when you think you've figured it out, there's another one. After meeting Pascal in Bishops book it didn't seem as if he had any redeeming qualities but that is the joy of reading this authors books is that you can forgive almost the most hated character once you understand what drives them to be the way they are. Pascal shouldn't have under the circumstances gotten a second chance from Win, but you can't help but feel they deserve one. Win thought he he could escape the hurt and betrayal from Pascal only to find himself in a situation with more hurt and betrayal. Stravos and Daniel are always great to have in a story. This book and every linked series from this author gives you a HEA with the MCs, but you know another linked story isn't far away. Bring on Jairo!

Win thought he he could escape the hurt and betrayal from Pascal only to find himself in a situation with more hurt and betrayal. Stravos and Daniel are always great to have in a story. This book and every linked series from this author gives you a HEA with the MCs, but you know another linked story isn't far away. Bring on Jairo!

My issues with the book was within me
Mathieu, I did not like, it was like Win was second prize because he couldn’t have Bishop. The excuse why he cheated on Win with Bishop was flimsy at best. Again my issue because I hate any cheating and there is warnings before you read. But still didn’t get a love connection between the 2 MC’s.
Win was a good character, but a weak man for believing Mathieu was sorry.
Jairo I loved and want his story, he and Win made sense and could of worked together. So fingers crossed he gets his story.
Story was okay, Mathieu is a weak leader with unloyal followers. Daniel and Starvos are in the book so has to be okay.(love them). You never found out certain things like what were Jairo’s businesses and how Daniel and Stravos got them.
But would still read.

Make sure to check your cw before reading to make sure this is the right book for you. These books run off characters previously introduced in prior storylines in other books. They can be read as stand alones BUT in my opinion, for a better reading experience, I would read the duet of Staniel since these characters were introduced in Dig Your Grave. On the authors website there is a guide to reading the books in order.

Whether it's about feelings of love, revenge, passion, or just humor. ( I love the banter). There are always twists, turns, and surprises. This book was no exception; I loved the surprise! I have enjoyed this authors writing since stumbling upon Call the Coroner. I recommend this.

Told in dual POV, 3rd person, it can be read as a standalone. Lately I wasn’t in luck with Ashton’s stories but fortunately this one did it for me! At first when I started reading it I felt a bit confused, like I started from the middle, I don’t know if it was intentional or because there were characters’ crossover from books that I hadn’t read but the further I went, it made more sense. This is a second-chance mafia romance with a bit of a hating game. And now I’m so curious about Jairo’s story. Hopefully she writes his story soon! Overall, I had a good time reading it and hope you enjoy it as well!

Another smash hit!
OMG I basically read this in one sitting! I missed Ms Ashton’s guys and this world. Pascal and win did not disappoint. I felt the pain, hurt, love. Couldn’t stop turning the pages the story engulfed me the action and chemistry insane. We got to see my forever favourites starvos nd Daniel. Can’t wait for the next book I think it might be the Asian man story we’ve been all waiting for 🤗

Enjoyable
There was plenty of action and just the right amount of angst. I read Bishops story but it was awhile ago so I couldn’t remember Pascal relationship with Bishop and the cheating. I felt like I was missing something, but it was a great read.

Second Chances Are Amazing
True to her other stories, the author keeps you engaged and entertained during the duration. If you’re an Avril fan than I recommend reading this. If not, then do yourself a favor and get to know the great characters from the mind of this author!

The intensity of Pascal and Win compelled me to revisit "Dig your grave'' and now I am deeply invested in Linc and Yusef's story. I am eagerly anticipating their book, as Avril Ashton's writing is truly divine.

4.5 stars!! Avril does it again!! This has angst, betrayal, love, obsession, mystery. Nice to catch up with Stavros and Daniel for a few scenes also.
There are still some unanswered questions so hopefully we get to see what happens with those!! Another great one by Ms. Ashton. 💙🖤💙

3.5* because Win didn’t get as much love as all the other male heroines in Ashton’s other books. Bishop got more love from Pascal in another book, and he was supposed to have just been the sidepiece? Dafuq???

January 5, 2025DNF. I'm sorry, the lack of grovel was unbearable for me. 55ish% in when Win and Pascal hooked up? I almost threw my kindle. No atonement. No adequate explanation. I was so intrigued and then was just mad.
