I am giving The Last Alien and Private School as a whole these two stars.

I admit that I really wanted to like this series, but I can see why the person who brought it to Half Price Books did so.

The main character, Jennifer Field, was actually a pretty good heroine. Not afraid to go against a group of werewolf-like aliens on her own. Her friends helped out in their own ways, and I liked that her best friend Marysue Beauford turned from being a Southern Belle to a Southern Snarker Badass.

Smalltown boyfriend Lee Fawkes had his ways of being a sort of charming rogue and Gordon Chang had the looks of a linebacker, but he was a smart sci-fi nerd with a very awesome mom.

I also don't scoff at the idea of alien werewolves because if you can do space vampires...

They try to take over a small Connecticut town through the guise of posh all-girl boarding school Thaler Academy in order to transform the Earth into a new home where they will turn our oxygen into nitrogen...killing the whole planet. I have no problem with sci-fi driven horror, but this didn't really garner a six-book series.

There were so many things left unanswered IMHO, but I won't question them here as not to provide complete spoilers for anyone curious to check these books out if you can find them. Again, all of this is based on my own opinion.

To have the complete set of books is still not anything to scoff at so I think I'll keep them on my shelves and hope that perhaps when my daughter is more in the target YA audience for Private School, she can give them a go.

The end is finally here. They thought all the aliens were destroyed but accidents keep happening to them which causes them to re-think it. The alien makes it final stand.
