Prisoner of Desire

Rate this book
In the wild and stormy Scottish Highlands, there are no laws, and every woman and castle is there for the taking, if only they can be defeated. Sir Alasdair Donachie has set his sights upon Glen Carrick and its maiden lady, Isobel Macnair.

Despite the valiant fight that they put up under her command, Glen Carrick is defeated, leaving Isobel defenceless against the men who have invaded her home. At their head is Alasdair, who fully intends to punish the beautiful Isobel for her defiance in daring to try to stand against him.

To his very great delight, though, Isobel comes to learn that in his arms, a punishment can instead mean the greatest of pleasures...

WARNING! Contains scenes of sexual violence and BDSM. Suitable only for mature readers.

About the author

Isadora Rose

28 books
Isadora Rose is a nom de plume for this author to unleash some of her darker tales upon the users of Smashwords.

You won't find PWP here - if that's your thing, then great, but I believe that the experience of reading erotica is enhanced by a story woven throughout that pulls you in just as surely as the erotic encounters themselves. My stories are written with that aim in mind. I make no apology for the dark twists and turns they might make, and I only hope that you enjoy the journey in every way.

My review contains spoilers and they're mostly my thoughts as I went with the book... for more, visit Punya Reviews...

I’ve never read anything by Isadora Rose before, so when I went into this, I thought, oh ok, short smut. Yet it doesn’t even begin to articulate the ‘sexual violence’ that was cautioned in the blurb.

Don’t think I can even explain just how disturbing and disgusting I found this story. It’s not that I’m a prude, or that I don’t read dark erotic stories. Few, but I have read those. It was not even the writing of the author... Everything about Prisoner of Desire ticked me in the wrong way. Don’t expect any delicious mindf*ck, cause there was none. But if you’re expecting abuse, abuse and more abuse by a jerk, you’re in for a treat!

The ‘prisoner’ part was done well but I was in utter disbelief when I tried to come to terms with the fact that someone would fall in ‘love’ with this human being, who spanked and raped her, a virgin, in front of his men, let the other men spank her too, raped her repeatedly throughout the 40 pages, kept her battered body chained to the bedpost while he slept on the bed, calling her ‘pet’. Then, this a$$hole had the gall to show righteous indignation when one of his men went behind his back to f*ck the heroine... why? Cause the ‘hero’, who was even more revolting than a villain, wanted the beautiful heroine to be his wife and didn’t want any question of the paternity of his child. ‘You want my c*ck, you know it’, then rape and repeat, is how he thinks to get romantic with ‘his’ Isobel.

If you think you’ve read it all by now, you’re wrong. In between, he gives his men permission to rape the other defenseless women of the castle (though not explicitly narrated, I got the feeling that they did), when moments before he said to Isobel that if she ‘submits’, these women would be safe. There already were no men left in the castle, thanks to these creeps.

All because the hero, Alasdair, along with his jerks, conquered this castle and staked his claim on everything.

Am I supposed to get aroused by this piece of sh!t that calls himself the lord and master of the castle? Not bloody likely!

I skimmed through because I’m still adamant about not DNF-ing a book, but this came very, very close. Also very close to being my first 1 star read. But I’ll spare 2 stars because I thought the author’s writing was good enough.

I knew there was a reason why I don’t read bodice ripper novels.

Nope. Not for me.

Too short. No story and WAY TOO MUCH non consensual sex. Maybe it's good that it was so short because I'm not sure I could have made it through a longer story. There was NO way the hero could have redeemed himself.
