I was born and raised in Joliet, IL. I wrote my first story in the 3rd grade and fell in love with creating my own world. But throughout the years I have lacked the discipline to actually sit down and write. Even with a minor in Creative Writing (which should have been my major). I have been a avid romance novel reader since Jr. High and have read hundreds. I have lived in Chicago, Japan, California and now reside in Arizona. And I wanted nothing more than to combine my love of romance, writing and traveling and put them in a book. So one day out of the blue while in the middle of reading another book, the story that I had started months ago kept bombarding my every thought. Until I couldn't even continue to read the book I was in the middle of. I put down my Nook and picked up my laptop and about fifteen days later, I had finished my first draft of my manuscript. It was the most exhilarating moment of my life. To know that I finally did it. That I finally finished something that I had started. And now I'm and AUTHOR and PUBLISHER! I never would have thought that was possible three months ago. I just hope that everyone that picks up any of the books I write from here on out, enjoy them as much as I did writing them.
I’ve been waiting 3 years for this book and it was worth the wait! While it didn’t affect me the same way the first two did, I loved returning to the Curvy Girls Club and exploring Mia’s character. I can’t wait for Kennedy’s story. I just hope I don’t have to wait another three years for it!
Honestly, this was such a fun read. The mmc Dante is an ex-porn star turned chef that has a Michelin-star restaurant and a prince Albert piercing. The female love interest is just of a badass as he is. Mia knows what she wants in life general and from sex/relationships, except Dante changes that notion. You see their love flourish in many different ways, including Mia being a mentor for Dante's daughter Celeste. It also doesn't hurt that they go to a party with people from his past - cough cough - and have a good time in front of basically a crowd of people 🤩
I was excited about this book and really enjoying it until it got weird… and not in a good way.
I loved Mia’s confidence at first, but as the book continued, it was clear she was written in a way that tried too hard to make her likable as if she’s supposed to be “perfect” other than the fact she’s not open to love. She also gave off STRONG “not like other girls” vibes. Those things, I could look past.
However…
Here’s where it got weird and where I needed to stop: Dante set a clear boundary with Mia. And rather than respecting it, she took it as an invitation to bend and break the boundary. I think the idea was seduction, but it came of as predatory more than anything and I couldn’t make it through that.
I’m going to try to read a different work by this author, because the writing itself is pretty good (flows well, makes sense). It’s just that I can’t get past the predatory MC for this one.
Mia Ayala is a love ‘em and leave ‘em type of girl. She isn’t interested in a committed relationship, and when things seem to get too serious. She’s ready to end it. Dante Bianchi is ready for a relationship, but isn’t taken seriously because of his past as a porn star. The two meet and sparks ignite! Ms. Turner has had me hooked since the first Curvy Girls book, and didn’t disappoint with this one! The characters were so believable that at times, I felt like I was right there with the girls participating in their shenanigans! Great mix of drama, humor, and hot sex scenes!
Trigger warnings: Child trafficking Sexual exploitation of minors Parental death Sexual explicit scenes with other partners Kidnapping
I seriously cannot decide what my rating should be. I think good reads need to add half stars. This book is written in third person. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, some authors can’t execute it perfectly. Some authors can write in third POV pretty well but not the best. I feel so bad writing this already. It was a decent book. It was a 3 and 1/2 star for me (but that’s not my final rating) I could see what the author was trying to do. I saw the intention and what the author wanted to happen. I saw that, and I appreciate it. There were a lot of heavy topics in this book including, child trafficking and sexual exploitation, and parental death. Because of all this, it can be a difficult read for some. I did round it up to four stars because I could see what the author was trying to do. I am excited to see what more the author comes out with and the progress in the writing.
Mia: A successful interior designer. She volunteers to be a good role model in young children’s lives after everything went down with her ex. She’s kinda sex obsessed.
Dante: A former adult performer, now turned star chef and single father. He’s trying to find a serious relationship rather than continuous one night stands.
I think there could have been more work on the emotional aspect between the two characters. There was physical chemistry but very little emotional chemistry in my opinion.
I started this "Curvy Girls Club" series with this book because of it having a retired porn star turned chef as the love interest. I was slow at getting into this book in the beginning because Mia seemed so curt and superficial and her girlfriends annoyed me at first, but the book became better after Dante's aloof daughter was introduced. I enjoyed reading Dante's pursuit of Mia's permanent companionship; I actually thought that he was too good for her at times and I was glad that Dante's daughter was there to soften her character up, which made me care about them getting together. I was also surprised at how much I enjoyed the spicy moments given that I was a bit turned off at the idea that Dante had a certain piercing. It was a shaky start, but I stuck around and ended up with a slump breaker.
Like - woah! I I don’t even know why I find myself shocked or amazed anymore when reading a book by ThE Twyla Turner! The woman is an amazing writer who knows how to capture and keep your attention with her words. She actually holds your attention for hostage because there’s no escaping once you’ve started.
So, thank you, again, Twyla for such an amazing book. Mia and Dante were phenomenal and I hope there’s a another book for this Curvy Girls Club series.
Kennedy came up with the idea to go to cooking class where Chef Dante was teaching. She talked Mia, Payton, and Royal into going to the class. I think Dante fell in love with Mia at first sight though he fought it. He was still hurting from being rejected by women not able to handle his past life as an adult film star. He also was dealing with his teenage daughter who was thrust on him after her mother died, and didn't know how to handle her. Mia was stuck because her ex husband was a sex trafficking pedophile. She didn't think she would ever love again. She felt the attraction when she first met Dante but she fought it tough. I liked all the characters, Payton and Royal's husbands McKinnon and Bradyn. I also liked how Celeste was introduced and pushed the story forward through Open Arms program. It was a real cute meeting. Mia didn't know Dante had a daughter, and that she was going to be her mentee. I loved how they were thrown together and Mia kept fighting her feelings hard, saying she wants to just have sex and move on. I loved how Payton pointed out to her that she was worthy of being loved and she deserved to be loved. I loved how she thought and actually took the time to dig in and think really think about why she was holding back her feelings for Dante. I really liked how CeCe proposed to her for them. It took a minute but Mia finally got on the same page as everyone else was on. I just loved this story and I can't wait for Kennedy's story.
I've had this book on my kindle shelf for 6 months. I have started and put it won at least 4 or 5 times. This is the third in the curvy girls series, and unfortunately my least favorite. Mainly, I found I did not really care for Mia's personality. Even with her bffs she mostly exudes an almost rudeness, which she justifies to be as a result of having married and later found out that her husband was a predator. Later in the book we find out that her own blood relatives rejected her for turning him in. While all of that is pretty rough to go through she probably should have sought therapy to deal with the emotional fall out. Instead she has decided to be the big bad boss lady, with a take no prisoners attitude, and to express her own sexuality and freedom by eschewing meaningful or permanent relationships. this attitude however, seems to have brought forth her own predatory impulses. She comes onto, uses and discards men like tissue paper. She seems unaware of or uncaring of this until Payton calls her out on it after she breaks up with Dante. Dante is not dissuaded in his pursuit of her by this, and recognizes it as a result of some past trauma. Kudos to him for that. But all of her brashness and predatory behavior was a turn off for me. I like strong women, but I found Mia to be more abrasive than most. Also, I get irritated when authors find it necessary to describe in detail the different texture qualities of hair. How many readers need or want the lesson? I don't. It's unnecessary filler. I would really like it if all kindle authors would acquire better grammar skills. Scores of romance authors are churning out these novels littered with grammatical errors which are gating and disruptive to the flow of the narrative. Either get the skills or get an editor/proofreader that has the skills and can clean up writing.
I love that this series, and especially this book, are VERY sex-positive. Mia loves sex, no apologies, and she's something of a sexual cowboy; she has no intention of falling in love. Been there, done that, and what she discovered about the man she loved and trusted has left her unable to trust anything more than a casual hook-up or three.
Dante is a major culinary force with a popular restaurant, but his past has scared off many potential partners, and he doesn't want just another one-two night stand.
The attraction between this two is smoking hot, but who will be the first to give in?
The is the third book in a quartet, about a foursome of chosen family, Black and Afro-Latina women who call themselves the Curvy Girls Club. It's probably BEST to read them in order, as each woman finds an appropriate mate, but they also work fine as stand-alones. The CGC makes enough of an appearance in this to satisfy those who've read the previous works, but without taking away from Mia and Dante's romance.
There's some light bdsm dynamics, and a sex party, in case those are a deal-breaker for you. Not for me! I love that these characters are strong enough to support and understand each other.
In the third installment of 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑢𝑟𝑣𝑦 𝐺𝑖𝑟𝑙𝑠 𝐶𝑙𝑢𝑏 series is Mia’s story. Mia Ayala (☺️ I loved how she rhymed the name) assumed that she had the perfect marriage until she found out that she didn’t. This caused Mia to keep men at arms length, while still being free to exploring her sexuality, until Dante Bianchi. Dante is looking for something different and long lasting. But is having trouble finding the woman who wants him for him, and not who he used to be. The chemistry between Mia and Dante is explosive and she accepts him for who he is a person. Can Dante convince Mia to take a chance and make a family with him and his daughter, CeCe?
I enjoyed this story and liked that Mia wasn’t afraid to explore new things with Dante. Even though Dante was no longer in the life, he wasn’t shame of where he started. I found the development of this story to be solid and the characters well-developed.
What a enjoyable story with amazing characters that are captivating with a relationship that is entertaining but drama filled. The couple has a sizzling passion and burn up the pages. This is the third story about the women in the CGC but as usual women wish that we could have sex like we don't catch feeling but that's hard for us but I appreciated that she liked her body and, that noting how her figure was just as sexy as any women. This is the kind of story that has you cheering for the friends. There is funny, sad and emotional parts. It also kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what Mia would do next. All of the drama will keep the pages turning.I'm looking forward to the next story.
Great read. I love the way that Mia and Dante tried to reconcile their pasts with their present and future. Each one afraid to repeat history yet couldn’t conceal their vulnerability from each other.
Further, their unconditional acceptance of one another’s sexuality which allowed them to only deepen their connection even though they desperately fought against it with Mia believing she didn’t deserve it to Dante craving for something real.
I appreciated the dynamics between Mia and CeCe, a relationship based on mutual respect and understanding. Not to forget the sisterhood between Royal, Kennedy and Payton and the deep love they all shared.

This book was Chef's kiss(wink wink) like the others in the series just absolutely amazing. It's about loving yourself, owning your sexuality, learning to trust after you've been broken and accepting love. Twyla create these books that take you on a ride, the female leads you fall in love with and want the best for, the male leads you wish you could find and the love they share that pull at your emotions. Signed patiently waiting for the next one ;-)
I stumbled onto the Curvy Girls Club by accident a few years ago with Peyton's story. I loved how this group of friends were there for each other no matter what. Royal's story was well done and I began biding my time for Mia and Kennedy. Well Mia's story explained so much about her character and she truly has met her match in Dante. There's something to be said for a person outside your village that "gets" you, the real you and accepts the package warts and all without judgment. Now my greedy/needy self needs one last story to unfold. Come on Kennedy!
I loved this book because it totally explained Mia's personality and reaction to the idea of falling in love. The girl's bond and friendship was so real and heartwarming, it brought back memories of high school and college friendships. I will definitely recommend this book and the two before it to my special reading buddy and anyone who likes a happy ending. I have been waiting years for this story and it was well worth it. But, I hope l don't have to wait this long for Kennedy's HEA....hint!
Book 3 in the Curvy Girls Club, with Mia as the heroine and. Dante the hero.Mia is a strong Latino successful in business but very hurt from her first love. Dante is a successful chef, single father of a teenage daughter. Dante's past career casts a shadow in the way others view him . Mia and Dante' story shows how they come together to overcome their pasts in order to make a new life. I really enjoyed the story and it was great to catch up with Mia' s friend group.
This instalment of the Curvy Girls Club was fire!!!! I loved every word, I could picture every scene, this should be a movie, it would push Sex and The City out of the way. Dante and Mia are hot, passionate, vulnerable people, even though Mia have it the biggen (I'm a cockney from East London) I loved her confidence and that she owned her sexuality. As for the Adonis, Dante he would definitely get it! I loved this book and cannot wait for Kennedy's story.
Another solid entry into the Curvy Girls Club series. Each book is a standalone, although the main group of girlfriends carries through. You do not need to read each one to know what is going on.
Book 3 is Mia’s story. I was pleasantly surprised as I thought Kennedy would be next. As with book 2, an external threat is present but it is resolved quickly. The drama exists with Mia and Dante overcoming their past to open up. (Mia more so than Dante.) Another enjoyable story.
I really felt for the main character and how her mental took a turn do to her past relationship. My only problem with her was that she needed some internal healing that didn’t happen from seeking out sex. I loved that Dante took care of his responsibilities when needed and that he saw that reckless living wasn’t in his cards anymore and was seeking more for himself. The sneaky ways to get Mia on “dates” was clever as hell. Loved that the ending was the ending and that Mia was finally able to open up to her friends to acknowledge her trauma.
i never officially dnf, if i pause a book, it's usually for a reason other than the book, i am a completionist, but i couldn't do it here. i wanted to read a little femdom, and this seemed promising, but i simply could not get through it, the writing was odd, and the main character annoyed me, i just couldn't stay in her head. i think i got to chapter nine and stopped, so i can't really review it lmao.
i will give it this book though, most insane tragic backstory I've ever read for someone's trust issues lmao
Mia and Dante were a cute couple. Mia did the right thing in turning her husband in, regardless of her family going against her. I was so happy that she had her girls, Peyton, Kennedy & Royal, were by her side for these life-changing moments. I love the fact that Celeste asked Mia if she would marry them, and making them a true family, because that’s what they all wanted in the end, it was to belong to someone.
I enjoyed th8s story of Mia and Dante. Feelings were strong but were kept in the background since they didn't know how each other would react. Celeste what's the glue that bonded these two but Mia's friends gave her a reality check which she needed. Don't let your past hold you back from your future. I love reading about the past characters and I'm looking forward to the next book.
Great story. I'm glad Mia overcame her trauma caused by her trash ex-husband. I'm even gladder the trashy ex-husband didn't make a 2nd appearance. Dante was everything. That man was gorgeous and emotionally intelligent. We stan a well-rounded Man. Great read. Lots of excitement. Loved seeing the Curvy Girls again and looking forward to Kennedy's Book
I Love it! Plenty of hot sex, but friendships and love between friends and lovers! Blood is not always family! The Ladies was a creature example of Love, when its not a man there friends love can help heal any heartbreak! Now there is another family made, Celeste and Dante and Mia, perfect family! You cannot judge a book by the cover, Mia and Dante proved that! Great read 5+
Mia was amazing, she wasn’t who I wanted to be exactly, but I wanted her spunk, her fire. I loved this story, so well written. Funny in parts, tears in others. I LOVE watching Payton evolve and become a force, no pun intended, to be reckoned with.
I want to meet Dante ;) I’m so happy Mia met her match, and he IS her match, her perfect match. Curious as to how Kennedy is going to find match 🤔
1.5 ⭐️ but rounding up? Kept reading to try and like it more but never could. My biggest gripes: It started and ended with trauma and very triggering content that was unnecessary (especially for a book that people are presumably reading for the spice?). It was full of typos and unfinished edits that were really distracting to read. And it was just really, really cliche. :/ Positives: curvy girl and BIPOC representation, sex-positive characters, some spicy scenes, strong female friendships
This book right here! OMG! Loved it! Mia and Dante had a connection that was so dang hot, the head with singe your eyebrow and eyelashes clean off. I loved how Dante would stop at nothing to get Mia, his love. But Mia kept blocking her blessing. No spoilers. Sorry. I'll just say this author wrote a fabulous story. It kept me engaged until the end of the epilogue. I was so happy that Dante, Mia, and Celeste got their HEA.
