Andy Foster never expected lightning to strike when she met the enigmatic frontman of an up-and-coming rock band, but Giovanni Carnevale left her thunderstruck. At first it is easy to use her freelance writing career as an excuse to indulge the steamy flirtation from city to city. As she gets ever closer to making her lascivious fantasies a reality, however, she finds herself trapped in the fake and sometimes dangerous world of celebrity where nothing is as it seems, including the celebrities themselves.

She hangs on to find something real amidst the illusion, while Giovanni balances what he wants against what he fears most. Over three years they come together and blow apart with the same kind of combustible passion. This keeps them orbiting in the others' stratosphere despite new relationships and bitter betrayals. They are bound together by something they can't fight, something that draws the ire of another fan determined to claim Vanni all to herself.

Unknowingly they all race toward a dramatic moment of truth that will leave two people injured, and one dead, with a twist of an ending you may never see coming.

Author of Love Plus One and My Immortal, Ginger Voight once again brings Rubenesque romance to life through a curvy heroine and the sexy rock god who wants her. It is the ultimate fantasy for anyone who has ever indulged a celebrity crush, and wondered "what if" you ever got that one chance to be with your idol. More than a romance, Groupie is a sizzling contemporary read that throws back the curtain on the lives of celebrities and the fans who love them. Adult content intended for readers 18+.

Ginger Voight is a screenwriter and bestselling author with over twenty published titles in fiction and nonfiction. She covers everything from travel to politics in nonfiction, as well as romance, paranormal, and dark, “ripped from the headlines” topics like Dirty Little Secrets.

Ginger discovered her love for writing in sixth grade, courtesy of a Halloween assignment. From then on, writing became a place of solace, reflection, and security. This was never more true than when she found herself homeless in L.A. at the age of nineteen. There, she wrote her first novel, longhand on notebook paper, while living out of her car.

In 1995, after she lost her nine-day-old son, she worked through her grief by writing the story that would eventually become The Fullerton Family Saga.

In 2011, she embarked on a new journey—to publish romance novels starring heroines who look more like the average American woman. These "Rubenesque" romances have developed a following thanks to her bestselling Groupie series. Other titles, such as the highly-rated New Adult series, Fierce, tap into the "reality-TV" preoccupation in American entertainment, which gives her contemporary stories a current, pop culture edge.

Known for writing gut-twisting angst, Ginger isn’t afraid to push the envelope with characters who are perfectly imperfect. Whether rich, poor, sweet, selfish, gay, straight, plus-size or svelte, her characters are beautifully flawed and three-dimensional. They populate her lavish fictional landscapes and teach us more about the real world in which we live simply through their interactions with each other. Ginger’s goal with every book is to give the reader a little bit more than they were expecting, told through stories they'll never forget.

3 DRAMA FILLED STARS

***DEEP BREATH*** OH.MY.WORD!!!!
:/ I'm not sure where to begin. This book was angsty, annoying, frustrating, infuriating. I was pissed eighty percent of the time and honestly, I felt like I wanted to go through my kindle and throttle the male lead character. It lacked SO MANY things that I crave in my books but it was a train wreck that was impossible to put down. No matter what torture I was going through I kept coming back for more. I KNOW.....I don't know why!!! I was so pissed and annoyed that I thought I was going to lose my mind. Could I hate a male lead more?? NO, NO, NO and he had not even ONE redeeming quality (not a single damn one)!!! It was...Ugh...completely insane. Besides from the male lead (Vanni) being a complete and utter douche, the female lead (Andy) drove me to the point of screaming and ranting. If you don't like annoying, no back bone women that allow themselves to be used REPEATEDLY, then this is NOT the book for you. She was a door mat in this book. There were a couple times where she stood up for herself and I was cheering, "YES FINALLY", but then she would go back for more and I'd be left with the same agonizing, frustrating feelings. I don't even know how to express the level of utter and complete frustration I felt.

Andy Foster is a freelance writer that travels around for work. Her best-friend Iris has told her of this band that she has dubbed the next best thing. She wants Andy to do a writing piece on the band because she says it's going to help Andy launch her career as a writer. Andy is skeptical at first but as soon as she see Giovanni (Vanni) Carnevale and his band Dreaming in Blue she's hooked. Vanni's a ladies man and exudes a rock star aura. He has the ability to make women swoon and clamor after him and has a voice that can make you sizzle and melt. He meets Andy backstage after a performance and they are immediately taken with each other.

" I had just been hit by lightning - and his name was Giovanni Carnevale. ~~ Andy

They start innocently flirting and develop an amorous friendship over a series of eight months through email and texting. Over the eight months that Vanni and Andy are apart Vanni's band Dreaming in Blue is becoming a fast success. Andy decides to meet up with the band and her friend Iris in New York to help broaden her portfolio but also because she wants to spend time with her friends and see Vanni again for his birthday. She's so excited to see him and be with him but when she get's into town she realizes that Vanni has not been very honest with her and while he's been talking to her he has also been in a relationship with a Brazilian super model named Lourdes. She confront's him about this but he insist's it not as it seems and continues to pursue her.

This is where I saw THOUSANDS of red screaming flags. Basically the gist of the book is a back and forth between Andy and Vanni. Vanni seems to have a serious issue with commitment, he's selfish, egotistical and arrogant. He has NO idea how to love a women and be respectful of them. He seems to use them and then discard them and frequently uses the line that he can't give them more than that "moment" they are spending together. Andy falls for this hook, line and f*cking sinker.

"I never thought I'd find someone whose heart was my ideal, whose eyes could see into my soul, and teach me what was real. She touched my hand, and kissed my lips and now I know it's true. No one before quite holds my heart the way that you now do. I can't promise more than this moment, girl, but please don't give up on me. You, touched my hand and kissed my lips and set my spirit free. No one can promise forever, it's never ours to give. If only for this moment girl, I'm so in love with you." ~~ Vanni

She knows what she's getting into and does it anyway. Not only does Andy have to suffer with Vanni's wandering d*ck but also has to deal with a stalker that seems to pose a major threat to Vanni.

Vanni is not the only one who is after Andy though. Graham is the executive of a major recording label and is smitten with Andy from the get go. He is the "good" guy is this book. The one that really deserves to be liked but doesn't really stand a chance.

This book is intense and angsty and I don't know if I would recommend it. I'm really on the fence. I will definitely read the second book in the series Rock Star though. I need to know how this is going to turn out!! What I can say is that this author can write. She can definitely evoke emotion and leave you thinking. She has an excellent way with words. I just felt this book lacked something that I need in my books and that's a deep emotional connection between the characters. Vanni and Andy did not have that for me. I felt disconnect from them. There was to much drama and not enough thoughtfulness shown from Vanni. All I saw was his selfish actions and Andy's desperate ways to hold on to him. A lot of my friends had a different reaction to this book though and enjoyed the drama and angst. This is a toss up. If you love angst then give it a try, you might land up loving it.

P.S ~ I wanted to give an honest review and hate being negative about books that I don't fall completely in love with. That being said I wanted to give my opinion, my take on this book. Please just take it as that, it's just my opinion. It in no way reflects negatively on the author. I want to be sure to state that. I'm not trying to upset and hurt anyone's feelings that loved these characters and this book, BUT I felt the need to rant a little bit!! ;)

Four Very Angsty Stars

**Warning: This review contains a lot of expletives. Reader discretion is advised**

“Someday I’ll wake from this dream and hold my angel in my arms. And she’ll know all along I’ve wanted her.”

FUCK MY MASOCHISTIC SIDE!!! What the fuck did I just read? This was pure angst. I was fooled by the allure of the rock star story line and was immediately drawn to it. So here I am, hoping to read a nice predictable story involving a sexy rock star Hero. So what did I get instead? A cannot-put-it-down-no-matter-how-pissed-off-I-am story. Fuck! This story fucked me up and fucked me up good. Thinking about this story still sets my blood on fire. Why do I do this to myself? I could’ve stopped the pain. I could’ve stopped the train wreck, but NO! I soldiered on because I’m demented and wanted to know where this story was going. Shit!

Music was his foreplay, and I was powerless to stop the seduction the minute he opened his mouth and pure velvet poured forth.

When I first met Giovanni (Vanni) Carnevale, I admit I was immediately drawn to him. I’m normally not a chick who likes guys with long(ish) hair, but I still thought Vanni was sexy as sin. Add on the fact that he’s the lead singer of Dreaming In Blue (DIB), oh yeah, Andy and I didn’t stand a chance. I really liked Andy, for at least most of the book. She’s a real woman, not the typical tiny, big boob, size zero groupie. I loved that Vanni fell for her. The only drawback was that Vanni and his band were on the rise and committing to Andy was not in the cards. Andy was okay with that. Me? Not so much. This is where shit starts to hit the fan.

**Deep breath** Okay. Up to a certain point in the book, I was a happy camper. I was blissful that both Vanni and Andy were happy in their little bubble. They had a relationship, but it was never made public. However, Vanni is a very sought after star. His ego was getting bigger. Just when I think he and Andy were on the right path…BOOM! He gets caught with another woman. Right here is when my heart began to crumble. No amount of excuses was going to save Vanni, especially when he bails on her . Andy deserved better. Enter Graham Baxter.

Graham is the president of a very successful record label. He first meets Andy and Vanni at one of his shows. He shows interest in both Andy and DIB. Andy was deep in love with Vanni so nothing initially happens between the two. However, when Vanni breaks her heart, Graham was in the right place at the right time. Knowing Andy wasn’t ready for another relationship, Graham was very patient. He gives her time and space to sort out her feelings. He is the sweetest man and all he wanted was Andy. Andy’s heart, however, was still Vanni’s to stomp over. This was when I started to lose my patience with Andy. I wanted to slap her and yell “what the fuck is the matter with you??” You have the gorgeous older, wealthy man practically pining for you and what does she do? She makes dumbass mistakes, that’s what. UGH!!! I was livid at her treatment of Graham. She’s willing to live half a life loving Vanni rather than a full life loving Graham. What the fuck?! **Counting backwards…3…2…1…deep breath**

Okay. I just don’t see the logic. After all the shit Vanni put her through, she’s willing to setting for this half life? I want to say “fuck it” and slam my iPad down and walk away. But do I? Of course not. I’m a masochist and I couldn’t put this book down for the life of me. I wanted to see how it will all pan out. I wanted to see if Andy and/or Vanni come to their senses. Alas, the ending just left me more frustrated. Yes folks, it’s a cliffhanger and it’s a doozy.

I have such a love/hate relationship to stories like these. I love how the author is able to elicit such emotions out of me, but I hate how she practically rips apart characters to do it. I have to sit back and admire that. As much as the story pissed me off, I cannot deny how liberating it feels to get so absorbed in a story. So if you like angst, this book is definitely for you. As for me, I want to stop the madness, but I’m a glutton for punishment. Oh yes, I will be diving into book two as soon as my blood pressure lessens OR when book three is available afterwards. Whichever comes first.

“Why?” I cried into the phone, and I didn’t even care how pathetic it sounded.
“That’s just who he is,” she reasoned softly. “He needs more love than one person can give him. That’s what makes him a star. Bright enough to shine for everyone, but far enough away that he can never really be caught.” -A sobbing Andy to Alana

Welcome to the Heartbreak Hotel...

'I may not have been able to avoid falling in love with Giovanni Carnevale. The mistake was when I thought I could ever claim him as mine.' ~Inner monologue of Andy

Andy Foster is a freelance writer who falls in love with Giovanni Carnavale(Vanni) the lead singer of Dreaming In Blue. She meets him while working on assignment in Philadelphia.

'Giovanni was pure sex. Ever masterful in this art he sang that verse to every girl in the front row, standing over each of them with his thumb hooked to his belt loop, drawing attention to the promise of the bulge in his pants.' ~Inner monologue of Andy

Flirting turns in to late night phone calls and texts while Vanni is on tour. The months and months of late night calls build in to an intense and HIGHLY ANTICIPATED sexual tension that they plan to fulfill as soon as they meet up again.

 photo lovelustgif_zps1d1a2188.gif

Though she's been warned Andy can't resist him. She's being pulled in by his sexual prowess...

"He’s never been married. Never even been close. His relationships generally fizzle out after about a year or so, and even before then he’s always sneaking over in the next yard to find out if the grass really is greener.” Alana to Andy

Then she gets hit with a ton of bricks... She finds out that during all those months he was talking to her and building up that sexual fire that he has a girlfriend. A tall, beautiful, South American girlfriend who is also a model. Lourdes. Andy can't wait to confront him and when she does he is quick to tell her that all is not what it seems...

When Andy and Vanni hookup... B O O M

The two come to an agreement...a no strings attached agreement. Of course it doesn't take long for Andy to realize that she is in love with Vanni. Other facts about him and his rocker lifestyle start to surface; making Andy question where she stands with him.

'There was no denying it anymore. I wanted it all.' ~Andy

You couldn’t own someone who belonged to the whole world, and expecting anything else was self-destructive. No matter how he touched me when we were alone, or the whispers he’d drop in my ears – the Vanni the whole world got to see was community property.' ~Andy

 photo tumblr_md4t0fFiK41r7ub9c_zpsc1b5f6ce.gif

'I couldn’t see Vanni spending any significant time in acquiring road trophies by anonymous one night stands. But then again, he certainly had time to spend with me when I’d travel to see his gigs. The only real difference was that I wasn’t a groupie trying to bed the big rock star. Was I?' ~Andy

For three years.. Three freaking years these two play ring around the fucking rosie with love and heartbreak..

'I wasn’t falling for the man. That was impossible. I barely knew him. But I knew he wanted me, and I wanted him, and there were few other reasons required to explore that kind of attraction in modern America. I renewed my birth control and bought some condoms – a must for any sexually active adult – and figured I was a big enough girl to take whatever else that followed.' ~Andy Foster

Things get very interesting when Graham a music Mogul puts his hat in the ring by telling Andy he wants her. And not just for sex... He wants her in his life permanently. Of course Vanni is not liking this. Nope, he is not liking this one bit.

“You make sure that you do everything in your power to keep her from getting hurt in the future. Because if you can’t, there are others who love her enough to protect her and treasure her the way she deserves to be.” ~Graham

My Thoughts
The main problem I had with this book was the heroine, Andy. She settled for what she could get from Vanni and that shit wasn't much besides some good sex and a "I'll see you around..." Ummmm no. Not good enough for me. He had his cake her cake, the cupcake and whatever else he could get his hands on. This aspect of the story brought my mood down. Thus the 3 STAR rating.
The writing was good the author draws you into this world like a moth to a flame. YES I will continue with this series I need to know how it ends... I need to know who Andy ends up with.

Dear Readers
I rated this as a Read At Your Own Risk because cheating, betrayal and heartbreak is not for everyone.. Especially the cheating part. If you can handle that then read it.
So why 3 STARS you ask? Well that's easy, I liked it, I didn't love it! I think the whole back and forth between Vanni and Andy put me off. That takes nothing away from the writing of course; which as I previously stated was quite good.

My Ratings
Characters- Likeable
Writing Style- Good
Plot/Storyline- Sexy, Honest and very rock 'n' roll
Steam Factor- High/Very Steamy
Overall- I liked it! And I will continue the series!!

Now go forth and read. Then come tell us about it on Goodreads!

UGH!!! I'M SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW!!!!!

3 LOVE ROLLER COASTER STARS FROM HELL!!!!

This book was crazy!! I really don't know if I actually liked it or not. The only reason why I gave this book 3 stars is because I couldn't stop reading about all the drama.

Short overview, Vanni is an up and coming rock star. Andy is a writer trying to break into the entertainment business. Eventually, they end up together in this drama filled on again off again relationship.

I really wanted to slap Andy the whole time while reading this book. In the beginning, I really liked her character. She was cute with this spunky sarcastic attitude that I really liked. Then, she started acting like this lovesick helpless puppy when it came to Vanni. It was so irritating!!!. She kept taking Vanni back after he would do these hurtful things to her. I just wanted to slap or choke some sense into her.

All I have to say about Vanni is that I hate him!! He is one selfish bastard for how he treated Andy over and over again. I really don't know if I want to read the next book, but I bought it a while back in a bundle so I have to read it. LUCKY ME!!!! I hope this story gets better in the next book.

Horrible. If you enjoy reading about a doormat who pines after a cheating piece of shit who has moved on with OW, while she remains celibate and pathetic, then this book is for you.

To say I enjoyed this book would be a colossal understatement!

This is a story about Andy and Vanni ...

Sometimes they say "a picture is worth a thousand words" so let me illustrate Andy and Vanni's relationship with a following GIF:

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Loved the story, the writing, the angst (and usually I am NOT a big fan of angsty books) ... pretty much everything about this book was perfect, IMO!

I am just glad that the next two books are waiting on my Kindle so off I go now ...

Cheerios!

More like 1.5 stars

This started out as a promising read, the girl seemed like a strong and sassy lady and the boy seemed like a hot bad boy rockstar, 2 of my fave things in a book. This lasted for a few chapters only the lady lost her backbone completely and became, sorry but I have to say it, a pathetic and whiny girl without a stint of dignity and I was SO pissed because she started out so good!!!

And the guy, I like sort of alpha guys, strong, decisive man who know what they want and know how to get it, this guy was just a plain old asshole, childish, diva. I wound up hating him for hurting the girl so much and her for just letting him do it over and over again.

I need my bad boys with some redeeming qualities, with heart, this one was just an asshole. My stories with some depth and a connection with the main characters is a must and both were missing for me here.

Um Um Um.......I love me an angsty book and this one definitely delivered! Vanni the bad boy rockstar you love and hate his guts at the same time. Andy... I love her, first because she's an average curvy girl not a stick figure and second because she's just a regular girl. Andy and Vanni are like each others choice drug, they are horrible for one another but they can not help going back for more. Graham, who is Vanni's boss, the owner of the record label and Andy's other romantic suitor....he is sweet, patient and very in love with her. Poor Graham I just don't know if he will ever be enough to erase Andy's need for Vanni. Toxic love...I love it and now on to Rockstar to read the rest of this crazy story!

So this book wasn't amazing or anything but it has one of my favorite tropes - celeb + regular person - so I just couldn't get enough. But, not gonna lie, these people were kind of disasters. There may be tiny spoilers ahead.

When Andy meets Giovanni Carnevale, or Vanni, she never expects the instant connection that she feels and she's even more surprised when he seems to feel the same. But Vanni is an upcoming star and he has an image to uphold and that image doesn't include Andy. Thus begins a back and forth love affair that leaves Andy shattered in more ways than one by the end of this book.

For the most part, I liked Andy. She was a career driven woman who was good at her job. And for the most part, she knew deep down that Vanni wasn't good for her. But the one thing that really bothered me was how she just kept going back to him no matter how horrible he was. And believe me, he was pretty horrible.

Giovanni Carnevale. Oh man. He's a character. And apparently one woman is not enough for him. He sleeps with Andy, but then goes and sleeps with his dancer and then goes and sleeps with groupies. But claims he loves Andy but can't be faithful. And then he gets mad when other people show her attention. He was so frustrating!

While the two mains drove me absolutely nuts, I really loved some of the side characters. Mostly the other band members, Jacob, and Alana. They rounded out the crazy and gave the story more realism. I am definitely interested in seeing where this series goes because that ending was not great.

I have never ever ever been more frustrated with a male character as I have been with this manwhore mofo Giovanni Carnevale. *I love love his name* Anywho...

The book starts off with lies and ends in lies. Andy is a freelance writer. She has the opportunity to meet Dreaming in Blue and the enigmatic Vanni. She is instantly attracted to him and he to her but she doesn't trust him. Like I said, it starts with lies. He says the right words. Goodness does he ever but then the asshole manwhore in him comes out and it always, always blows up in his face. They have great chemistry, great sex and their talks are heartfelt. We get to know Vanni more with the best scene in the book, at least for me, during his visit to Andy during Christmas. Just when you think they can make it sooo good, Vanni fucks it up. He's not faithful even though he dropped the L word to Andy during this time to only on New Years to fuck around. Gah! He frustrated me!! He tells her basically that she's the one but he gets to much in his head that he chickens out in their relationship. While he's with Andy, he's also with Kat(a pole dancer on his set with the band) and while he's with Kat, he's with groupies. They're all idiots! All of em!

And just when you think that Andy will stand up to Vanni and not fall into his trap, she doesn't. Though there are times where she puts him in his place and tells it like it is but then he gets his feelings hurt and she feels bad. But then again Andy hurts Andy as well but not as bad as he hurts her. Their going back and forth with each other spands 3 years. So it's 3 years of bullshit. Another player is Graham but he's a good kinda player. He has real feelings for Andy and he's not afraid to show it. In the end, Graham makes the sacrifice to keep Andy safe from psycho and from this Andy and Vanni are no more...or so we think.

Final thoughts...I could not relate to Andy with the way she put up with Vanni. That is so not me. He would have been kicked to the curb from the very beginning.

First I have to say Ginger Voight you are B-R-I-L-L-A-N-T! Man oh man can I say that I have never ever screamed at a book so loud and fiercely like I did this one. Man I had so many freaking emotions I felt like I was 10 again on the tea cups at the amusement park. I kept thinking okay did that just happen. Oh Lord WTF??????? You know I had a lot of those moments because I could not believe the things I was reading. Then there were times when I cried because I could really feel what Andy was feeling and I wanted to throttle Vanni. Lord if he were real I am guessing a lot of us would have hunted him down and given him a piece of our mind. I couldn't help but laugh and call one of my friends who is in a band and tell him about this book. He laughed so hard because he said some of the things I told him were true and I just gasped because dam I would not have acted like that or done those things to get a guy. I would make a bad groupie because what is mine is mine and if you touch or stray I pity you. So now that I have that ranting out of the way I will commence with a Spoiler free review.

Andy Foster is a freelance writer for a magazine. She is enjoying her life writing whatever she wants when her best friend tells her she has to do an article on this up and coming band called Dreaming In Blue. Andy is intrigued and agrees to interview the band for her friend. When she goes to see the band and meets the front man Giovanni Carnevale she is struck by his beauty and his charm. He is so full of life that she wants to get to know him. She is struck by him and wants to get to know him better. As they carry on a long distance friendship via texts and e-mails Andy starts to fall for Vanni but is Vanni being honest with Andy?

Then there is sweet loving Graham who is an executive of a major recording label and he is smitten with Andy. They become friends even though Graham wants more from her he knows better than to push it because she has feelings for Vanni. But good ole Graham is always there for Andy and Andy loves him like a friend so he will take that for now. Graham has decided he will fight for Andy but do it from the sidelines.

What will happen between Andy and Giovanni? Will he open his eyes and see the gem right in front of him or will he continue to live his rocker dreams and be a man whore.......

ok, what to say about this book. How can I be ok with a book and not like any of the characters in it? I think because it did at least get me emotional while I was reading it. I got so mad and discusted with the H/h. I really don't know how to describe it. Vanni is a selfish, self centered, lieing cheating asshole, and Andy has such a low opinion of herself that she convinces herself it's ok the way he treats her. If you get any age on you as a woman we all are guilty of overlooking and forgiving men for things that maybe we shouldn't but come on this was on a level that was just jerry springer pitifull. I don't know but I guess I just don't care for books where the H/h say they love one another but neither really do. Andy is just obsessed and Vanni is just a woman using man whore. Andy lets all her so called friends use her in one form or another to do jobs that they don't want or have time to do. They all treat her as if they feel sorry for her,(that is not friendship), and none of them tell her what Vanni is really like until after she finds out on her own and then they are like "oh yeah, he's always been like that". If they were friends at all they would have told her before when she kept asking them what they meant when they would tell her to be carefull around him. If you like a book that is about being obsessed with someone to the point of letting them treat you like an unpaid prostitute then you will like this book. Since I bought this book as the bundle I will read the follow up Rock Star but if things don't somehow change dramatically I sure won't be wasting the money or time on book 3.

I've never been so frustrated with a book, the lead female angered me so much, i kept turning the page hoping she would wake up and grow a back bone, and as for Vanni,, well there has never been a lead guy I have wanted to smack in the face as much. I kept thinking/hoping he was going to turn himself around by it just never happened, he started the book as an egotistical, womanising, adulterous arse and ended the book exactly the same....and yet I feel myself moving straight on to read the follow up. As frustrated and angered as the book made me feel I just need to know how this one ends, I just really hope that these characters can redeem themselves.

Before I dive into Rockstar - I needed a short break. This book started slow for me - and was not the typical hot & steamy rock god romance. Although you are immediately drawn into the relationship of Vanni and Andy. The author takes their time, introducing you to the various cast of characters and then dives straight into the turmoil of a off the record affair. Andy is bound to accept any piece of Vanni she can get, and Vanni is quite set on giving her just a piece of himself - leaving the rest to every other woman in his life.

I have had my share of celebrity crushes in my 32 years - I have met a handful of those crushes face to face, had my photo taken - gotten a kiss on the cheek and even had a few choice options for a private moment. I admit that my crushes on those I met were never full on - do-anything-to-get-a-chance type crushes though. I was happy with the brief acknowledgement and the short lived glow of knowing that I had a chance to meet some of those who always seemed so out of reach. The way they made you feel special, like it was all your doing for them being there. I never had a rude or crude (overly) encounter. It was nice to read a book that showed the aspects of all sides. The star that wanted to fulfill the fantasy and obligation of those who allowed him to live his dream. The girl who thought she was "inside" enough to handle the situation and the fans that felt that every look or word was meant just for them.

I have had an idol sing a lyric to me - I have been that fan in the audience that felt the whole world go away, sitting in the front row and feeling like it was a secret passing between to strangers. This book showed this aspect of the rock and roll lifestyle vividly. A true star can make you feel like everything else doesn't exist in the moments they give you. Vanni was giving his moments to those he loved. Andy was trying to make those moments be enough to matter - enough to make it.

I am glad that there is more to this story and I can't wait to dive into Rockstar. I have a feeling that the sadness and the tears shed for Andy in Groupie will have some company as I get mixed up in part 2 of this story though.

You can't help but love Vanni, although he comes across in general as a selfish prick - you know that he has honest and real feelings for those he loves. Maybe one person is just not enough for him to give his heart to. Maybe...he there are just too many people he has to be and for each one of those personalities he has to have someone to love that part of him so he is not alone.

If you find yourself dragging your feet with this story at first - give it a chance. It gets better and it gets dramatic as it unfolds.

OMG--I stayed up til almost 1am to finish this book. There was a lot that I loved about this story-but the way the author wrote the emotions of the heroine/hero were very heart-felt.
I went to bed thinking about this story and felt myself wondering if I really liked Andy and Vanni...and when an author makes you think, I love it.
These 2 characters were flawed in such a way that you could understand how they behaved the way they did---one thought that I kept returning to as I read this story was this--YOU CAN'T PICK WHO YOU LOVE. And that is so true with two people.
I sure as heck up there is another story, because the ending was a huge WTF moment for me. So let's hope Ginger will continue this heart wrenching story.

So Aggravating

Andy I don't believe she has any self respect what do ever. Anytime she is around Vanni she falls in bed with him knowing he is not faithful. Not only that she drags a good guy Graham done with her.

The execution left me bored during the h’s first POV. I think I remember why I set this sucker down 2 years ago. Unfortunately I stayed bored through the whole thing. It absolutely needed the H’s POV.

The H/h sex scenes were PG-13 compared to several with OW from the prequel...WTF?!?!

I’m glad I read #4 in the series first (the prequel). I’m just not sold on the Vanni in that book to the H in this book :/ I think I could easily hate the H/h. Poor Graham. The H is an inveterate manwhore, but I’m not sure it’s ever really made clear who he slept with.

Edit 2/25/13
I've decided to lower my rating to a 1. After reading the next two books, I could not get over Vanni's disgusting behaviors in book 1, which pretty much ruined the rest of the books for me.

I don't regret reading them, but, I'm not sure if I can recommend them to anyone.

3.5-4 stars. The writing was excellent.

But, I really hated Vannie. I don't think I've come across a male lead in a book that I've hated so much. Even huge assholes like Tony (in Consequences/Truth) and Jeremy (in Comfort Object) had redeeming qualities. I couldn't find any in Vannie.

He just wanted what he wanted and didn't care about who he hurt. I mean, UGH!

Also, Andy needed to grow a pair, have some self respect and stop letting Vannie walk all over her.

I'm going to continue reading because I heard he's better in the next one. But, honestly, that guy is just too selfish and self-centered for me to love.

3 Angsty in this moment stars

this book you get addicted to reading it.. and you hate it...but it sucks you up...but then it makes you want to vomit and its like a never ending cycle. It is well written as far as verbiage and relatability go but in the same breath it could be 1/2 as long and rate better the long drawn out back and forth from our main characters gets to the point of "I could skim this and not miss anything" . in my opinion it doesn't end at an OMGGGG cliffhanger more of a ... do I need to find out more or is that enough for me. I think the issues in the book wrapped up too easily too fast. There could have been more details and plot twists to keep the length where it is at..

with all that said I am going to add this series as one to finish but im not in a hurry to do it

3.5 stars. A year ago I probably would have rated this book higher because I enjoyed it and immediately picked up book 2. I've become stingy with stars! Anyway, I enjoyed that the heroine was unconventional and I felt her connection with Vanni and was thoroughly entertained by the story. I liked that the author explored different kinds of groupies and showed us some of the more extreme versions. I felt slightly disconnected from the characters (like the story was being told to me and I felt...removed), parts were rushed/under-explained and I found myself not understanding Vanni and Andy's actions ... BUT I was entertained and am reading Rock Star so want to see how it all turns out!

Wow, this story is a definite mind fuck. Vanni is a character you love to hate and hate to love. He just doesn't have his shit together. He uses his rockstarness as the reason and it pissed me off. Andy Foster falls hard for Vanni and they both start flirting and developing a relationship. However, Vanni is living the rock star life and is on the arm of every hollywood eyecandy that he can find. See one thing about Andy is that she is not a size 0. She has an ass and boobs. She's rubenesque. The ending of this story left me in shock and I'm currently reading the second one now!

4.5 Stars. Oh my how I love a good rock star/bad boy book!!

Giovanni (Vanni) Carnevale: Up and coming Rock Star God. Long brown hair, deep brown eyes, tall, dark and handsome. Love em and leave em. Beautiful voice, romantic, personable to all his adoring fans. Arrogant at times. Absolutely terrified of commitment and of course blames it on his father who left him at a early age.

Andy Foster: free lance writer. Full figured, ordinary but extraordinary, small town girl who falls hard for the up and coming rock star

Graham Baxter: President of a West Coast record label. Divorced, no kids, nice looking, forty something, very successful man who knows what he wants, which is Andy

Dreaming In Blue: Vanni's band

Andy's best friend Iris talks her into leaving her Nashville Tn home to come listen to the "next big thing" which is the band she is representing in New York City called Dreaming In Blue. As soon as Andy lays eyes on the lead singer of the group, Giovanni Carnevale, and hears his mesmerizing voice she is smitten but doesn't try to pursue it because (1) Iris has already said that yes he is definitely eye candy but so not boyfriend material and (2) He is absolutely gorgeous and why would he look twice at a full figured ordinary girl like Andy?

When Vanni meets Andy for the first time he knows she isn't like all the other girls. He knows she is special.

Unfortunately with all good romances, the path is never easy is it? This book will make you feel like your heart is being squeezed and shoved back in your chest. It seems like every time Andy and Vanni get close to acting on their attraction to one another fate has other plans. Those plans include a witch named Lourdes who just happens to be an exotic model and Vanni's current girlfriend. But as they say in show business " Not all is what it seems"....

"Tip #1 everyone wants something. You have to know what that is, to really know what's going on. "And what do you want". I asked before I could stop myself. "I want a lot of things. Success, acclaim, happiness, You". He added softly...

Vanni literally made me feel all kinds of crazy emotions. At times my chest hurt from the anxiety. He could be so romantic and sweet and attentive to Andy. He would write beautiful love songs for her.....

"No one can promise forever. It's not ours to give. If only for this moment, I know this much is true. If only for this moment girl, I'm so in love with you"

Then he could be the biggest horses ass I have ever seen in my life. He could be down right cruel and heartless. And finally when Vanni took advantage of Andy one too many times she finally opened her eyes and see's Graham. Graham has loved Andy from afar and been the shoulder that she used to cry on when Vanni took advantage of her, used her and walked away from their love again and again. Graham knows how special Andy really is. He is a successful, mature man who only wants to give Andy everything she deserves and he knows she deserves more than Vanni will ever give her.

Oh how I loved reading this book. It took me on an emotional roller coaster with all kinds of highs and lows and I loved every minute of it. I'm just so very thankful that I didn't stumble upon this book before Book #2 "Rock Star" was released because my little heart could not have stood waiting since Mrs. Voight finished it with one heck of a cliffhanger. Now Im off to read "Rock Star" and I strongly recommend you to go purchase these books right now because they are fabulous!

I am speechless... I am going to try and write a review for a book that absolutely leaves me with few words. This book captured me and I could not put it down. Not only that but it seems I am going to be up half the night reading Rock Star, the follow up book to Groupie by Ginger Voight. This book was insane. I am afraid my review of it will be all over the place as are my emotions.
I loved Giovanni, I hated him, I loved him, I hated him... Then enter into the mix Graham... I don't know Andy did it, but my heart was so torn between these to men. And yes, you add into the mix that Vanni is a hot rock star and I am torn even further. I do love my fictional rock star boyfriends, but this time, it was so much more of an emotional mess I wasn't sure what I was going to do or who I was going to love.
Andy Foster is travel writer from Tennessee who has always wanted to write entertainment news. Her big break hits when her best friend begins doing PR for a new up and coming band, little did she know that the chemistry between her and the lead singer would be so strong. But when things finally fall apart around her, a patiently waiting new man is there for her. But can she be there for him?
Oh, I am so not giving away spoilers on this one, mostly because I want to write this review and read the next book immediately. This may actually cause me to lose sleep.
This book is full of hot men, great friends, and angst. I have a feeling it is the perfect long weekend trilogy read, unfortunately, I started it at the end of the long weekend. UGH!
My heart broke and mended right along with Andy's. She is not perfect, but she has such a big heart with amazing love to give. But who ends up with it is anybody's guess, all the way through the book.
Now when I say I loved and hated Giovanni all at the same time and at different times, I was not joking. He is amazingly hot and the scenes between him and Andy took my breath away. Throw into the mix some psycho fan and you have the biggest rollercoaster ride ever!
This book was amazing and frustrating. And with that my jumble of words that I am trying to pass off as a decent review here must come to an end... I have a late night date ahead of me with these characters in Rock Star, the second book.
