This was a great book that illustrates the quote “your talent will make space for you.” Houston had a purpose and kept finding new ways to elevate the community by elevating himself. He showed the power of relationship building and what that can do for you when you meet the right person with the right level of influence and decision-making authority. I’d only known of Houston as a Black designer with clothes in Target, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The world needs more Houston Whites.

White is an inspiration both as a community builder and a businessman. This short book offers insight into his story and how it’s shaped his motivation to build his vast empire. It’s both memoir and guide to how to lean into your purpose. White is deeply talented designer, community activist, businessman, entrepreneur and more. I really enjoyed it!

With so much bad news weighing down my spirits it was inspiring and energizing to read about Houston White's journey and work to build a strong community.
