Intriguing Prequel

A fair, at times thrilling, intro of Camille and Trillian. Their instantaneous attraction sucks you in and keeps you glued to the pages. Descriptive , haunting and angsty, it's loaded with clues and foreshadowing.

This was an interesting book. I've always loved books about the fae and this series is one of the better ones. I was a bit confused who Trillian and Camille were at first since it'd been awhile since I read the series but I quickly remembered them.
I was intrigued about her and her sister's lives in the Otherworld since in the books I have read they don't really talk too much about it. I feel bad for Camille in the book since her father is a bit disapproving and she has such a hard time at work.
The whole insta love thing again was a bit contrived but since it was mitigated by magic it wasn't as bad.
I really disliked Roche and Lathe. They were utter scumbags. -.-

I've read some of this series before but had never read this book. I really enjoyed it! It was all about Camille and to meet and find out a little about Trillian. There are very small cameos with the other 2 sisters and the Father. But to see how Camille and Trillian met and fell in love was awesome!
So I can't find anywhere to leave my comments of the Goodreads Choice Awards The Best Books of 2019 so I'm going to leave them here!
Where the heck is the Paranormal/Urban Fantasy category??? I'm sooooo disappointed in Goodreads for not including it!! There are a tiny bit of Para books scattered in among the others but WTH??

This book, strangely enough, reads like a really, really bad fan fiction. Reading it I couldn't help feeling like I was entering the mind of a promiscuous twelve year old exploring the idea of sexuality and having a typical Mary sue-ish fantasy that everyone finds her desirable. In fact, the main character won't shut up about sex, further, she speaks about it in the most ridiculous pornographic ways. I can't understand the ratings of this book.

I love Camille and Trillian, their story was always vague though, I'm glad it was cleaned out so completely. Only made me root for them more.

Suite à l’offre de Milady : 2 Milady achetés, la nouvelle Gravure d’Argent gratuite, j’en ai profité (faut dire qu’avec tout ce que j’achète chez eux, on peut avoir de temps en temps des offres comme ça non ?). Je n’étais pas spécialement intéressée par cette nouvelle, vu que j’ai abandonné la série : Les sœurs de la lune au tome 2, seulement c’est une nouvelle de moins de 150 pages, je n’allais pas cracher dessus et qui sait, ça me donnera peut-être envie de me replonger dedans ? Bon, à ce niveau-là, je ne pense pas que ce soit le cas après lecture, je me dis que j’ai bien fait d’arrêter et de me concentrer sur des séries bien meilleures.
L’histoire se passe donc avant le tome 1 des Sœurs de la Lune, et nous fait part notamment de la rencontre entre Camille et Trillian, le fameux Svartan qu’on revoit dans le tome 1 et qui semble poser quelques soucis (voire plus) à Camille. Camille est un agent à l’Outremonde, elle a un boulot assez ingrat bien souvent, on lui refile des missions qu’elle ne peut pas réussir seule, tout ça pour la faire sombrer et trouver un moyen de la faire virer (en gros). Elle doit retrouver cette fois-ci un violeur et meurtrier du nom de Roche, mais il semble insaisissable et elle commence à désespérer. Alors qu’elle se trouve dans un bar qui appartient à un ami à son père, elle se fait draguer, un peu lourdement par des hommes (faut dire qu’elle est habillée de manière très sexy, etc. pour se faire remarquer auprès de Roche) et c’est là que Trillian entre en scène et qu’une grande histoire va naître…
L’intrigue est plutôt sympa. Je trouve que ça se lit bien, c’est fluide, et bon, on retrouve effectivement bien le caractère de Camille (des souvenirs que j’en ai, ça fait très longtemps que je ne lis plus cette série et donc que je n’ai pas lu sa narration). C’est intéressant de voir la rencontre entre elle et le Svartan, bon après, l’évolution de leur relation… bah c’est du rapide quoi et ça j’adhère très rarement. Ça reste sympa à lire, mais c'est vrai que Camille et le sexe c'est une grande histoire d'amour (non, je ne ferai pas de blague douteuse, je me contenterai de dire ça). Mais bon, la nouvelle ne fait même pas 150 pages comme je l’ai dit et pourtant on comprend bien qu'elle est en manque, qu’elle en a envie, etc. je ne me souvenais plus qu’elle était autant accro au sexe et là, je trouve que ça fait lourd pour un si petit livre. Elle en parle souvent, ou y fait allusion et du coup l’enquête passe un peu au second plan (c’était ce que je reprochais à la série après coup, d’où le fait que j’ai arrêté et apparemment, ça ne s’arrange pas, surtout quand il s’agit de Camille). Après on retrouve un peu la vie de famille, on voit son père, ses sœurs (avant la transformation en vampire de Menolly) et c’est sympa, tranquille à ce niveau là.
Difficile d’en parler pendant des heures surtout que c’est très court, donc très rapide à lire. En plus, je ne suis pas une grande fan de cette série du coup ça ne m’a pas forcément passionné, néanmoins c’était intéressant à lire par rapport à la rencontre, pour voir un peu le passé entre Camille et Trillian, vu que dans le tome 1 ils se connaissent depuis un moment et qu’on a pas mal de non dit, ne sachant pas tout ce qui s’était passé entre eux et pourtant c’est aussi « magique » aussi entre elle et lui.
Pour ceux qui aiment cette série, je pense que ça intéressera pas mal ; pour les autres… bah ça se lit, mais sans plus. Néanmoins vous aurez un beau livre (il faut avouer que la couverture est magnifique non ? Anne-Claire Payet a encore fait du beau boulot :) )

Cette nouvelle bien que relatant des évènements se passant avant le tome 1 de la série les soeurs de la lune, se situe d'après l'auteure (cf son site internet) entre le tome 6 et le tome 7.
En effet, on va découvrir non seulement la rencontre entre Camille et Trillian mais aussi le fameux lien qui les unis dont il est question dans la série mais on découvre aussi Darynal, personnage qu'on retrouve dans le tome 6. Camille va également contracter une dette que jus'au'au tome 6, elle n'a toujours pas payer.
Ainsi, même s'il s'agit en apparence d'une préquelle, celle-ci a été écrite dans l'optique de faire transition entre le tome 6 et le tome 7. En outre, cette nouvelle se concentre surtout sur Camille et Trillian, on ne fait qu'à peine entre apercevoir les autres personnages. De même, les soeurs d'Artigo ne travaille pas encore pour l'OIA et ne sont pas encore en outre-monde car l'ombre ailé n'existe pas encore et la guerre commence tout juste à se faire sentir. Aussi, je pense que cette nouvelle n'est pas forcément très représentative de la série et s'adresse donc plus à des lecteurs de la série qu'à de nouveaux lecteurs la découvrant pour la première fois.
Cependant il s'agit d'une bonne mise en bouche quand même puisque l'auteure à réussi à mettre un peu de tous les éléments qu'on trouve dans ces romans : action, romance, humour... Seules les relations entre les personnages et surtout entre les soeurs ne sont pas exploitées ici (ce qui contenu du format est normal).
L'intrigue, quant à elle, commence un peu trop lentement pour une nouvelle mais est efficace bien que simple. c'est un bonus sympathique pour les amateurs de cette série.

Short But Sweet!
This is a prequel to the Otherworld series. If you are not a reader of this series, you can still enjoy this novella, being that it is a prequel. However, I do highly recommend reading the Otherworld series in order (Witchling, Changeling, Darkling, Dragon Wytch, Night Huntress, Demon Mistress, Bone Magic, Harvest Hunting, Blood Wyne and Courting Darkness).
This was a delightful read. It was nice seeing how Camille and Trillion first met and bonded. It was also interesting to see seed of the situations that would eventually lead up to the fates we currently know them to be reaping now; especially Menolly's fate.
I highly recommend this series to fellow dark urban fantasy fans, however ,there are a two choice installments [Demon Mistress and Bone Magic] which will require some patience. The series does pick up again after those two installments. I also look forward to reading the next book in the series Shaded Vision due out 2/7/12.

I've been in an UF prequel-kinda mood lately, so I decided to read this novella next. It's set in the Otherworld series world. It's about the D’Artigo sisters, before they came to Earthside.
Camille is a witch, and like her sisters, she works for the Y’Elestrial Intelligence Agency. Her latest case has her on the hunt for a sadistic killer. But it looks like her boss might be working against her because he's got his own agenda. That's when a seductive Svartan enters her life, and might end up being the one who helps her close the case...
This is the story of how Camille and Trillian met. About how instant their attraction was, and what their passionate connection led to.
I enjoyed this glimpse into the lives of the D’Artigo sisters before the first book. I also liked the hints of things to come that were sprinkled throughout the story.
I've fallen behind on this series--I'm up to Book 7--but look forward to getting back into it.

Etched in Silver is a short story in the Otherworld series telling how Camille D'Artigo first met Trillian while she was on a case while she and her sisters were still living with their Fae father in Otherworld. You could sense what the 3 sisters GS to endure with being 1/2 human from their mother. It was nice to see what her younger sister Menolly was like before vampires tortured and turned her. A nice prequel to the series, with 2 bonuses: one with each sister sharing yuletide memories of their childhood, and a bonus preview of Shaded Vision, which is the next book I need to.read. :-)

Divertissant.
Même si je me rends compte que cette saga a de grosses lacunes (son faible niveau d'écriture, entre autres...), j'y reste attachée car elle est l'une des premières du genre que j'ai lu.
C'est donc avec plaisir que j'ai retrouvé Camille d'Artigo, ici, pour une petite enquête se déroulant en amont de l'arrivée des Soeurs sur Terre (donc bien avant le tome 1 de la saga.)
Un bon petit moment !

A novella set in the Otherworld universe and is the story of how Trillian and Camille met and ended up soul-mated. A nice little story that showcased what life had been like for them a bit more clearly back in OW before things opened up and they came earthside. Not necessary to read to understand anything in the series but a fun little filler as I wait for the next book to come out. Includes a sneak peak of the new book as well.

This is a prequel to the Otherworld series and to be honest I didn't finish it. I apologize to those to love the series, but the dark 'Blade Runner' type world is not my thing and it reads like just another bounty hunter runs into a handsome guy to help her find the bad guy short story.
Starts with a lot of complicated place/person names and the sex really adds nothing to the story except to say it's there.

I really enjoyed this short introduction to these characters in this series, which I have not yet read but have been wanting to for ages now. On the trail of an incredibly vicious serial killer, half breed Camille meets the most gorgeous, yet dangerous fae who she feels completed bespelled by. For no real reason, he helps her with her mission and suddenly their attraction for each other develops into something much much more...
Looking forward to read more about Camille and Trillian now!

This isn't a full-length novel...it's a novella...that said:
It felt a bit rushed! I wish there was more back-story! I am thinking that there will be a lot more in the first, full-length book (Witchling) which I will be starting soon :c)

I was disappointed to find out that this book was an out take from a previously told story by this author. It is a good story but since I already read it, I am upset that I purchased it again. If I wanted to read this story twice I could of just re-read my original purchase.

I love this novella so much! I especially like that we get to see Camille have little glimpses of the future that she doesn't understand. Though the one about Menolly made me so sad! Camille's and Trillian's relationship was just so delicious I am always want more of them so this book was awesome.
