If you’re a fan of Francine Rivers, Karen Kingsbury, or Deborah Raney, you’ll love the characters in The Habakkuk Series!
My favorite thing about this book is the perfect description of a prayer warrior. Also, it’s hard preparing for a difficult conversation. Only by the grace of God can we come with a heart to forgive instead of a sword with which to fight back. Very well done!
I must say what a well-written book and it was a page-turner. The book had so many related parts that you could relate to. It made you feel like you were there in the story. I love the part about God giving second chances. He is a God of mercy and grace. An important part of your book that I love is your past does not define you.
Priscilla is Book Three in the Paper Dolls Habakkuk series by gifted wordsmith Kara R. Hunt. This is a Christian contemporary women’s fiction that is filled with spiritual and everyday life lessons. It may be read as a stand alone, but reading the other two books will supply much background information.
This is the story of Priscilla King after she marries Barry. She has confessed all of her sordid past to him and that she has found her faith again. Barry is so happy for her, but his adult children are skeptical.
This is a touching book that gave me all of the feels. I loved reconnecting with some of the past characters, my old friends. It was touching to read about the changes and growth in the characters. I love the bonds of friendship shared by this group of women.
Author Hunt has a poetic style of writing that speaks to my heart. I can picture the scenes as I read her vividly descriptive words. The Christian messages are so welcome and needed in today’s world.
All fans of contemporary women’s Christian books should get this series. It is a wonderful diversion from day to day activities. I give it a 5 out of 5 star rating. A copy was provided, but these are my honest words.
Priscilla is a women’s Christian fiction novel featuring the titular character and her friends and family. The only problem is one of them is trying to kill her!
Priscilla is part of a series, but it works well as a standalone.
Priscilla is a fun character. She’s middle-aged, athletic, and kind. She also has a shocking past! Her mother is a riot, and her friends are so nice. I’d like to hang out with them in real life.
I love how trust in God and forgiveness plays out in this story.
I thought Hunt relied a little too much on dialogue to tell the story (in places). I would have liked to see events unfold on the page. I did take off one star. Other than that, it was an enjoyable read.
Priscilla is a really great addition to the Paper Dolls series. I loved watching Priscilla's faith and character grow throughout the story as she faced some pretty serious, sometimes life-threatening, situations. The author weaves in Christian lessons, enviable friendships, and wraps up the ending with all the feels. I recommend this book, and this series, to readers of women's fiction and Christian fiction. It's an enjoyable blend of light suspense and second chances, and of faith and forgiveness.
I read this book as part of a book club and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was more than a romance, which isn’t usually what I grab to reach when I read. It’s also a mystery, and deals with Christianity lived out in the real world. It is part of a series, and the other books do not have to be read first, but it might have given me a better feel for some of the characters who didn’t seem as developed as well as the primary ones.
This book keeps you engaged from the first page. A rich widower marries a woman who is a former escort. The children hate her because their father has a will that does not give them the family home and land…yet the live in mansion’s rent free provided by their father. Wow so much to tell…. Well it be better if you brought the book and read it for yourself!! Great read!
Easy read. Clean writing. Fresh plot (at least for me) of the challenges of being a step-mom to rich adult children. I particularly enjoyed the wife's character and how she worked to honor her husband and support him in big and little things.
After some hard run ins with people who don't like her Priscilla finds herself trying to see who tried to kill her while working to see second chances in her life and others. What a wonderful read!
This has am ambitious plot line but the threads are woven together quite well. Many good principles and common sense and counsel are provided in the book.
Just finished reading! Oh my! What a beautiful story of love, grace, joy, forgiveness, and redemption! As a horse lover, I love the added horse and stables within the story line! The visual of a huge property with mountain views, a bubbling creek, wide open Acres, beautiful buildings, and that it was built up a little at a time is just dreamy! Love the story of the step children realizing their awful behaviors and craving forgiveness. A family reunited. Beautiful, just beautiful!
We met Priscilla in Hunt's first book of the series, and she was a difficult character to connect with for several reasons - read book one and you'll understand. But her personal growth throughout that book set up beautifully for what happens in Priscilla. Challenged by her husband's grown children, Priscilla must take a deep look at her life, her past, and what the future holds for her. But then things get shady, it's her friends and her tender faith that support her final decision.
