The Caravan of Dhamma: Diary of S. N. Goenka's "Meditation Now" Tour Europe and North America April 10 to August 15, 2002

Rate this book
From April to August, 2002, a caravan of motor homes and support vehicles covered more than 13,000 miles through Europe and North America with S.N. Goenka, giving discourses, public talks and one day courses. The tour was given the title "Meditation Now" and was the largest and most elaborate tour undertaken by Goenkaji in the Western world. This book is much more than a travelogue, it includes little bits of wisdom that are brought to light as the underlying story of the group's travels and events unfold. It combines historical and practical aspects of the Dhamma that weave their way through the day-by-day account of the trip. Most significantly, the book offers the reader a glimpse of how Goenkaji brings the teachings of the Buddha to the people of two continents, and how he personally incorporates these teachings into his own daily life as the trip proceeds.

Amazing book showing the experience of traveling with Vipassana teacher SN Goenka, his discourses, answers to questions, way of reaction towards certain difficulties and situations during the travel, etc.

Of course it's much nicer to read the book if you have done a 10 day vipassana course and understand what the technique of Vipassana is. Otherwise you will not understand fully the meaning of his explanations.

i had been restricted from books in a time period whilst travelling, this book came to me on a meditation retreat. It was the learnings and lessons that Goenka has spoken throughout a time period. Relevant then, relevant now.
recommend to one who is amongst this path of dhamma and vipassana
