Reverend Doctor George Campbell Morgan D.D. was a British evangelist, preacher and a leading Bible scholar. A contemporary of Rodney "Gipsy" Smith, Morgan preached his first sermon at age 13. He was the pastor of Westminster Chapel in London from 1904 to 1919, and from 1933 to 1943, pausing briefly between to work at Biola in Los Angeles, which he eventually handed over to Martyn Lloyd Jones.

Morgan was a prolific author, writing over 60 works in his lifetime, not counting the publishing of some of his sermons as booklets and pamphlets. In addition to composing extensive biblical commentaries, and writing on myriad topics related to the Christian life and ministry, his essay entitled "The Purposes of the Incarnation" is included in a famous and historic collection called The Fundamentals—a set of 90 essays edited by the famous R. A. Torrey, who himself was successor to D. L. Moody both as an evangelist and pastor—which is widely considered to be the foundation of the modern Christian Fundamentalist movement.

This is a series of profiles of people with whom Jesus interacted. As Morgan puts it, the purpose is to watch the Man at His work.

What's so illuminating about these portraits is that Morgan doesn't just study a single snapshot of a person. He collects every instance where they appear in scripture and pieces together the complete picture as far as we have it. The effect is transformative. He draws a wholly new understanding in what could be considered familiar encounters.

A personal look at Jesus’s approach to various individuals in the Bible in each chapter reminds you that His approach to you is also so personal. He will meet every person, He will meet every need, He will challenge every idea, and He will bring close every yearning soul.

This book is a well-researched, in depth look at the individuals in the New Testament who came in contact with Jesus, The Great Physician, and the unique ways He interacted with each person according to His divine knowledge of them and their responses to Him.
It gives great hope to all who read it, when they realize that He literally knows all about us, puts His loving touch on the exact point of our anguish and pain, then is willing to heal and restore us as we agree with His diagnosis and the fact that He alone is the cure for what ultimately ails us!

I read this book many, many years ago. It was so memorable I am considering rereading it...which I very rarely do.
