As a graduate of a Jesuit university, I was curious to learn how the order established itself in North America and expanded to the group we know today. True to its name, this was a concise history that starts in the 1600s and goes up to the modern day. I was especially interested to learn about the formation of famous colleges such as Georgetown, Loyola, and others.
I would have liked more discussion about the implications of the election of Pope Francis, the first Jesuit to ever hold the papacy. His election was in 2013, and even if it is too recent to fully evaluate his legacy, I would have liked a chapter on the changing attitudes towards Catholic orders in the past few decades, and the significance of having a Latin American pope elected.
Interesting reference text, and it achieves the desired goal of providing an overview that may motivate others to delve deeper into more specific topics.

Very interesting survey of Jesuit history in the United States. Very informative, and very concise.
