I read this all the way back in 8th or 9th grade. It was one of my first exposures to the mini-genre of LDS Fantasy/Science Fiction. I thought the premise of the novel was interesting, but I didn't like the way science fiction elements (things I enjoy but think/know are impossible) were blended together with religious elements (things I can't easily prove but believe to be true). For example, if
My opinion could change if I reread the novel, but there are so many other things to read I doubt I'll be giving this one a retread.
they are in a hanger and then bart and his friends escape the ropes and try to get out of the hanger before it explodes one of them here sirens and start to yell for help.
cause: they yell for help and say there is a bomb effect: the fire fighters make a hole for them to escape so they escape the hanger
cause: the bomb explodes effect: it shoots bart and he leaves his body and sees a bright light and thinks he is dead then the spirit (the bright light) asks him a question
I liked the book because how it puts in a movie in my head and just picturing what it is like to be bart in all that action with the adrenaline pumping.

The characters were likeable and the story had a good plot, but the writing is sloppy. Too often the writer took the easy way out with generalities instead of really showing the scene. Also, the plot wasn't very tight. The story could have started three chapters later than it did, and could have been tightened throughout the book.
This series is another one of my favorite series. It has a good plot and a very good story. Some light humor, some good advice/sayings, and some good suspense. Definitely worth checking out.
Very fun and interesting. I don't know if I'm sold on the concept/theory that this stuff actually happens to people, hut it's a goid uplifting book... for boys and teens... snd adults, of course.
