When Matthew moves to Vancouver with his mother, he's not able to bring along his dog Lucky, because the apartment building he is moving into does not allow dogs. But when Matthew's imaginary dog scares off a burglar, all the tenants argue that Lucky should be allowed to come live there.
Irene N. Watts is a German-born Canadian writer and educator. She was born in Berlin in 1931 and lived there for seven years. She moved to the United Kingdom by way of Kindertransport and was educated in England and Wales. Watts earned degrees in English literature and modern history at Cardiff University.
Heartbroken boy has to leave his beloved dog behind when he and his mother move to a building that does not allow pets, so he invents an imaginary dog who helps get his real dog back. Good story with a happy ending.
