Incredible interesting, informative and readable guide to understanding the weather with a focus on New Zealand weather events and idiosyncrasies, which our spectacular Southern Alps and exposure to the cold Southern Ocean play a significant part in. The thermodynamic concepts might seem daunting but are well explained with illustrations and historical weather charts. Recommended for anyone who wants to understand how the weather works especially if you live in New Zealand. A vital resource for outdoor recreation enthusiasts and trampers as this knowledge could save your life one day. Remember, in the southern hemisphere: Because 'L' looks like the hands on a clock, wind moves clockwise around a low pressure system.

Read to improve my weather observations for my upcoming avalanche risk management course. Still failing my daily forecasting for Wanaka, southern alps really fuck up my predictions.

Some of the information in this book is a bit dated too hence the 4 star.
