The virgin snow of an unwritten future lies waiting for the footprints of it’s passengers. No-one can know where those footprints will lead - no-one, at least, except the mysterious girl who sees things that other people can’t.
On Christmas Day 2003, American actress Linda Borowski arrives in the UK for the first time, seeking a new start after her recent separation. She soon finds a new home and sets about employing staff to look after her and it, and at the same time, she starts to rebuild her acting career - albeit not quite in the way she’d hoped.
Slowly but surely her life seems to be returning to some semblance of normality; perhaps there is even a hint of romance in the air - in more ways than one. But who exactly is the enigmatic stranger, and is he more than he appears to be?
Readers please ‘Choices’ is a romantic comedy drama serial in twelve parts, and is intended to be read in sequential order. The individual parts are not stand-alone stories in their own right. After the initial launch of Part 1, subsequent parts will become available on Amazon in one-weekly intervals.
Firstly, I think it’s important to say that this is a first instalment of a much longer work - so this book by itself is quite short.
However, I very much enjoyed this first instalment and was captivated from the first few pages. The author’s sense of humour comes through in many places and made me giggle out loud on several occasions. The writing is very well crafted - clever enough to be interesting, but not intellectually snobby.
It’s effectively a romantic drama with more emphasis on the drama than the romance.
I really like the characters that have been developed by the author and can imagine this making this a wonderful British film.
I have since read the second, third and fourth parts of this 12 part series and have not been disappointed by those either. I am still gripped and have now decided to wait until I embark upon part five so that I don’t have to wait to read the rest (as they’re being released once a week).
I’ve removed one star for the price, as overall it feels expensive for the whole series given how short some of the parts are. However I’m still buying each one and if you don’t like the first part you’ve not wasted much, so I recommend giving it a go!
