Kristin began her recovery from divorce to professional cyclist Lance Armstrong with a ring of 3 x 5 note cards. Each one held a hand-selected passage of scripture that helped her cope and survive that stage of her life. Now, in this powerful daily devotional, Kristin offers the same inspiring verses that helped transform her heart and complements them with her own compassionate, personal messages of faith and love.
HAPPILY EVER AFTER is a year long daily devotional designed to help women through one of life's most difficult times. Each entry contains a Bible verse and personal reflection from Kristin, helping readers maintain an open heart through their pain, confide in God at every stage of grief and despair, and forgiving those who have hurt them because they have been forgiven by God's grace. As readers continue on their road to recovery, Kristin's spiritually rejuvenating devotional will bring new hope to each passing day of divorce recovery.
Kristin Armstrong is a mother, a writer, and a runner. She has written six books, including her latest, Mile Markers: The 26.2 Most Important Reasons Why Women Run.
A MUST Read for anyone who is going through or currently recovering from a separation and/or divorce. Kristin Armstrong was married to Lance Armstrong and has a beautiful testimony of grace, forgiveness, resilience and hope. Her devotionals reach into the devastation that you are experiencing and surround you with wisdom, grace and hope. Every day felt like she was talking directly to me, physically present and walking through my experiences. Every day's devotional was essential nutrition for my soul. I would take in the devotion and allow it to feed me all day. The book is a journey and at the end of it, you cannot help but feel a little more healed, a little more stitched together. You cannot help but to have hope, to be encouraged and to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Lord loves you and that He is by your side every minute of every day. This is anointed text - the words are Spirit ordained. Every syllable is biblically-based and sound. It addresses the shame you feel over your failed marriage, the sense of failure. It deals with the anger, rage and feelings of betrayal. It encourages your hope for healing and for a future of happiness, wholeness and love. This book is First Aid for those broken by divorce and I could not recommend it more.
A late review but this book was excellent and a huge source of encouragement after my own bike riding husband cheated and left me. God is with us. Thank you for writing this amazing devotional, it was the best one on divorce I’d read.
I am not divorced, but have been separated for seven years, ever hoping for reconciliation. So I can relate to much of what Kristin presents in this book. She does a wonderful job of offering rungs on a ladder, so to speak, to those who feel disoriented by the experience, and who wonder, every day, where life's truths still lie.
I saw her review the book twice on Oprah (2005, 2006?), and learned much from that appearance, both times. At first I thought, 'probably a good book, but I'm not divorced, and I have a lot of devotionals on my shelves...'. After her second appearance, and when I was at a new low, I decided to buy it. I wish I had bought it sooner. Full of hope, reality, love, forgiveness, and, as I said, good, solid 'rungs on the ladder'. I think that anyone in our same boat will know what I mean by these things.
Thank you, Kristin, for having the courage and compassion to share your journey with us, and to help us in such measurable ways with our own.
This book came into my life at the PERFECT moment! I believe Kristin is truly a spiritual genius. Her insight for each day was so profound. She didn't baby herself, and she doesn't baby her readers either. She is open, direct, and relevant. She has the authority to talk about walking through divorce spiritually and never gives an inch to bitterness, self-pity, or regret. Yet I took great comfort each day in reading what she had to say. She constantly directed me straight to the Lord and often gave me such deep new concepts to think about. I also recommend following her blog on runner's world. She is a very gifted writer and I believe she has the hand of the Lord on her.
"He can take the evil and repurpose it for good. He has not forgotten you."
If I could recommend one book for women going through a divorce, or who have been through one, this would be it! It was such an unbelievable solace, comfort and encouragement to me. Kristin shared from the heart how God had healed her, and there were many similarities to what God showed me as well. Amazing devotional!
This book is one of my favorite devotional books. I have read it cover to cover several times and still enjoy rereading bookmarked passages. Kristin's insight offers hope and comfort during any time of change in your life....her scripture selections apply to any time one phase of your life is ending and you embark on a new phase....maybe moving to a new city, starting a new job, a child leaving home for college, etc. I highly recommend!
By Lance Armstong's ex...a surprise of a book which led me on a spiritual awakening I had not expected...a daily electoion on Bible passages intrepreted in her own words and applied to real life challengesd...a treasure to open on any page, everyday.
I read this devotional during my divorce and again when another relationship fell apart. It is right on point with the emotions and feelings associated with the ending of a relationship. It points you toward Jesus and offers hope and inspiration.
