Reviews the history of learning and memory research. Describes ideas and paradigms that have dominated the field and why they became prominent. Surveys the current state of these two areas, identifying exciting opportunities for synthesis of ideas. Integrates learning research on animals and memory research on humans. Includes a unique chapter on the neural basis of learning.
a rather dry textbook, bit dated too (hence some theories in the learning part seems a bit naive, however I haven't expected 2 decades of research and progress in neuroscience to have so little impact), anyway - look for something a bit more up to date (as long as you aren't trying to understand context of science in which Pinker wrote his first bestsellers)
