Richard A. Knaak is the bestselling author of Dragonlance novels, the Dragonrealm and Black City Saint series (his own creations), six novels for Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo series, and six works in the Warcraft universe. He has also written several non-series fantasy books.
It was such a boring and cringey read, it felt like torture. The plot is as bad as a fanfic plot, it's very disappointing this fanfic is the backbone of the Diablo series. When reading those books you will feel like reading the most basic and boring fanfic. The same cliche themes, the same cardboard personality characters, the same over the top plot armor, the same special main character that is cocky and annoying, the same villain that is the biggest moron in the universe. The book tells us next to nothing about Sanctuary, the universe, angels, demons, the magical system in this world, the traditions in this world. It's just some badly executed spinoff of Greek names and stories. The plot is basically idiots running around to save the world, the cliche band of friends who protect one another no matter what, random sequences of the villains laughing and being mysterious edgelords, Inarius is emo, Lilith is a milf, Rathma is a stalker, the demons are made of fucking clay and die from punches, the magical system in this world is "imagine and it will come true" - NO FUCKING KIDDING. The main characters are soo annoying and so plot armored it will give you cringe seizures. There is no challenge, no danger, no horrific threat and Diablo is a dark fantasy fictional universe that should be set in a world that is scary, threatening, dangerous. But nope, we have whatever the hell this series is.
P.S. Nanny Achilios deserves a salary, he kept everyone safe and he got nothing in return, not even a "thanks bro". Mendeln should consider a career as a necrologist. Uldyssian should get into therapy for anger issues and immaturity. Serenthia should stop being a pick me "the dude doesn't like you girl, get over it!" Inarius needs a popsicle and some therapy. Rathma is beyond hope.
