I chose this book because every time I see Never Quit I think of my grandpa he always told me to when things get hard never quit and to keep trying, And that is what this book is about how Jimmy Settle was an Alaskan shoe store clerk who became a special ops pararescue jumper. I was not able to set this book down I think more kids should read this book because this could give them more determination to get something done and never give up on what they are failing at because times get hard Jimmy never gave up even when a bullet hit his skull he still tried to save people he never quit trying and i think people these days give up and stop trying when they fail this book could help them realize that failing is ok. I suggest this book to everyone it is one of my favorite books.
Never Quit is a story of how Jimmy Settle, an Alaskan shoe store clerk, became a Special Forces Operator and war hero. After being shot in the head during a dangerous high mountain operation in Afghanistan, Jimmy returned to battle with his teammates for a heroic rescue, his team of PJs risk their lives again in an epic firefight. When his helicopter is hit and begins leaking fuel, Jimmy finds himself in the worst possible position as a rescue specialist. Forced to leave members from his own team behind. Jimmy risked everything to get back into the battle. From death Alaskan wilderness training, wild rescues, and battles against the Taliban and Al Qaeda, this story is an amazing read and is super interesting, as the stories are in great detail and is really cool to read about Settle's life.
This book is a good book and I recommend it if you like reading stories about military and someones experience with the military and what they had to go through. This book is also a high action book and a lot happens throughout the entire book. I gave this book 4 stars because of that reason.
This book was good overall. It told the story of how Jimmy Settle became a pararescue jumper and the challenges that he faced along the way. There was some parts where it felt like he was telling the same story over and over, which I didn't enjoy. On the other hand though, the book explained his journey and described the challenges he faced to become a pararescue jumper. My favorite character was Jimmy Settle, this book was an autobiography, so the events and challenges that happened to him were all legit. Jimmy started with his life story leading up to his military life, which I like because he didn't leave out what made him want to become a pararescue jumper. The setting was great, the book described the terrain of every military place he went. These descriptions created imagery in my head, making the story come to life. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to become a pararescue jumper. It will help them know what they will need to train for. Also, it will help them know what challenges could happen along their journey.
A friend recommended Jimmy Settle become a pararescueman after he had left the Naval Academy due to a heart problem and was having trouble making ends meet as a shoe salesman in Alaska. The next few years of Settle's grueling training are described in detail, including his time in Air Force basic training, diving school, medical training, and hard physical training. Discover the challenges he overcame, including seemingly unachievable circumstances, by reading Settle's humble account. He remained resolute in his goal to succeed and receive his maroon beret despite every setback and victory. In the midst of an exhausting struggle, Settle is forced to abandon his fellow pararescuemen, and the last chapters recount his terrifying experiences rescuing the wounded in Afghanistan.
i had to read this for school. it was boring and took awhile to read but that’s probably bc i didn’t choose to read it but it wasn’t as horrible as i thought it would be. i would recommend but only if you like are interested in being a pj. lowkey thought jimmy was gonna die at the end and there was like a huge plot twist like he was writing this book throughout his carrer and someone had to finish it for him but that didn’t happen☹️ also karl at the end was my fav character of the whole book

Amazing. The book was very inspirational and informative. I liked how the author explained how hard it was and what it takes to be a Para-rescue Jumper. The one thing I didn't like is how he didn't explain about his adult personal life and how he got married and had children. I highly recommend this book to young adult readers who need some feel good inspiration.
