The book
The best book on research that I have read lately. Very simple, straight forward, and gives a holistic view on research. I recommend this for first time researchers and anyone looking for a refresher.
With the exception of the chapter on Phenomenology, this book is organized exactly the same way I think about research methodology. (Also, the price is a third of what most methods textbooks are---hopefully my students appriciate that.)
I read it for phenomenology, and contrary to the other reviewer, I liked what it said -- but I can't use it because it does not give in-text (in-line) citations! This despite the fact that the writer is a professor.
For first starter in doing research, this handybook is practical and give thorough understanding on how to conduct research especially for small scale social research projects.
Really useful book looking at different types of research methods. Really helped me to understand the type of research I wanted to do and how to write about the research I am doing.
Good summary of the tools of the trade. A must-have book for those who regularly conduct research and contains some handy information for practical theologians too.
