The inspiring story of one woman's struggle to maintain her dignity and strength while confined to a mental institution in the Depression-era South. Eventually, she educated herself, married, raised a family, and managed her own business.
I read this book for my reading group. While I feel sorry for what this poor woman went through, the writing style is dull and stilted; I found this book a chore to finish. To me, it was extremely boring and too-reilant upon overcooked religious sentiments. I did not care for this title at all.
