This was a good story, a little slow for my tastes but very interesting. The locale was as important to the story as the characters - which is a good thing! I learned a lot about the region and found it very interesting. I thought both of the main characters were very real and I loved the supporting characters! They were by turns, funny, loving and just terrific.

The heroine has kind of a hang up after losing her family's farm, despite doing her best to save it, and she doesn't trust bankers, at all. Of course, the hero is a banker and, although he does everything to prove to her that he's not what she expects, she still takes a while to trust him. There's a side plot about a silver mine that, to me, was very interesting and helps the book to move toward a happy ending for all.

All in all, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it as a pleasant, satisfying read. Though there's not much excitement, it is a sweet story about learning to trust, not only others but yourself, as well.

I loved the descriptions of the people and surroundings. It was the only thing that saved it from 1 star! First of all, the main character has nothing in common with Cinderella other than she gets dirty. She doesn't have an evil stepmom, evil stepsisters, etc. Second, what really drives the main character is helping people. She has to give all of that up. The man She thinks is perfect also thinks that a garden back home in the US is all she needs to be happy. That's completely the opposite of everything she's said so far. Third, I don't feel like the characters ever grow or change other than respect to their feelings about each other.

I found this book to be a little bit slow to start off and took me a little while to get into the story. The characters descriptions were very good, you got a sense of who they were and what they were like, the supporting characters were funny and easy to like. Carol Grace did a very good job at setting the sense you could really imagine that places they were in. It is a sweet story but slightly lacking in much excitement. But it is a good book for people who don't like ones with too much excitment in, its easy to follow and not complicated.

This is a sweet story about a girl whose family looses their farm and she goes to volunteer and work in South America in a farming community there. There is a bank that she is trying to get a loan from for a truck, for the ladies who need to hull their produce to town every week. The banker is a nice guy stuck in a hard place when she comes to him asking for the loan.
I am a fan of cinderella stories and really enjoyed reading this one. Hope you like it too. I own a different cover than the one here on Goodreads, which I like a little better.
Enjoy!

I've given 2 stars but for me it was a DNF. It wasn't a bad book but there was no chemistry between the lead characters and I have no idea where this book is meant to be set. It's up a mountain with Indian women who wear bowler hats? And I assumed the peace corp must be the US version of VSO but I'm not sure and that was the problem. We were overloaded with minutie of details but not given the basic facts. It was more like a tourist brochure than a story.

Eh... The writing wasn't bad but I got bored only 47 pages in. There just wasn't enough to hold my attention when I wasn't really interested in the plot to begin with.

This was a fun story about letting go and trusting. Cute romance and fun cultural experience.
