Expecting to See Jesus --the expanded edition of I Saw the Lord--is the result of Anne Graham Lotz's life lived in the hope of Jesus' return. As you journey with her through the pages of the Bible, you'll come to realize why she lives her life expecting to see Jesus at any minute. And, she wants to make sure you and all other Christians are ready for that moment when your faith becomes sight. Anne knows from personal experience that it's in the busyness of our days, as we're drifting in comfortable complacency, that we most need a wake-up call--a jolt that pushes us to seek out a revival of our passion for Jesus that began as a blazing fire but somehow has died down to an ineffective glow. In Expecting to See Jesus , Anne points out the biblical signs she sees in the world all around us and shows how you can experience an authentic, deeper, richer relationship with God in a life-changing, fire-blazing revival.
Anne Graham Lotz (born May 1948) is an American Christian evangelist. She is the second daughter of evangelist Billy Graham and his wife Ruth Graham. Anne Graham Lotz accepts speaking invitations worldwide, is founder of AnGeL Ministries, and an award-winning author.
I truly appreciate Lotz's heart for Jesus, and for leading others toward Him. Though I haven't read as many of her materials as I would like, I'm always awed and inspired by how she's truly living a life for Him - expecting to see Him in her lifetime. Will Jesus really return in her lifetime? That remains to be seen, but how wonderful that would be! And she does present a very compelling case as to why it could happen.
As for this book, it's a very timely message for today's world, and I enjoyed it. There were quite a few instances of unique formatting inside (not erroneous just experimental) that for some reason made it harder for me to focus on what she was actually saying, and I did feel that there were a few times I wished a point would have been expanded on or really driven home.
But overall, I'm very grateful for all the reminders, challenges, and piercing insights she offered in this book. I especially like her thorough checklist to help readers identify the hidden, driving sins in their lives, and the help inside for developing regular and powerful prayer lives/Bible studies. She talks about her deep, passionate love for Jesus, and both her own love and her desire to help others grow in that love for Him really show. I pray to develop such faith and love for Him.
I recommend this book for anyone seeking a reminder of why we're on this earth and what - and, more importantly, Who - awaits us afterward!
Anne Graham Lotz wrote this book before the pandemic and all of the crazy going on in the world. Little did she know that things were about to get so much worse than she could have ever imagined when writing this. This book is a word for NOW. It's eye opening and a call to repentance for the Church today. She brings so much insight, and it is all backed by scripture. It's time for the sleeping Church to wake-up, arise, and be the hands and feet of Jesus. We have a job to do!
Anne Graham Lotz lives her life with the expectancy that Jesus will return at any moment. She is calling the Church to do the same.
She says, "the difference between a good person and a great person is 18 inches....the distance from the head to the heart. You can love something in your head, but until your heart becomes involved, the love is superficial."
Expecting to see Jesus: A Wake-up Call for God’s People, by Anne Graham Lotz, Foreword by Joel Rosenberg, Zondervan Publishers, 2011, 272 Pages, ISBN-13: 978-0310333852, $14.99
“I will live to see the physical return of Jesus to earth…,” writes Billy Graham’s daughter, Anne Graham Lotz in Expecting to See Jesus: A wake-up Call for God’s People, an expanded edition of I Saw the Lord that released in 2006.
If I live out my “natural lifetime” Lotz continues, “…my generation is the one that immediately precedes the return of Jesus Christ to earth…” Lotz’s birthdate—1948.
Her “deep inner conviction” is a blend of recent global events with the words Jesus spoke to the ancient apostles. Lotz’s description of Christ’s prophesies include “…wars, unprecedented weather events, starvation and other signs that depicts the end of the world as we know it.”
In addition, she believes “…the attack on September 11th was meant as a wake-up call to all Christians,” and the church. “But we missed the message,” she said in a Christian Post interview: http://tinyurl.com/3s3nxxe Instead...Full Review: http://tinyurl.com/3tu52ke
This was an EXCELLENT book, work book and DVD. Our weekly Bible study group used this and found it a real "wake up" call. As Christians we all should be "expecting to see Jesus" whether it is at the end of our lives or when Jesus returns. The question is . . . are we going to be ready? In Matthew 24 Jesus tells us the signs that we need to heed. Each week we had great discussions about lessons found in the book, workbook and the DVD discussions between Anne, Henry Blackaby and Crawford Loritts. We would recommend this to anyone who wants to experience a deeper, richer relationship with God.
It seemed like a long lead-in to the good stuff and I felt like I wasn't quite capable of meeting her standards of revival. Her example of Carole quitting her high-paying job because it was a source of pride for her made me squirm because I questioned how many Christians are able to do that. I did appreciate the meatiness of her sin checklist as a way of searching oneself for hidden sin. I also enjoyed her example of how she formats her prayers as well as her "scripture study worksheet" instructions. I believe these three things will help me in my walk with God.
Is it time for Christ's church to wake up and find that "first love" devotion we felt when first saved? Anne Graham Lotz (Billy Graham's daughter) is praying that Christians will experience personal revival by traveling just eighteen inches. If Christians earnestly desires that their head knowledge of Jesus drops 18 inches to their hearts, real revival will take hold! When that happens, our saltiness returns and our light sparks into full brightness again. I loved this book. I love Jesus and want to serve him...-during such a time as this.
The message of this book was very timely. I liked how she gave some practical steps for bringing personal revival. The questions to ask yourself about sin, the suggestions for prayer and then template for deeper study were very helpful.
I did have to get over the formatting of the text- I found it to be very distracting.
Okay. Had trouble keeping a focus, but one good point that was made was the difference between a good person and a great person is 18 inches....the distance from the head to the heart. You can love something in your head, but until your heart becomes involved, the love is superficial.
Any book by Anne Graham Lotz is amazing. She has a way of bringing out details of Christian walk I had never thought of. She is an inspiration for others in her walk with Jesus.
