DAVID LIVERMORE, PH.D., is president and partner at the Cultural Intelligence Center and a visiting research fellow at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He has done consulting and training with leaders in 100 countries and is the author of Leading with Cultural Intelligence (978-0-8144-1487-3).
3.5 - This book is helpful because it's straight forward and clearly organized, so you could look back on it at a later point and find exactly what you were looking for. But I didn't feel like much of it was new information to me.
Decent. Does not have a lot of room for the poor or those with little social capital. Also, ironically it is a bit Western in its focus in that it is so influenced by business culture/capitalism.
This guy mastered one topic and then just wrote 5 bazillion books on it, each with its own flavor. I’m sure if this was the first book of his that I had read, I would rate it higher
Livermore’s Cultural Intelligence Difference provides a strong argument on the importance of cultural training. If you have ever wondered about your personal ability to interact with diverse populations, this book can provide you with a tool to improve your competencies. This book provides its readers with a short assessment to measure their personal CQ score. In addition, this report also includes a development section that guides users to develop their CQ skillsets. Cultural intelligence is an important asset in today’s diverse workplace and this book provides readers with the knowledge of how to shine in multicultural interactions.
On a final note, I encourage readers purchase a new volume. Each book provides a unique online code to assess the Cultural Intelligence Feedback Report. Used editions of the text may have codes that were previously used and expired.
Livermore is highly knowledgable in the field of CQ, has a very personable way of reaching the reader, and relates his knowledge and experiences in such a way which helps everyone understand the importance of CQ and how to incorporate CQ in our personal and professional lives. This is a highly beneficial read for everyone as we all interact in today's Global Economy.
