We finally discovered the truth about Jodie sensei, and officially met Akai, he's my favorite now after sinshi, this volume was definitely a change of pace. Since many things happened i'll doubt we'll see anything anytime soon.

El gran clímax de la trama de Vermouth y Jodie. Let's talk about it.
Caso Ran Hace Cosas y Me Hace Feliz: pero antes de eso, vamos a un caso más al uso. Por una vez, Conan no es el centro de todo, que siempre está bien para cambiar de aires. Aunque no sé hasta qué punto me gusta que Ran vuelva a confiar en Shinichi, comprendo la necesidad de reforzar la dependencia del personaje para el gran clímax del arco. Además, resulta bastante creíble que Ran haya podido deducir un caso en cierto modo menor, pero con la suficiente dificultad como para seguir siendo un desafío lector. El final del caso, ya resuelto y encontrado el móvil criminal con una nota positiva muy agradecida, es un perfecto enlace con el siguiente caso al descubrir Ran el "secreto" de Jodie.
Casorganización (Máscaras Edition): no lo neguemos: este es el primer caso real de combate contra la Organización, y espero que no sea el último. Sentadas ya todas las bases para el caso, Aoyama decide introducir una vez más uno arbitrario para ¿no perder la atención de los lectores? De verdad que no lo entiendo. ¿Alguna vez le han dicho a Aoyama que todos estamos más interesados por los combates entre el puto FBI y una especie de mafia chunga que por casos típicos de novelas de misterio? Sigue haciéndolo bien, pero no deja de lastrar el conjunto. Todo sea dicho: esta vez, por lo menos, el caso secundario se conecta muy correctamente con el principal y lanza un buen red herring para sorprender al lector. Quizá el problema es que las dos tramas se van intercalando de manera algo patillera y, una vez más, el conjunto se resiente; juraría que en la adaptación animada lo hacen todo bastante mejor.
Ahora bien, ¿qué tal están los dos casos? El secundario es excesivamente confuso y, sinceramente, no me ha gustado ni en su resolución ni en sus conveniencias de guion. ¿De verdad no sabía el sospechoso lo de su máscara? ¿Tampoco sospechaba del micrófono aullador? ¿Me estás diciendo que nadie toma el cóctel Silver Bullet? Una de las premisas más interesantes de la serie, esto es, un asesinato en alta mar lleno de disfraces y de ambiente gótico, se queda en una nota al pie de página por su guion más bien regulero y por no capturar su atmósfera. Tan solo me gusta de este que se conecte a la trama principal tanto por la gran revelación de Shinichi como por la temática simbólica de los disfraces.
En el caso principal se encuentra la chicha, por supuesto. Voy a ser franco: tampoco me ha parecido para tanto. No recordaba gran cosa de él, de modo que iba un poco a ciegas para las sorpresas. El problema, quizá, ha sido esa conexión con el caso secundario, tan largo e inconsecuente al fijarse en el resto de la historia. El enfrentamiento, tal y como está resuelto en el manga, también lo veo demasiado precipitado. Casi con ansias para terminar o llevar el final del capítulo a una revelación impactante. Ojalá Aoyama se hubiese tomado un poco más su tiempo.
Lo que no puedo quitarle es la forma en que ha logrado hilar todos los puntos argumentales establecidos hasta ahora. Entre la conexión de Vermouth con el caso de Nueva York, la participación de todos los integrantes principales , las metáforas Angel-Silver Bullet con Ran, Shinichi, Akai y Vermouth, las constantes sorpresas de "¡en realidad todo este tiempo había estado llevando una máscara!" (hasta cierto punto excesivas y basadas en una forma de estructurar guiones que no termina de gustarme) y la sensación de que la trama ha avanzado tanto en relación de personajes (Ran inmiscuida en el caso, la llegada del FBI a la historia principal o, sobre todo, la mentalidad de Vermouth) como en la investigación de la Organización hacen de este un tomo muy memorable que engancha como pocos.
En general, no ha sido lo mejor de la serie por culpa del ritmo, tan bien medido en casos como el de las bombas de Takagi, pero no seré el primero en quitarle el mérito a un autor que, durante años, ha estado sembrando una confrontación bastante épica y ha logrado ejecutarla con mucho tino. No me imagino cómo puede ser esto a mayor escala en la futura (esperemos) batalla final entre el FBI/Conan y la Organización.

I loved everything about this volume: the long plot tying up some of the threads from the New York arc; the involvement of side characters like Harley and Vivian; and the incredible art (man, Aoyama just keeps leveling up! it's wonderful, and increases the reread value of each succeeding volume), especially the screentoning in the ghost ship/Jodie arc. But I admit I'm totally biased, because a huge amount of the story was about Anita, and she is my favorite!
So there was no way I could fail to love this one.

Wow...what a game changer. The FBI showing up to help in the main mystery, the organization discovering they failed to kill Jimmy, and Rachel almost getting killed (with a main character actually biting the dust). Most epic volume of "Case Closed" yet. Seriously. Most. Epic. By FAR! The only thing that would have made this book better is an appearance by the Phantom Thief Kid. Oh well, chances are he'll show up again sooner or later (he IS the Moriarty for this series after all).

Đợt này đang nghỉ hè, gần nhà lại có thư viện có khoảng 80 tập đầu Conan nên quyết tâm bền chí cày lại bộ này (để hôm sau còn có hứng đi xem movie). Conan là một thứ gì đó rất vĩ đại với thế hệ đọc manga ở Việt Nam đời đầu luôn (mặc dù bây giờ giới trẻ cũng thích không kém, lol. Chẳng trách được, bộ nhận diện nhân vật quá ư là chất).
Lúc đầu mình không định đưa bộ này lên Goodreads review vì các phiên bản sách khó tìm quá, không đồng nhất các phiên bản tiếng Việt với tiếng Anh. Với cả là một ngày đọc xong 3-4 tập thì cũng: 1, không có nhiều ấn tượng với từng tập; 2, review sẽ tốn thời gian.
Nhưng mà tập 42 này quá chất luôn. Một trong những cú sốc đời đầu, sang chấn tuổi thơ khi đọc truyện là biết Vermouth không phải cô Jodie và thực ra là hóa trang thành bác sĩ Araide. Kì án dưới ánh trăng có twist lồng twist, khi đọc mình đi từ bất ngờ này đến bất ngờ khác luôn. Chưa kể là còn tập trung gần hết các nhân vật quan trọng nhất của bộ truyện vào thời điểm đó (Sau này cũng chỉ có vụ xử lí Kir và chuyến tàu tốc hành Bell Tree là phần nào tái hiện lại được điều này). Mạch kể chuyện rất cuốn và làm bật lên được thế mạnh của bộ truyện Conan.
Mình tin là Conan đã đạt đỉnh trong thời điểm này (và còn kéo được đến khoảng tập 60 mới bắt đầu xuống dốc). Nhưng mà trải nghiệm khi lần đầu đọc tập này, nó sẽ đi vào lịch sử.

This volume continues from the previous (as many of these volumes do). The syndicate is heavily referenced in this story and Anita is learning more about her family and past. Also the girls are on the case to prove the innocence of a school friend who might lose their job because of missing products from the convenience store. Next story the Syndicate grows closer and closer...but Detective Conan has a plan....and a Halloween Party to attend! At the Halloween party there is a murder...and Anita is on the move from her safe apartment...this issue has a lot of tension and drama! This story has so many twists and turns, speaking too much about it would take away from the excellent reveals! WHAT A VOLUME!

Concluding the last case of the last volume, Conan and Agasa reveal who committed the murder and how he did it while Anita finds what she was looking for in her father's old childhood home. The next storyline centers around Rachel and Serena, Rachel has to solve a convenience store mystery in order to help a classmate keep her job, can she do it without relying on Jimmy's help? The largest case in this volume centers around a mystery Halloween-themed party set on a "ghost ship" that invites both Richard and Jimmy, with the invitations sent by Vermouth. With an appearance by the Men in Black and a murder, the teen detective must work overtime to stop the multiple monsters on the loose.

The previous volume and this one deal extensively with the FBI and the Vermouth saga. With the disguises, I admit I was initially confused. However, it is clear that Vermouth has a hidden good side and is tired of her current life. She would undoubtedly fight her boss if she considered Conan a silver bullet. So who will be the silver bullet, Conan or Shuici?

This one is fantastic. We finally get to the bottom of what's going on with Ms. Jodie! I also really liked the Halloween Murder Mystery Party (even though they didn't get through much of the murder mystery).

Der Bd. 42 ist wirklich mega spannend gewesen. Der hat mir richtig gut gefallen. Es war mein Lieblingscharaktere dabei (Heji und der FBI Agent Shuichi Akai) wenn die zwei auftauchen. Dann sind es immer mega spannend Fälle.

PIEL DE GALLINA!!!!! Todo aquí es misterioso y wow. La aparición del FBI, Vermouth, la casi muerte de Haibara, los planes de la Organización, la fiesta de disfraces, Heiji vestido de Kudo, todo es SIN PALABRAS. Conan tenía a la organización ahí en la palma de su mano y se les escaparon.

Vol 42 made progress on main story line, especially for this slow-paced series, this case is relatively good organized. As an old fan of whole series, with the slowly decaying patience, still enjoy a quick entertaining moment reading it.

As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻

#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!

~ Sambungan kes dari jilid 41. Pembunuhan berlaku di rumah ayah Haibara dibesarkan yang kini menjadi pejabat syarikat reka bentuk. Kes diselesaikan oleh Conan dengan lakonan dari Profesor Agasa. Haibara menerima barangan peninggalan kakaknya di dalam rumah itu, iaitu pesanan daripada ibunya kepada anak2 gadisnya. Akhirnya tiada kaitan langsung dengan Organisasi Hitam.

~ Ada kecurian di kedai serbaneka di mana kawan Ran dan Sonoko bekerja dan dia dituduh pencuri. Yang berbezanya kali ni, kes diselesaikan oleh Ran dengan kata2 semangat dari Shinichi melalui telefon. Tahniah Ran! Seusai kes, mereka ke rumah cikgu Judy untuk parti perpisahan cikgu Judy. Oh alamak, Ran jumpa gambar Shinichi dan Conan dalam bilik air cikgu Judy!
~ Ringkasan kes kali ni menjadi agak panjang kerana ada selingan pertarungan antara anggota Organisasi Hitam, FBI dan Shinichi. Kogoro, Sonoko dan Shinichi menerima surat cabaran ke parti di atas kapal bertemakan seragam All Saints' Day (nama asal Halloween. Tora Aman tersalah taip jadi Oll Saint's Day, pelat cina sangat haha). Terjadi satu pembunuhan dalam kalangan mereka yang hadir ke parti itu. Kemunculan Shinichi mengejutkan ramai orang atas kapal tu. Seusai kes tu dibongkar, tiba2 rupa Shinichi berubah menjadi Heiji. Di lain tempat, Haibara yang masih demam dijemput ke hospital oleh Judy. Sebaliknya dia dibawa ke kawasan sekitar pelabuhan (rasanya?) dan cikgu Araide turut berhenti setelah mengekori mereka. Konfrontasi antara Judy dan Araide berlaku yang akhirnya menunjukkan siapa sebenarnya mereka berdua. Rupanya Haibara juga turut dilakonkan oleh Conan. Mengeruhkan lagi keadaan, Haibara sebenar kemudiannya menonjolkan diri di kawasan tu dengan cermin mata penjejak. Ran tiba2 keluar dari bonet belakang kereta Judy dan memeluk Haibara dengan niat melindunginya. Mereka berdua pengsan. (Apa? Eh helo, encik Aoyama! Takkanlah Ran yang kuat dan pandai Karate ni mudah pengsan?!) Akai muncul menyelamatkan Judy dan menembak Araide yang dilakonan oleh Vermouth. Vermouth melarikan diri dan menculik Conan ke dalam hutan lalu ditinggalkan disitu.
~ Ayumi bertembung dengan penjahat yang memakai kot hujan semasa dalam perjalanan pulang dari sekolah. Kes ni bersambung ke jilid 43.
