Until her transformation into the strongest member of the group, Caitlin Fairchild was a student at an Ivy League university. Though she loves her GEN¹³ family, she finds herself at an emotional crossroads that causes her to question whether or not she wants to remain part of the team. But Caitlin's decision to lave GEN¹³ leaves the group fatally vulnerable to an enemy that has sworn to destroy GEN¹³ - one who has intimate knowledge of their strengths and weaknesses and finally has the weapon needed to achieve total vengeance.
An all-new adventure by Sholly Fisch, writer for X-Men Legends and The Ultimate Hulk.
His credits run the gamut from Superman to Star Wars to Scooby-Doo, and from Clive Barker’s Hellraiser to Looney Tunes. His comics for kids have won a Comics Buyer’s Guide Fan Award, and been nominated for an Eisner Award and two Diamond gem awards, while several of his stories for older readers were included in the #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novels Action Comics.
This one is probably the least well known of the three Gen13 prose novels. It's not as slick or well-polished, perhaps, as the other two by Jeff Mariotte and Scott Ciencin and Christopher Golden, but it's a good adventure and an excellent study of the characters. The team has always been notable for being the youngsters, and it's refreshing and amusing to see them in the role as the old establishment. Caitlin is particularly well drawn as a sympathetic and likable character in this one; she's too often seen as the stodgy leader with too much chest and too many brains and not enough common sense. I also liked the relationship of Lynch and Grunge. This is a fun adventure comic story with subtly touching undertones.
