Independent, plus-sized nurse Maddy Lovett considered herself pretty easy-going, until she met the Neanderthal living next door…then the trouble started. Hulking cop Mike Carson was old-fashioned in his regard to the ladies, until he started to have a couple of run-ins with the curvy cutie next door…then the trouble started. And then there was the stray kitten…

While at first I admit I was annoyed at Maddy’s sister-in-law ambushing her at Maddy’s own house about her weight, I realized that while I have been blessed to never have that happen, I could see how a family who is so focused on “success” (that is, marriage, money, and status) could honestly think that they were being helpful with their hounding of Maddy to lose weight, especially if they were at all truly concerned about her health.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. As a curvaceous gal myself, it’s always a plus to find a book that portrays a plus-sized heroine who does not have to lose weight to get her HEA. Mike definitely appreciates Maddy’s looks, from her plump thighs all the way down to her soft, round belly, and while it takes a while to convince Maddy of his genuine appreciation, they were absolutely perfect for each other.

I cannot WAIT for Tim to get his! He’s had such a good time laughing it up at poor Rick and Mike that it’s going to be utter joy to witness him fall ass over teakettle in love, especially with all of his slutty ways and his family issues.

Recommended for fans of realistically sized heroines who finally realize that they are so much more than their dress size, of deliciously over-protective alpha cop heroes who will do anything to get the woman they love, and some absolutely delicious sexy time balanced out with a sweet love-story.

Im a big believer in the phrase "Different Strokes for different folks" and this book just emphasizes it to me.. I didnt like this book very much at all and really disliked the heroine.. Maddy wasnt feisty or fiery to me she was a witch (Take out the w and add a b) but I did really like the H. Mike is probably the only reason I finished this book (I did ask for a refund) This so called heroine put down the H every single chance she got.. I cant see anybody liking this book if it were the H calling the h names as much as she did and insinuated that they were ignorant. It got a little easier to read about half way through but she still insulted him: Heres a breakdown of the terms she used and just how many times these terms were used.

Neanderthal- FIFTEEN TIMES
Lug- Twice
Buffoon- Twice
Boofhead- Six times

Not to mention just the way she talked to him. Another thing that bothered me (and its a personal thing) I didnt like how casual these both were with the morning after pill.. Again its a personal thing but they have unprotected sex one night she goes the next morning and gets one. they have another bout of unprotected sex that night or a couple of days later and she just like "oh Ill have to get ANOTHER morning after pill" For the third time its a personal thing so I dont think it will be a problem for others.
They fell in love quick, which is fine with me usually and we did read about Mike falling for her (Why I dont know) but with Maddy it was kind of a page flipper trying to figure out just where she changed her way of thinking.

I just didnt like this book or this heroine. I think I should have went with my gut because I was having doubts for awhile before I actually clicked the one-buy. Now I know.. I loved the first book in this series, didnt like this book and will have to just wait and see about the third.

This story had me wanting to slap maddy many times.. she was the one who was hot and cold and god i wanted to ughhh i love plus size books and maddy was cool at first she didnt have a problem with her weight she was sassy and awesome.. then mid book she got all insecure and was blah and just whiney to me.. and i disliked it then she was not insecure and acted like the sassy chick again...as for Mike he was a great OTT alpha male he was stubborn at first but protective when it came to Maddy he didnt care for her weight and an all around good guy.. as for their banter was good even when i wanted to smack her.. i also dislike her family so badly her brother and sister in law were huge jerks.. another bad for me.. i hated when he called her lady.. it wasnt until they dated he called her babe or lover... i don't think ill read the rest of the other 2 books..

Low agnst,no ow/om drama, dramaish, not a manwhore and not a virgin gal, sexy times, secondary chars

Maddy Lovett has moved next door to cop Mike Carson. There run ins have been eventful and mainly surrounding a stray kitten. Maddy loves cats, she is a full figured woman who is used to being overlooked. Her family is meddlesome and has a way of putting her down, so when Mike and her get together Maddy cant relate to why he would have sex with her. Mike though knows what he wants and it is the nerve wracking woman who has stole his heart.

This was good but I did get tired of Maddy at times, she was feisty but her family was clueless. Mike is a very direct man and I did like him with Maddy. Cute story.

I’m having a hard time reviewing this because when I think back on it, it seems everything is there for me to LOVE it, but there is something missing and I was not left with that “over-the-moon” feeling I have when I love a book. I want to give it 5 stars, but I can’t – but it’s definitely a solid 4 stars, if not a little bit more. I’ll try my best to explain, but no promises…

Maddy is an independent plus size nurse. Most of the time, she’s a happy, driven, thoughtful, and laid back woman loving life. This is what attracts Mike, her next door neighbor. Mike is this big muscle man – strong, caring, and we can easily believe that he’s a man who sees through people’s BS and will love people based on who they are and not what they have or look like.

Maddy’s family is the opposite of Mike because what is on the surface is more important than true happiness, love, passion, etc. – everything that is important in life. Being raised in this environment has made Maddy feel like she’s lacking but thankfully she has her bff Cindy to keep it real and keep her spirit and self-esteem up.

This is a nice short pleasant read with likeable characters who have a good chemistry. By the end, although Maddy’s curvy figure is still an issue with Maddy’s family life, being plus size stops being an issue between Maddy and Mike – but it took a little while to get to that point. I suppose that’s understandable since it is the central theme of this book, if not this series.

My one big grievance in this book is the use of the morning after pill. Seeing how she’s a nurse and he’s a cop – where safety and responsible behavior should be second nature - these two are terrible about it in bed. It’s just odd that the first mention of them actually using a condom is when they’re already engaged.

This book reminded me a lot of Perfection – one of my favorites. It didn’t quite hit the mark as well as Perfection, but it’s pretty close.

Okay, forgive me for being super lazy, but I am going to review all the books in this trilogy in one review, this is to stop boring you with repetition as what I have to say about each book is pretty similar.

The trilogy goes in this order:
Doctor's Delight (Big Girls Lovin' Trilogy, #1) by Angela Verdenius Cop's Passion (Big Girls Lovin' Trilogy, #2) by Angela Verdenius Vet's Desire (Big Girls Lovin' Trilogy, #3) by Angela Verdenius

I normally reserve the first part of my review to give a general synopsis of the book, been as I doing a three in one deal I will give a general run down. In each book we have a heroine with body issues who unwittingly ensnares a hot man who then has the task of convincing his BBW heroine that he likes her just as she is.

I am in a BBW mood at the moment, I tend to go through phases so I have been lapping up Angela Verdenius like a fat chick let loose on a 6ft chocolate fountain. I feel safe saying this as I am that fat chick and if I was ever let loose on a 6ft chocolate fountain...then beware, I would suck that thing dry.

Anyways, back to the books, I enjoyed each one, they had their emotional moments, their sexy moments and their funny moments. Each of the heroines were likable and relatable for anyone who has few body issues, especially with those of us who have more "love" handles than a bike shop has regular ones.

But, the books themselves didn't really differ, the heroes, heroines and plot line were exactly the same in each book, as was the language. Ms Verdenius has her favourite words and they are used with frequency in each and every book.

This was an enjoyable trilogy though, I did enjoy each book and have a soft spot for Mike from Cop's Passion and I am going to continue my BBW obsession and read some more Angela Verdenius books.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the review copy!

Maddy Lovett‘s next door neighbor is tall, sexy, and super…sexy. In other words, a dream come true, right? Well, …not exactly. Mike Carson is a cop, and he has a very clear understanding of what is right and what is wrong. The antics of curvy spitfire Maddy drive him wild. Mind you, the good kind of wild. It’s hard to resist her and frankly, he doesn’t want to. Mike soon realizes that this woman is different. Yes, she can dish it out, but also has a lot of issues with the way she looks. Let it all go already and give the hunk a chance! This nurse’s happily ever after might be just around the corner - with a cherry kitten on top.

I devoured this book the last week of my semester break. Lots to do already! Busy, busy, busy… I desperately needed to relax, preferably with a short and enjoyable read. Thank heavens I found out about the Big Girls Lovin’ series and was given a review copy. It’s the perfect read to get comfy with for a couple of hours. I had a big smile (okay, more like a goofy grin) on my face by the time I finished it. I had several feel good moments throughout the book. So nice to see the hawwwt guy attracted to a not so slender woman. *Points at self* I want one, too!! For everyone familiar with the TV show One Tree Hill: “Zero Is Not A Size!” Maddy had a big attitude. She was not amused by her neighbor going all caveman on her. No wonder he thought her confident. I wouldn’t disagree, but she certainly wasn’t confident in all aspects either. Her looks were a constant topic of interest for her family. Unfortunately, they dealt with it in such a way that left her feeling worthless. No one deserves that! I was so mad at these people for being so ruthless in stating their opinions; sticking their noses where they didn’t belong. It was a relief to see that otherwise Maddy seemed to be happy with her life. Being a nurse made her just as proud as owning a house. At her side - Cindy, the trustworthy and supportive best friend. After all, everyone needs someone to talk to or just to have fun. I would’ve hated for her to be too dependent on Mike. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case and I liked the love hate relationship they awkwardly stumbled into. Two headstrong personalities were bound to clash at one point and the author didn’t disappoint. The character’s squabbles only deepened my affections for both of them. Back and forth they went with the insults, all the while completely blind to the fact that they had the hots for each other. I couldn’t wait for one of them to finally figure it out. The best kind of tension!
Mike was a bit of a control freak, demanding an instant answer to every question. He also quite liked to order Maddy around, but let me be clear, only to protect her from herself and some stupid decisions she made. Yup, Maddy’s a stubborn one! He was concerned, she thought he was pushing it. She was mad, and he had no earthly idea why. Really fun to read. I basically chuckled to myself more often than not. Very cute romance! Sigh. A little stray kitten was an added bonus. Picture this: Small helpless cat and a badass cop. Hmmm… Deny it all you want, I know she fell in love with the cat right away! Just admit it.
The reason why I’m not giving this story 4 or even 5 stars is easy to explain. Pretty much everything I loved about it (plot twists, character traits and so on) was taken one step too far at least once. Meaning? Maddy’s attitude was mostly a good thing. Mostly being the operative word. I was also overwhelmed a bit. It turned from endearing to just silly. She called Mike a Neanderthal and I loved it - the first couple of times. After that…not so much anymore. Stop it already! Same goes for Mike’s take charge personality. Great hero! Someone to lean on, at least until his need to protect her became too pushy for comfort. As I said before, Cindy was a good friend. Then again, she, too, annoyed the heck out of me by acting overly chirpy. I couldn’t be around someone like her. Hug, scream, giggle, giggle, and some more giggling. Nope. I’d go crazy!
I liked how things ended. How unbelievable great that Mike stood up for his woman and showed everyone the depth of his feelings for her. The rest, however, felt staged. Could’ve done without that. Quick recap: Fun, cute and satisfying! Sometimes a tad over the top. Are you stressed out? Been super busy? Take a break and read this book! It’ll make it better. 3.5 stars to Cop’s Passion by Angela Verdenius!

Beware of Spoilers!

A few of my favorite quotes for those of you who are interested:
° “The lady was one hot piece of – possible thief.”
° “…was far removed from what was considered the ideal weight for a woman her height and age. Mike thought she looked just perfect.”
° “Take a hike, she growled. Take a running jump off a short pier. Get lost!”
° “Listen boofhead, I came to bloody apologise, to give you a freakin’ peace offering which, I’m happy to tell you right now, you can ingest through another orifice in your body…”
° “…getting to know each other, being together. Have you been inhaling the exhaust fumes from your motorcycle?”
° “…when I first met you, you were scary, big, and scowled a lot. Now you’re irritating, big, and scowl a lot.”

Extremely funny story.

I read some of the negative reviews and all I could think was how ridiculous they were. This was a light hearted delightful story. This story was meant to be funny and entertaining, and for me it certainly was. There was no angst in this story, no real big drama. Just two people that found each other.

Maddy’s sarcasm was just plain funny. And, her sarcasm was written for just that purpose. I know I have a weird sense of humor, but Maddy’s one line sarcasm seriously cracked me up. I loved her sassy character. Our hero was a BIG sweet tenderhearted man.

Oh my man Mike, his character is my totally alpha dream man. I will forever have a fantasy of Mike taking me over a kitchen table.... OMG, What I wouldn't have given to have a man like him in my heyday!

Angela Verdenius wrote some real good sexy stuff made just for fantasy dreaming with a big bear hunk of a man. I think this author's story telling is wonderful. I also think she has some comedian in her.

I always have the same problem with BBW stories rather they’re USA, or Australian. One person calls our BBW a hefty sheila, and a big chick. Then Mike calls her voluptuous, curvy, and lush. Is she fat, chubby, plump, or just curvy? Always seems the same in BBW books, and it drives me crazy! At least our hero in this story explained why he was attracted to her. That was fabulous, thank you for that Angela Verdenius!

For me and my reading pleasure this was an extremely funny read.

Well now this has been a real treat. Being a plus size myself, haven't given much thought to the looks of people in romance novels as being real. I usually just go with my imagination & place myself in the female lead like most women. Having the character of a plus size girl falling for a hot muscle hunk is something that doesn't normally happen, but now that I've had the pleasure I'm looking forward to reading more.

Maddy is a nurse & of the curvacious variety. Mike is a cop of the hot muscle variety. They are neighbours & when they meet it's like fireworks. Well fireworks because Maddy gets angry with him & with all her sharp wit & sarcasm, it's quite funny. Mike starts having thoughts of Maddy & their of the hot & sweaty kind. This surprises him, but he really likes Maddy & really likes her curves. Mike had never really thought either way about how people looked, but he was finding that he was very aroused by Maddy.

Maddy has a hard time with her famiy, over her being single & not skinny enough to get a man, or so they tell her. Mike doesn't like how she has a low opinion of herself. Together they have a passionate, hot, romantic & lovely relationship. Mike gives her the support & strength she didn't know she was missing.

Fantastic book, great story, hot as hell.

I didn't like it quite as much as the first one in the series, but it was cute. I appreciated the way Maddy was both independent and insecure about her weight. I loved the moment where she broke down about her weight. There is this frustrating thing taught to plus-sized women, that if we just have confidence, we'll be considered attractive. Not only is that untrue given society's beauty standards, it is unfair. When every day, society tells you that you are not attractive (in subtle and not-so-subtle ways), it is unfair to expect that person to magically have high self-esteem and confidence. Mike is a little too old-fashioned for my taste, but I appreciated his emotional support of Maddy and her baggage. (3.5 stars)

4.5 Stars, I truly enjoyed this book, Maddy had spunk and she didn't give a hoot, what people says, but she was very hurt by her entire family treating her like she was not good to par. Officer Mike Carson, yum Big Bear, Sexy as Hell. I going to have to go to Australia and do a little visit to see if they really like Plus Size Girls as the book says, because I am a "BBW Sheila", love the lingo. Big Bear aka Mike Carson even though he was tough he was a big softy. I am so glad that they were firm toward there family, how they were the Black sheep of the family. Wow sound like mine, but oh well, life continue. Bravo to Ms. Angela Verdenius, great encore presentation. Thank you.

Mike you had me at 6ft 6!, sweet, enjoyable read had me wanting to eat cake though, because I'm a bit of a cat lover I especially enjoyed the parts where Mike tries not to care about the little kitten, so cute!, Tim gets a mention so nicely set up for his and Cindy story which is up next.

Enjoyable enough that I read it in a day. Some things I thought were a bit much and others really relatable so there was a good balance between real issues and fiction in my opinion. Overall a cute quick and entertaining chick lit!

I really loved Mike. I really liked his personality Maddy not so much at first.. Until she realised she as acting like her family.

I know this is a book about big girls not being accepted BUT as a big girl myself i don't think the author went about it the right way. No one is going to love you because your fat.... your a fatty.
A lot of awful words from the bitches of the book I don't think would be portrayed IRL it honestly made me feel like sh*t reading those bits. Then a few little words and everything is good.. doesn't really work like that. If your going to right about sensitive subjects you should research how people like that would really act.

Anyway like book 1 I liked some of the characters the story is pretty much the same though.

Fantastic story of acceptance and love

At first I thought Maddy was a shrew but then her family was introduced, boy I understand her attitude. Mike so patient with her. How they came together makes this a great story. I want my own cop.

I love Maddy's sassy attitude and I love the relationship she has with Mike. Where he is both protective and a "Neanderthal", as Maddy puts it, but he is also super sweet, gentle, and sensitive. Not just to Maddy but in general.
