This is the "bible" for new surfers! It covers everything from board design to board repair. From wetsuits to wax. From building your own to waves, wind and tides. There is so much info in this book that will help the new surfer understand his sport before he even gets wet. A "must" for beginning and intermediate surfers.
A must have for anybody working in the surfing industry as shaper or board repair technician. Lots of classic shapes, templates and specifications on board design. When I am at work this book is always nearby for a quick reference.
this book was very informational but dated. The content of this book was extremely interesting due to the age of the book. The shapes and the designs of board back in the '80s was much different than boards nowadays. Also the techniques of board building was drastically different than current shaping techniques.
B+ This book is very interesting for any surfer to read. While much of it was on shaping of boards and board selection (and the shaping part was much over my head/out of my focus), it gives you some real focus and ideas and information for surfers. Very interesting; some real valuable information!
An excellent breakdown of surf board design and performance. Nicely written. Contians a couple articles by Grubby Clark that poo poos any material but poly for surfboards. Who's laughing now Grubby?
Everything you’d ever want to know about surfboard shaping and surfboard design. Grab your tools, pick up this book and hit the water with your own home shaped surfboard!!
