Bernard Wolfe studied at Yale, taught at Bryn Mawr, served in the Merchant Marine, edited Paramount Newsreel, wrote Really the Blues with "Mezz" Mezzrow, and did a publicity stint on Broadway.
Not happening...this book and its narrator seem oafish, sexist, and condescending to black culture if not racist, and the story is boring. I'm not sure if I missed the undertones of intolerance in the previous Bernard Wolfe book I read, or dismissed them too easily, or whether this one is worse, but it's bugging me now.
