Written by a new generation of recognized experts in pastoral care, these brief, foundational books offer practical advice to pastors on the most frequent dilemmas of pastoral care and counseling.
Oates provides some useful information about the process of grief and transition in various losses. In later chapters, he leans more toward socio-political commentary than pastoral care, but he recovers with a concluding chapter about the Christian perspective, where he celebrates the resurrection motif for processing grief and loss. This is probably the most important chapter in the book.
All in all, a satisfactory and fairly useful resource.
