Oates provides some useful information about the process of grief and transition in various losses. In later chapters, he leans more toward socio-political commentary than pastoral care, but he recovers with a concluding chapter about the Christian perspective, where he celebrates the resurrection motif for processing grief and loss. This is probably the most important chapter in the book.

All in all, a satisfactory and fairly useful resource.
