An astonishing narrative poem using the colorful and daring characters of the Globe Theatre during the life of Shakespeare to create the incredible voices of its actors, bit players, poets, stage managers and lovelorn ladies of his day. Shakespeare, his wife, his Dark Lady and his poor dead boy all spring from the pages with fact and fiction intertwined into a virtuoso book that will redefine the classroom's experience of Elizabethan studies. A new and provocative approach to a beloved subject.

This is so gorgeous...Poetry that tells Shakespeare's story. And not just Will, but Richard Burbage, Anne Hathaway, Henry Southampton...
There are books that make us remember why we read, books that remind writers why we write. Michelle Cameron's In the Shadow of the Globe reminds us why we live. This book of poetry spanning the lives and times of Shakespeare and his companions at the Globe Theatre weaves a spell over the reader from the first line, drawing her in with its brilliance and its beauty. It is unconscionable that this book is out of print. My words are not enough, and they begin to fail me. Buy it for yourself and you will see why I am so adamant, why I love it so much. In the Shadow of the Globe brings Shakespeare's world to life.
Shakespeare lovers will adore this book. Those with only a slight knowledge of Shakespeare's world will find this story fulfilling. And readers who like poetry will admire the way Camerons weaves this story in beautiful poems.
Even if you are not a fan of poetry, Cameron's writing is so beautiful, it will draw you in. I loved how the poetry told stories of Shakespeare and those associated with the Globe theater. I loved the simplicity of the language, but also Cameron's masterful way of putting together pithy phrases to create a feeling or a scene.
