I have read the series of these books I love them because I enjoy reading about the era of the settlers in America and what they went through to survive and live their lives according to the plan that God has for them.

Drawing Closer

I chose this rating of five stars because of the spiritual content. This author always shows you how to have that personal relationship with God. He writes it into the story line in their trials and struggles. How to get real with God. I recommend it to all those who are new believers who would like to see how it looks in application in walking with God daily and for those who have been walking for so long it has become routine and need a fresh look at a sweet personal relationship with God. I also enjoy the history he puts into the books he writes. Takes you back in time and helps us to appreciate what we have today because of what our forefathers did for us.Enjoy!

I'm surprised! I went from having a hard time getting into it to loving the story and how God's Will and love is shown. I especially enjoyed how they not only talked about their relationship with God but actually shared the prayer they used in situations to help you understand better. Very good story and tugged at the heartstrings.

The was great! Corrie and Christopher are newly weds, and starting their lives together. They start their new life together by living in a bunk house on Corrie's family property.

There is a man by the name of Mr. Jones who doesn't believe in the Lord. Christopher tries to get him to see the truth, but, the man continues to be stubborn. I found this character to be very frustrating.

Christopher tells Corrie about the possibility of them leaving Miracle Springs. This is hard for Corrie because Miracle Springs is her home and she doesn't want to leave her family.

There are a few character who are led to the Lord in this book: Alkali, and others. This was a good book!!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. Just like The Journals of Corrie Belle Hollister was an excellent series I look forward to reading this one also. Great bible scripture throughout with great insight to Christian living even though this book is set back in the Gold Rush days the advise for Christian living is relevant today. I always enjoy books like this.

Sometimes a Christian's death can accomplish more for the Kingdom of God than if he or she had lived. This book made me realize that and also that God wants us to pray for those who hurt us.

The cliche, "the Lord works in mysterious ways" sure fits here. It was interesting to see how God can make something we think of as horrible into something beautiful!

I'm glad I read the two books of this series as a follow-up to The Journals of Corrie Belle Hollister. It gave closure. But I think as much as I love Michael Phillips writing for the way he weaves into his stories Christian insight, that same insight just took over this an at least one of the Journals books, so much so that the story got lost. Not my favorite series of Phillips but still good though I felt I really had to push myself to get through this one and the other Journal book that fell into this trap.

Ended too quickly

I have read many Michel Phillips books. This one like the rest, was true dialogue with the importance of life.
However, he ended it “too quickly”. I felt like I was left hanging.
I know the messages he was sending in his words, and they, like all of his books were powerful! I just wanted the story to go on a little longer.

I sure missed these folks

More good California history and Christian growth for all the characters including two that has been prayed for years on end. Lesson today: commit your way to the Lord. He will make your path straight.
