Missing, No Trace Left: Prequel: Like Yesterday

Rate this book
I remember it like yesterday…
Kennedy had hung with this group of friends since kindergarten; they were her crew – her real family – the people she could trust for reals. If you could actually trust anyone in Queens, New York.
They were a tight-knit group of misfit kids that no one would have guessed would be such good friends. Everyone underestimated them, but they each knew they would always have each other’s back.
There was beautiful Kenny, who loved a good time, solving puzzles, and just chillin’; tall, gorgeous Jayla, with her dark skin was a fashionista of the highest order, always looking her best; Connor, with his muscles, good looks, and sweet personality; small, spicy, and brave Elena who wouldn’t think twice about spewing some shit to anyone who needed the lesson; and rounding out the group, the entrepreneurial yet shady Keeky, who knew how to make sure the group had a really good time.
The group of friends gathered almost daily for a smoke and a drink, maybe a little bit of trouble, always sticking together and protecting one another. Each day, Kennedy wondered if Connor would ever be as interested in her as she was in him. She waited for a sign, hoping it would come.

But their world is shattered one day, when one of their own goes missing without a trace.

As the days turn into weeks, the group is forced to confront the possibility that their friend may be gone forever.

Will they find their friend, or will the mystery of their disappearance haunt them forever? What will happen to their little gang as the years go by?
“Missing, No Trace Left – Like Yesterday” is the emotional and tense opener to the series “Missing, No Trace Left”.

You will understand the meaning of friends to the end.

Kennedy and her friends live in Queens, New York. Kennedy goes to Kissena Park to meet up with her friends. They are a group of five different people who have known each other since kindergarten. They are now 15 and in 10th grade. They meet at the park to hang out, drink a little and smoke a little. Besides Kennedy, there is Elena, Jayla, Connor and Keeky.

Kennedy and Connor have always had a crush on each other but neither will make a move because if it didn’t work out, the group could be hurt. Kennedy, Connor and Jayla have parents who are overprotective at times but love them. Keeky’s mom loves him but is never around so he has pretty much raised himself. He is usually the one to provide the weed that the group smokes. He usually gets it from Slasher and his crew. Elena’s dad is an abusive drunk and her mother is never home. Since her mother makes sure to never be around, Elena is the one who has to make her father coffee and breakfast in the morning and make sure that dinner is made in the evening. If something isn’t done, her father often hits her. She feels like Cinderella.

One night, Elena sleeps over at Jayla’s house. When they go to school the next morning, Elena realizes she forgot her permission slip for the college fair field trip. She runs home to get it but doesn’t come right back. Her father hit her for not being there to wake him up. He lost his job for being late. Elena ends up in the hospital with a black eye and a concussion.

3 months later Elena gets caught trying to steal money from a teacher’s wallet. 2 months later Keeky admits that Elena is getting more into pills and even tried cocaine. She also wanted to try meth but Keeky wouldn’t help her meet the dealer. However, they know Slasher would. They are all worried about Elena.

1 week later, Elena is now missing. 2 weeks after that Kennedy’s parents announce they are moving the family to New Jersey. On her last night, Connor walks her home and admits that he’s always liked her. He kisses her, tells her that she’ll always be his girl and that he is going to always be waiting for her to come back to him.

Will Kennedy ever see Connor or her other friends again? Will Connor really wait for her? Will Elena be found?

I am looking forward to finding out what happens with Kennedy and her friends.

Bobby and Cassidy went to school together albeit they didn’t begin to date til sometime in their senior year. Things progress, they get engaged and Bobby joins the service. Cassidy says she’ll wait for him…which she does until Bobby breaks the engagement - via TEXT!! - after he is injured in Iraq. Now she wants nothing to do with him.

But that’s difficult in a small town and he’s a friend of her cousin’s boyfriend plus part of the police force. Strange going’s-on have been happening to Cassidy’s cousin, Kristina. She has to leave town for her safety . As pieces begin to fall into place about Kristina’s “incidents”, Cassidy disappears. Bobby finds a note explaining what has happened to Cassidy - a case of mistaken identity Now he has to find out where Cassidy has been taken…

Good character development, non-stop action, sass, romance, and justified anger keep this story rolling along. This is my first book in the series; looking forward to to the next one and probably reading one through four! I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my opinion.

This was a great story. The characters are well written and developed. Very sad that Elena was abused by her father and her mother stayed away to let it happen. She definitely wanted to disappear without a trace so no one could find her. Her friends should have spoken up about the abuse her father did to her, but they were like others who turned a blind eye toward the situation. Out of all ofher friends Keeky would be the one who would know something about Elena. If you love a good suspenseful book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and is a page turner, then read this book and series.

These five friends; Kennedy, Elena, Jayla, Connor, and Keeky; are known as The Brat Pack. Friends since kindergarten, and are now 15. They all have different home lives. They meet most nights, to drink a few beers and smoke a little weed. When one of them goes missing, what will the others do? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. Can't wait for the next book in the series!!

A Very Riveting Book!

Young friends, new love, family problems with dark secrets. This was a great start to the series. I feel as if I know these characters personally and feel for some of them that don’t have the support from their family that the others do. I can’t wait to continue to see if the young girl is found.

The teenage brat pack

Honest review freely given.

This installment gives you a peek into who and where Kennedy, Connor, Jayla, Elana, and Keeky came from. A little background of each character. It's a great introduction to the "Missing, No Trace Left" series.
