My daughter brought this home from her high school library as she knows I can't get enough of the world's greatest detective!
Simplified language for the intended age range, but beautiful illustrations bring this story to life.

For a graphic novel I enjoyed this. I liked the artwork and the story was decently told. It's intended for a younger audience and I think with that in mind, it's well done. I'm a great Sherlock Holmes fan and will read anything connected with him!

The graphic novel follows the telling tale of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson on another of their mysteries. This time taking place in the countryside by the name of Baskerville. Here a mysterious legend of a hound that has plagued the Baskerville family for years. With Sir Charles Baskerville murdered, and Henry Baskerville in line to take up the family fortune and estate, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson must figure out the murdered before Sir Henry Baskerville becomes a victim too. The graphic novel was quite simple. The graphics were colorful and well detailed, but the plot was simple enough and the pictures managed to help push the story further. I quite enjoyed the book, it was an easy read and there was no trouble in understanding anything at all. The novel could have probably been better with further character development. I felt like some of the characters in the novel, the reader is already supposed to know what they're like. But overall, the graphic novel was an enjoyable read and a simple and easy one at that.

Martin Powell has adapted the story brilliantly. The artwork is perfect for the tale, somber and dark. Holmes and Watson are brought alive in the graphics. Any Sherlockian will be thrilled to how close the tale is to the original by AC Doyle.

As a fan of Holmes, I hope the author and Dark Horse have great success with this tale, and the published continues to bring Holmes to life in the genre. I most like the fact that new younger readers can discover Sherlock Holmes in a format that they already read, and perhaps can be introduced to the real Canon.

Bravo for the quality of work.

I had one disconnect in reading the work. As Holmes readers know, Watson sends reports. The graphic novel using script on the pages to show the notes being sent. I found that hard to read on the PDF gallery I had in Adobe Digital editions.

The original was published in 2008. The redone version publication date is Mar 5 2013

A very well done comic book. Martin Powell did a great job to bring this story to life in comic book form. It has some really great eery illustrations that help to capture the gloomy feel of the original story. For a comic book fan or Holmes fan you won't be disappointed.

The Hound of the Baskervilles is my favourite Holmes mystery. This adaptation of the original classic was okay. The story was a little underwhelming compared to the action and suspense of the original but it showed all of the plot points and the illustrations were good.

A mythical hound, related to a curse, attacks Sir Charles Baskerville. Sherlock Holmes and Watson are on the case. This story has been called one of the greatest mysteries ever written. In this condensed version, the story loses all of the life Sir Arthur Conan Doyle gave it. It does what these Common Core Editions were meant to do, the same thing CliffsNotes used to do, gives the story basics, but without much of the heart.

A reasonably good graphic interpretation of the story. As always, I found the idea of a large painted dog, trained to kill one specific man (sir Henry Baskerville, the heir to the Baskerville fortune) to be quite far-fetched. At the time of its writing, though, it was probably believable, given the mysterious nature of the Moors.

It’s been a long time since I have read/listened to the original.
Not a fan of the art, it’s like Mike Mignola, but a lot of people seem to like his work. The art works more when it Dartmoor; it conveys the gloomy tone of the setting. But, actually picturing the Hound might take something away.

Well this was a letdown. :(

Maybe I expected too much from this. It's a junior graphic novel, so of course, a lot of stuff from the original story will be cut, but I'll be honest, I don't think a mystery like this can work in so short/basic a format.

Artwork's okay, but TBH, I wasn't fond of how Sherlock was conveyed. He's got this sneering, cocky look in a lot of his panels, and while Sherlock has every right to be cocky, he just felt 'off' here. Still, that's highly subjective.

The Hound of the Baskervilles (Graphic Revolve: Common Core Editions) is a fair adaptation but is all it is. It changes a key point of the story [involving the identity of the villain's "sister" no less]. Adequate for an introduction perhaps.

I do like mystery but this book just wasn't the best. It was jumping all over the place and I got lost. I would not recommend this book to a friend.

This was an on-the-edge-of-your-seat mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed. I wondered if there really was a gigantic feral dog that was killing the Baskervilles, it was so authentic.

I was honestly surprised by how short this was. It grasped every part of the story, but it flew by unlike the real book. I wish there was more meat to it.
