Amy is under pressure. Ty is still in the hospital - and still no one knows if he'll recover. It's a waiting game, and it's wearing Amy down. She'd never realized how much she needed Ty, not only for his expertise with the horses, but also as a part of herself. Now a beautiful wild mustang has come to Heartland, and Amy can't get through to him.
Lauren Brooke grew up in a ranch in Virginia and now lives in Leicestershire, England. Her husband is a veterinarian who specializes in horses. Her books have been published by Scholastic since Mid-2000, starting with the first book of the Heartland book series. The first book of her popular Chestnut Hill series was published in 2005.
According to an interview on scholastics' website, Lauren Brooke has been riding since before she could walk. She also said she competes in a few local-level horse shows and events.
There may be some other people in books and movies named Lauren Brooke: Amazon lists the author of "Book of spiritual regeneration" (1995) as Lauren Brooke. IMDB.com has a record for an Actress named Lauren Brooke. Her only movie is "Wiseguys vs. Zombies" (2003) as Goat Man's Wife.
Normally I can find something I did not like in this series, but this book was great. Ty healed, Amy, well was Amy, and endured everything that this story threw at her. Jack, looks to have found someone, sadly not lisa. (You will understand that if you watch the series on TV).
With Ty in a coma, Amy is having trouble going to school and dealing with all the horses at Heartland, yet she can't say no when a woman wants Amy to work with her wild mustang.
Amy's patience is really tried in this volume, and I too wanted Ty to hurry up and recover. She needed patience, too, to deal with the wild stallion. It will be interesting to see more of Ty's recovery in future volumes.
This definitely felt more of a filler book and just solidifies my opinion that the last book should have been split in two. The second half of that book would have fit perfectly with this one. Instead, we just have a repeat of the conflict of Amy being stretched too thin and not having enough time to get everything done. The situation with Ty, if combined with the events from the last book, would have been an interesting plot line, but it was dragged out in this book. The storyline with Dazzle was slightly interesting with the mustang element, but it felt very similar to Willow even with their issues coming from different places. I have previously only read up to the next book, which I remember enjoying. It will be interesting to see how the series goes after that.
As always, these go by really quick. I'm coming up to a few of my favourites as I get nearer the end of my rereads, and this one is interesting because Ty is in hospital for most of the book. It's nice to see more of the horses including new arrivals and I always have my favourites throughout the series. :)
Amy and her friends are getting older now and the books are becoming more fully YA, in dealing with some of these topics (though that's something the series has never shied away from), and I'm looking forward to carrying on and finishing this series once again!
well the aftermath of the whirlwind definitely was a good one. i think the only part i didnt like about it was the “ex girlfriend visits at the hospital” plot... not because i hate it in general but it really didnt make any sense and the character would think about it but the plot just never added up for it. but i really did enjoy this read and i cant wait to read and finish the rest of the books!!!
I'm glad that this one wrapped up the storyline from the previous book that I was a little concerned about! :P It's cool that this one has some unique content that didn't make it into the TV series. =)
Amy is under a lot of stress with her right hand man, Ty, in the hospital in a coma. A new horse arrives, adding more stress to Amy. This was not one of my favorite books. It seemed boring in comparison to other books.
This book was almost as traumatic and stressful as the last one. It takes until the very end for what we all waited for to happen, kind of slow. The ending is very happy and well-awaited, though!
Another great read by Lauren Brooke, I was speeding through the pages as I had to find out what was going to happen to Amy! 😊
Amy is struggling with all the work that has to be done at Heartland after the devastating storm, the horses that need to be trained and the endless stalls that need to be mucked out. Amy is missing Ty (the stable hand and family friend) more than ever, but she is set on continuing to stay positive while he is in hospital. When a phone call about gentling a wild mustang comes through, Amy jumps at the chance to help train him to keep her mind off the daily challenges at Heartland. Will Amy really be able to help Dazzle trust her or will she be committing to more than she is capable of?
*Feel free to check out my overview for the Heartland series over on my Substack blog:
This book had very well developed, flawed characters, with a true sense of what the characters were feeling... for the most part. As an experienced horse-person, I was a little disappointed by the lack of realism of certain portions of the equine encounters in this book - in real life, training a horse is NEVER that simple, straight-forward or easy. But, it was a quick read and worth the 2 or so hours I put into it. Even though this book is near the end of the series, the characters are introduced and the story recapped, so I wasn't completely lost. It was a pretty good book that I did enjoy. I've actually started watching the television series, so I am enjoying this series quite a bit more now.
The Heartland books are a fun read, and they’re pretty quick to get through for me. You get your horses and your heartache from Heartland. These books are pretty steady, all continuing the story of Amy, Lou, Ty, Jack and the assorted horses. The writing and subject matter are obviously intended for children, and can be a bit clunky at times for individuals with a higher reading level. Since there isn't a lot to say, this review is similar to past reviews of this series. I recommend this series to kids who love horses, or parents who want there children to read something that's about hard work and some of life's tough lessons
Ty is still in the hospital, and Amy misses him. It is really difficult without him. In Heartland, a new horse arrives. It is a mustang. Amy tries to train him, but it is pretty difficult. Amy starts feeling discouraged in herself. She doesn't know what to do. What will happen? Will Ty get better? Will Amy train the new mustang? Read this awesome book to find out!
